HARTNETT SUES OVER HOTEL SEX CLAIMS
LATEST: Actor JOSH HARTNETT is suing a British newspaper which claimed he was caught on camera enjoying a "sexual dalliance" with an unknown female in a London hotel room.
The Daily Mirror report suggested Hartnett was verbally warned by security bosses at the Soho Hotel last week (02Sep08) after security cameras taped his encounter.
Hartnett appeared on British talk show GMTV on Tuesday (09Sep08) to deny the allegations. He told presenters, "It’s incredible the stories they (the British newspapers) come out with. In the States at least they have to make a call to a representative and try to make a reality out of the situation. Over here (in Britain) they just make things up.
"(The paper said) there was a rumour about a video. But how can you have a rumour about a video? It would be on the Internet (by) now." And he is now seeking an apology and damages from the publication.
Hartnett’s legal representatives have described the allegations as "not only untrue but a complete fabrication…. defamatory and unsubstantiated".
The actor is in London preparing to star in a West End production of Rain Man, which is due to open on 19 September.
