DARK KNIGHT HITS $500 MILLION IN AMERICA
BATMAN BEGINS sequel THE DARK KNIGHT has become only the second film in Hollywood history to cross the $500 million (£270.2 million) mark at the U.S.
box office.
The record-breaking film, starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, has taken just six weeks to reach the half-million figure - half the time it took Titanic, which remains the only film to have made more at the U.S. domestic box office.
After Sunday’s (31Aug08) estimates, The Dark Knight has now made a total of $502.4 million (£271.5 million).
