The singer performed all the tracks from new LP Do You Know for 200 record industry figures at Nashville, Tennessee’s Shermerhorn Symphony Center on Thursday (4Sep08).
After stepping onstage with a backing band comprising of three acoustic guitars, a bongo player and a fiddler, Simpson said, "Thank you so much for coming and for giving me a chance. I hope you get to experience what my heart’s been going through the last few years.
"I’m a little nervous. If I throw up, I’m sorry." When she made it through the gig, a relieved Simpson exclaimed, "I didn’t throw up!" Simpson’s country debut Do You Know will hit stores in the U.S. next week (09Sep08).

LATEST: LILY ALLEN has laughed off her onstage row with SIR ELTON JOHN at a London awards show on Tuesday (02Sep08), insisting they were joking and are still friends.
The pair made headlines by bickering throughout their gig as co-hosts of the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
She told the music legend to "f**k off" on several occasions after John had made sneering remarks about her alcohol consumption on the night.
But the Smile singer insists the acid-tongued barbs between the pair were in good humour.
She writes on her MySpace blog, "Elton John and I are still friends… Trying to make me out as being some rude little girl with a drink problem is just unfair. Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all, in fact neither of us gave it a second thought."

MADONNA has vetoed her 11-year-old daughter LOURDES’ plans to star in a new movie and banned her from any showbiz work until she has finished school.
Lourdes - whose dad is fitness trainer Carlos Leon - has been approached to appear alongside Paul Bettany and Dakota Fanning in forthcoming comedy drama The Secret Life of Bees, reports America’s Star magazine.
But a source tells the publication, "Madonna didn’t work ’til after school and she wants it to be the same for Lourdes. She doesn’t want her to enter that harsh world." However, the insider hints the pop superstar may have trouble keeping her daughter away from the bright lights of fame: "Lourdes is pretty determined, so I predict a battle in the future."

JAVIER BARDEM prepared to film NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN by imagining every detail of his character’s life - including his sexual habits.
The actor won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar earlier this year (08) for his portrayal of sociopath assassin Anton Chigurh in the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed thriller.
And he insists he was so in tune with the character, he could even envisage the assassin’s bedroom behaviour.
He says, "I want to understand everything about that mind. With Chigurh, I saw him as a man with a mission that was beyond his control. Someone chose his fate for him.
"I thought of him as a man who never had sex. He doesn’t like human fluids, even his own. I don’t want to get into too many details, but I even imagined how Chigurh would masturbate…
"For Chigurh, it was important to think about how he relates to other people, even sexually. So, I think he will masturbate once per month in the dark and with a pillow. Very clean."

Cuban singer/actress NIURKA MARCOS has ended her one-year marriage, after her husband was caught kissing another woman.
The star wed Yanixan in August 2007, but she announced on Wednesday (03Sep08) that she’s filing for a legal separation from her second spouse.
Marcos initially jumped to Yanixan’s defence when video footage of her husband locking lips with an unidentified female surfaced online, claiming it was being used as a publicity stunt.
But a representative for Marcos has now confirmed to PeopleEnEspanol.com that the couple has parted ways, after the 40-year-old discovered the truth about her husband’s infidelity.
Marcos divorced her first husband, Mexican actor Larios, in July 2007.

JAVIER BARDEM faced a severe backlash in his native Spain after winning an Oscar last year (07) - his countrymen accused him of "selling out".
Bardem won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a sociopath killer in No Country For Old Men, becoming the first Spanish actor to win the coveted prize.
But he insists he had to work hard to convince Spaniards the recognition he found in the U.S. hadn’t inflated his ego.
He says, "The Spanish are tough. They criticise my work and say I sold out.
You want to say, ‘Stop it - you’re a bunch of stupid people.’ "But you are never going to be liked by everybody. After the Oscars, I came back to Madrid, where I live. I wanted to get back to the real world.
"After something like the awards, you’ve changed a little bit, but everyone around you has changed tremendously. You have to bring them back - you have to show that you are the same stupid, limited guy and not this kind of golden boy."

Fantasy horror filmmaker GUILLERMO DEL TORO has projects lined up until 2017, after signing a longterm deal with movie studio Universal.
The Mexican director, who is currently working on Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit, has committed his Hollywood future to the studio giant, tying him to Universal until he turns 53.
Del Toro will be busy writing and shooting The Hobbit until 2012, but once that movie wraps, he will take the helm for the first of four new films for Universal bosses.
The movies are all film adaptations of books, including big-screen versions of novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, and Dan Simmons’ upcoming tome, Drood, about Charles Dickens’ final days.
Del Toro is also due to serve as producer for several of Universal’s planned projects, such as Hater and Crimson Peak, reports trade paper Variety.

Rumours of a new GHOSTBUSTERS sequel have intensified, after reports executives at Hollywood studio Columbia Pictures have hired two screenwriters to create a third installment of the spooky franchise.
Recent reports suggested bosses at Columbia - the studio behind the first two movies in 1984 and 1989 - were lining up Seth Rogen, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd to join original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson in a new movie.
Rudd subsequently dismissed the claims as "flattering rumours".
But Daily Variety reported on Friday (05Sep08) that Columbia has recruited Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to revive the movie series - which has so far grossed more than $500 million (£270 million) worldwide.

SLIPKNOT have knocked COLDPLAY from the top of the European album charts their new LP ALL HOPE IS GONE has debuted at number one.
The masked rockers’ new reign means Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends has been pushed into second place, with Welsh soul star Duffy moving down one spot to third with Rockferry.
The Verve score the only other new entry in the top five with Fourth, while the soundtrack to movie musical Mamma Mia! slips two spots to five.
Meanwhile, there’s no change at the top of the European singles chart - Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl enjoys another week in pole position, while Kid Rock’s All Summer Long sits at two, and Coldplay’s Viva La Vida remains at three.

Former SPICE GIRLS star MELANIE CHISHOLM has snubbed parenting advice from her ex-bandmates - in favour of tips from her own mother.
The first-time mum-to-be, who confirmed her pregnancy last month (Aug08), reveals her former group mates have offered her wise words on raising kids.
But the 34-year-old insists the only person she is listening to is her own mum, Joan.
She says, "The girls are made up (happy) for me and have all offered to guide and advise me, but I’m sticking with my mum. She’s my best friend and you don’t get any better than that.
"I used to love the fact that I was the only Spice Girl who didn’t need to lug around loads of baby stuff. Mad, innit (isn’t it)? Me, a mum." Chisholm is the last of the Spice Girls to fall pregnant - Melanie Brown has two daughters; Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has three sons with soccer ace David Beckham; and Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton each have one child.

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND bassist GARETH DAVIES has quit the band after moving to the U.S. and becoming a married man.
Davies made the decision to walk away from the British rockers rather than make the regular transatlantic flights for recording sessions and U.K. gigs.
He has been replaced by Gavin Burroughs.
A statement on the band’s MySpace page reveals, "It’s with sadness that we announce Gareth Davies has left Funeral For A Friend.
"As some of you may know, Gareth has been living in America for the past couple of years, and recently got married. Ultimately, the strain of travelling between continents has taken its toll and Gareth made the decision that it would be in the best interests of himself, his family and Funeral to leave the band. We totally respect and understand his choice, wish him all the best in his future and we thank him for being part of our lives for the past six years.
We’ll miss him.
"We’d like to take this opportunity therefore to welcome Gavin Burrough. Gav is a super-tall, super-talented dude whom we’ve all known a long time and we’re sure you’re gonna love him as much as we do. Weird fact - Gav was born on the same day as Gareth. Crazy stuff."

The SPICE GIRLS will never reform again, insisting their recent reunion tour was the "final goodbye".
Fans hoped the group had kept the door open on further concerts, following their 2007/2008 world tour - particularly after bandmembers refused to rule out a second reunion.
But Scary Spice Melanie Brown dismissed the suggestion at the BMI Urban Awards in California on Thursday (04Sep08), telling reporters, "No. (That tour) was our final goodbye." Brown did admit she misses her bandmates, and enjoyed the chance to perform with them again, saying: "I think we always really enjoyed the whole journey.
It was really nice to tour again. Really nice. We’re all still friends."

Grunge pioneers ALICE IN CHAINS are heading back to the studio to record their first new material for 13 years - and their first without late frontman LAYNE STAYLEY.
The rockers reformed for live shows in 2006 with new singer William DuVall, but warned fans the prospect of recording without Stayley - who died of a drug overdose in 2002 - was too painful to contemplate.
But a message on the band’s website reveals they are now hard at work preparing for a new LP. They will hit the studio to record the disc in October (08).

LILY ALLEN has sparked fears for her well-being after declaring she "feels like killing herself" on her personal Facebook page.
The singer worried friends after posting "Lily has had enough, feels like killing herself" on her private page on the social networking site at 4.30pm on Thursday (04Sep08), according to British newspaper the Daily Mail.
The statement was subsequently removed and replaced with an entry that reportedly read, "Lily is dying inside" at 5.52pm that day.
And Allen appeared to reference her recent clash with rocker Sir Elton John when she posted: "Was he upset? I’m worried now, was I mean?" at 1.31am on Friday (05Sep08).
The outspoken pair hit the headlines after sparking a war of words onstage as they co-hosted this year’s (08) GQ Men Of The Year Awards in London on Tuesday (02Sep08).
Fiery John complained about the amount of champagne Allen drank, and after she told him to "f**k off", he retorted: "I could still snort you under the table."

KIRSTEN DUNST may be forced to take the stand to testify against a man accused of breaking into the SPIDER-MAN star’s New York hotel room and stealing her belongings.
James Jimenez, 33, and Jarrod Beinerman are alleged to have broken into the penthouse suite of the SoHo Grand Hotel while Dunst was staying there last year (07).
Beinerman has confessed to illegally entering the hotel suite and taking Dunst’s $13,000 (£7,340) Marc Jacobs purse. He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail this week (ends05Sep08).
But Jimenez has yet to enter a plea and his case looks likely to go to trial.
It means Dunst could be called upon to testify that the stolen items including $2,500 (£1,410) in cash, a cell phone, digital cameras and a Balenciaga bag - belonged to her. Many of the items have still not been returned to the star.
According to the New York Post, Jimenez is pushing for the case to go to trial, but his lawyer Daniel Hupert has refused to confirm the reports, simply stating the case was "proceeding".
The actress was staying at the SoHo Grand Hotel while filming scenes for her forthcoming movie How To Lose Friends and Alienate People.

KATE HUDSON’s ex LANCE ARMSTRONG has played down reports of his sexual prowess during his cycling heyday, insisting his intense training often left him too exhausted for love.
The seven-time Tour de France champion has been linked to a string of famous stars since divorcing wife Kristin Richard in 2003, including singer Sheryl Crow, young actress Ashley Olsen, and Fool’s Gold beauty Hudson.
But he claims he is far from the sex god he is perceived as by the media.
He tells the forthcoming issue of Men’s Journal magazine, "I had sex if I had the energy. I wasn’t one of those guys who believed in the myths about the guy losing his chi.
"The fact is that if you are riding your bike six, seven hours a day, you are not a sex champion. You’re just not. You have fatigue, low testosterone and a lower libido. But you know, I never got any complaints."

PETE DOHERTY’s forthcoming solo album is in jeopardy - because the troubled rocker can’t secure the funding to record it.
The Babyshambles frontman had originally planned to put out his debut solo LP this summer (08), but the 29-year-old has had to delay its release after running into financial difficulties.
And Doherty has had to sign up to play a string of live gigs in order to keep some money rolling in.
Speaking backstage at a London gig on Friday (05Sep08), he tells MTV News, "Unfortunately, the bailiffs (debt collectors) have been knocking quite a lot so I’ve got to do (shows) like, I’ve got to go back on in a minute and do the encore for things like this.
"But that’s what I’m doing really: writing and recording on my own. But I’m doing some stuff with Babyshambles as well."

LATEST: PETE DOHERTY is adamant reports he recently suffered an overdose in Austria are untrue - because he struggled to find any drugs while in the country.
The troubled Babyshambles frontman was said to have been revived by medics after collapsing from a drug overdose shortly before a gig in Graz, Austria last week (beg25Aug08).
But the rocker insists the media stories are completely fabricated - because he couldn’t locate any illegal substances.
He tells MTV News, "I know that was absolute rubbish. I was in Austria (but), I mean, between me and you… it would’ve been lovely to have enough stuff but there was nothing about.
"To be honest it was a really clean week - and it was complete rubbish."
