KNIFE SCENE CUT FROM JACKSON FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

A knife-wielding scene from SAMUEL L. JACKSON and KERRY WASHINGTON’s new movie has been cut - because the RAY star appeared to "lose it" on camera.
Jackson plays a cop who disapproves of the mixed-race couple which moves in next door to him, and goes to great lengths to let them know how he feels.
In one scene, Washington’s character pretends to seduce the Pulp Fiction star’s character - and then threatens him with a knife.
Washington says, "It got removed. Samuel L. Jackson follows me back into my house and I seduce him to the point where he is drawn in and then I threaten his life with a knife.
"The producers felt like, at that point in the film, my character was the only sane one and they needed her to stay sane in the mix. She was losing it.
"But it was fun to shoot, to hold a knife up to Sam."

BALDWIN TELLS ALL ABOUT BROTHERS IN NEW SCRIPT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:51 pm

ALEC BALDWIN is holding on to a telling script about his famous brothers DANIEL, WILLIAM and STEPHEN.
The foursome have become infamous in Hollywood for their antics both on and off the big screen.
And according to Baldwin’s younger brother, William, the 30 Rock star has already appointed his band of brothers as his supporting cast, while he "saves the day" as the plot’s hero.
William tells New Yorker magazine: "Basically it (the script) was: Daniel’s the outlaw; I’m the riverboat gambler who gets all the s***, the shallow good-looking sap; Stephen’s the village idiot; and he’s the f***ing hero! "He’s the one who saves the day at the end, he’s the Clint Eastwood… That’s the movie he wanted to make about his brothers."

USHER DREAMS OF SUPER BOWL GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

USHER hopes his NFL season kick-off performance on Thursday (04Sep08) will help him land the coveted Super Bowl half-time show.
Despite strong rumours suggesting Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band will perform on American football’s biggest stage next February (09) to millions of fans around the world, organisers have yet to confirm who will land the slot, and Usher is hopeful it will be him.
He says, "I don’t think it’s too early to consider it. Certainly, being associated with the organisation makes that a lot more possible. There have been conversations for a lot of years about me being part of a performance at a Super Bowl.
"I’m hoping that this leads, definitely, to that. This whole process is basically you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours." Usher will be among the main attractions performing before 2008 Super Bowl champions the New York Giants take on the Washington Redskins in the first game of the season.
If he lands the big show, he’ll join the ranks of Sir Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Janet Jackson among the superstars who have performed at the Super Bowl in recent years.

BAD TIMING FOR TIMBERLAKE ENGAGEMENT, SAYS FATONE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is in no rush to wed girlfriend JESSICA BIEL, according to his former ‘N SYNC bandmate JOEY FATONE.
The SexyBack star has been romancing Hollywood actress Biel since early last year (07) when she joined him at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
But according to Fatone, Timberlake isn’t planning to wed Biel in the near future, despite taking their relationship much more seriously than his former flames.
Fatone says: "I think he finally met somebody that he wants to spend the rest of his life. You never know (about an engagement), but I don’t know if it’s the appropriate time right now. You know what, I think he is just playing it by ear. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it." And Biel herself appears to be in no rush to walk down the aisle.
Adding to U.S. magazine Us Weekly in a recent interview, she says: "The actual idea of signing those papers and doing all this stuff… I’ve never been someone who’s like, ‘I have to, have to, have to have it."

CRUISE LOOKING FOR COMEDIC ROLES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

TOM CRUISE is keen to trade in his screen legacy as an action hero for more comedic roles after making a cameo appearance in new war comedy TROPIC THUNDER.
The Hollywood icon is unrecognisable as a chubby, balding movie executive in the new Ben Stiller film - featuring Stiller alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black.
And Cruise admits the role was an unexpected inspiration to make movie audiences laugh.
He says, "Well, I’m always looking for something new, and Ben’s (Stiller) movie is hilarious. He and I are old friends, and he is a really good director, so originally I said I’d do it just for friendship. But it turned out great.
"I actually love comedy, and I did it in Risky Business, so I’ll do more if it presents itself."

LAMARR BLACKMAILED STUDIO HEAD OVER AFFAIR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

Hollywood icon HEDY LAMARR once blackmailed a movie bigwig to land a film role opposite BOB HOPE.
The actress caught the unnamed executive having an affair with another actress and threatened to tell his wife if he didn’t help her secure a film role.
The revelation comes from Lamarr biographer Devra Hill, who recounts the story in her new book What Almost Happened To Hedy Lamarr.
Hill says, "He (executive) was married and had children and Hedy had told him she had caught him having an affair and he got a little upset.
"She wanted to do a certain movie at the time and he wasn’t that enthusiastic about the movie, and yet she got the movie made - because she told him she saw him having this affair.
"She made a funny movie with Bob Hope, My Favourite Spy, and Hollywood didn’t think of her as a comedienne, so that may have been the movie. She never said what film it was."

BEART DEFENDS TSUNAMI FILM

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

French actress EMMANUELLE BEART has defended claims her forthcoming film VINYAN is offensive to survivors of Indonesia’s devastating 2004 tsunami.
Beart came under fire for the forthcoming film after critics accused the cast of turning the tragedy into entertainment - branding it "outrageous".
But the 45-year-old beauty insists the tsunami was not the subject of the film, in which she plays a woman in search of her son who’s died in the disaster.
She says, "The story is that they lost their son. It happened in the tsunami but it happens in other ways and elsewhere, so I don’t want to justify myself." Director Fabrice Du Welz adds: "I don’t want to be unpleasant to people who have really suffered from the tsunami. I tried to be as respectful as I can. I am, with Vinyan, respectful with people. There is no provocation with me. I am really at peace with that. I don’t want to shock anyone who suffered from that terrible disaster. There is no footage from the tsunami."

GRENIER DEFENDS PAPARAZZI

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

Actor ADRIEN GRENIER has spoken out in defence of the paparazzi, insisting celebrity photographers are just "trying to earn a buck".
The 32-year-old Entourage star has been plagued by swarms of photographers since beginning his stint on the hit U.S show in 2004 - and Grenier admits tabloids have become a guilty pleasure.
He says, "They’re (paparazzi) trying to earn a buck in a fun way. Right now this sort of exploitation is accepted and embraced by mass culture, so they’re doing what they can to feed that demand and make money." But the actor insists he hasn’t considered going behind the camera lens for a career-swap.
He adds, "It’s not a choice that I would make because a lot of times it’s degrading to people. But we’re all susceptible to buying into it. Tabloids can be fun.
"I see stuff sometimes and have a good laugh. I enjoy pointing fingers and casting stones, but ultimately, I try and balance my media diet with things that are healthy."

CATHOLIC FAMILY RELEASE ALBUM OF ANCIENT SANSKRIT HYMNS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

The world’s only Sanskrit rock band, SHANTI SHANTI, has recorded a new album featuring ancient Hindu hymns.
The family group, featuring Robert Henry Forman and his children Andrea, Sara and Micah, spent a year researching Vedas Rig-veda, Sama-veda, Atharva-veda and Yajur-veda to create their sixth album, titled Veda.
Andrea Forman, who has also translated traditional Christian prayer Ave Maria in Sanskrit, says, "We fell in love with the overwhelming stillness, exuberance, clarity and amplified sensory awareness of Sanskrit poetry, which we have attempted to share on this record." The Catholic family’s efforts have been praised by Hindu scholars; Rajan Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, says, "Youth, specially of India and those living in foreign countries coming from an Indian background, need to learn from the example of the Forman sisters, who have mastered the ancient language Sanskrit.
"They are promoting it in a big way on their own inspiration, living in a non-Sanskrit environment and coming from a heritage with no Sanskrit background."

FOLLOWILL SKIPPED VACATION FOR GLASTONBURY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

KINGS OF LEON bass player JARED FOLLOWILL was forced to cancel a six-month beach holiday when the band was offered a prestigious festival headline spot.
The rockers had planned to take all of 2008 off after a gruelling schedule left them exhausted.
But they were offered the chance to play top of the bill at the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival - so decided to record new album Only By The Night as well.
And Followill is glad of the chance to keep working - because he thinks the world could end in four years time.
He says, "I was going to the f**king beach. I was going to get surgery on my shoulder, then going to the beach for six months. The only beach I’ve been to was in Spain when we were playing at a festival! "We’ll sleep when we’re dead I guess. According to my little brother, the end of the world is 2012. It’s something to do with the Mayans and some calendar ending or something like that. He’s a kind of paranoid kid!"

LAW CALLS FOR AFGHANI MILITANTS TO RECOGNISE PEACE DAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Actor JUDE LAW is calling for a ceasefire in war-torn Afghanistan - and wants the feuding parties to acknowledge a day of peace later this month (Sep08).
The Alfie star, an ambassador for British filmmaker Jeremy Gilley’s Peace One Day project, is in the Middle Eastern country to promote the United Nations’ global Peace Day on 21 September (08).
The non-violent 24-hour event was established in 2001 after lobbying from Peace One Day campaigners proved successful.
Afghanistan observed the 2007 Peace Day, and the break in fighting allowed health workers to enter the Taliban-influenced regions of the country and vaccinate 1.4 million children against polio in areas previously ruled off-limits.
Speaking at a press conference in Kabul on Monday (01Sep08), Law said: "What we hope to do… is to remind all parties that it is happening and see then what happens through negotiations." The British actor went on to describe the world as being in a "disastrous state", and wanted to use the Peace One Day project to urge all sides, "whether they are fighting for change (or) killing for change", to "pause".
He added: "And if that pause is simply to allow, as we did in last year’s call for action here, vaccinating children or bringing in food… then let’s use that." Law joined Gilley in Afghanistan last year (07), when they made a documentary about the brief ceasefire, titled The Day After Peace.
Gilley told the press: "We are appalled at the situation in Afghanistan and beyond. Nobody wants people to suffer in the way that they are. That is precisely why we came back." Afghanistan has been rocked by gunfight and bombings by militant fighters since the Taliban was removed from power with the help of the U.S. and U.K.
armed forces in 2001, in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:33 pm

Actor ADRIEN GRENIER has learned not to take stories he reads about himself so seriously - after an embarrassing article helped him realise tabloid stories are "insignificant".
The Entourage star admits he now enjoys reading about himself and his famous friends in the press, but he hasn’t always had a high tolerance for humiliation.
Grenier says, "I remember the first piece of bad press that came out about me. They said I was kissing some girl at some club, which was only half-true because I was hoping that I could kiss somebody, but I never actually did.
"I was devastated. I had cold chills… I’ve realised how insignificant all that is, because I know who I am.
"Take one part truth and 1,000 parts speculation and hearsay, and you’ve got yourself a tabloid story."

SCHNABEL CAUGHT UP IN AFFAIR RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

A representative for director JULIAN SCHNABEL has failed to put an end to rumours the star’s marriage is in trouble, despite reports he is romancing Palestinian author RULA JEBREAL.
According to reports, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly filmmaker and his second wife Olatz López Garmendia have not been seen in public together since February (08), when they attended the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party.
And the New York Post’s gossip column Page Six is now speculating over allegations that Schnabel and Jebreal are romantically involved, after working together on turning her book Miral into a film.
Schnabel, who announced his involvement in the project earlier this year (08), was reportedly spotted holding hands with Jebreal last week (ends29Aug08) while in Israel to scout locations for the movie. They were then reportedly seen heading to Schnabel’s luxury home in the Middle Eastern country.
Another source tells the publication that Garmendia - the mother of two of Schnabel’s children - is "despondent and distraught" over the claims.
Schnabel’s spokesperson has confirmed the movie is in the works, but has refused to comment on the nature of the director’s relationship with Jebreal, or the status of his marriage.

GRANT: ‘U.S. ELECTION IS LIKE A MOVIE’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Reggae legend EDDY GRANT is amused by the glitzy build-up to the U.S.
presidential election - because it’s just like watching a Hollywood film.
The I Don’t Wanna Dance singer insists the events leading up to the big vote captures the public’s imagination because of its movie-like ‘good guy, bad guy’ element.
And he praises British voters for refusing to allow former Prime Minister Tony Blair to be too showbiz in his approach to government.
Grant tells WENN, "The election? There is a lot of Hollywood going on, which is what America is all about and which is what makes it great, I suppose. They are able to connect with people so well.
"This is a great opportunity for America to expose itself and show everything about itself. It has that classic Hollywood thing going on - good guy, bad guy - black guy, white guy. It has all the pieces for the jigsaw - the entertainment jigsaw.
"It’s really entertainment. There isn’t any talk about people or issues it’s literally about entertainment. That’s America - and there ain’t nobody going to be complaining! "What happens here (in the U.K.) is classic because we have Mr. Blair and the whole rest of the world following George Bush and his Hollywood mentality, and the people of this country turned around and said, ‘We don’t want Hollywood, we want a Prime Minister, a President’.
"I think the rest of the world really has to put the brakes on America and talk to them in terms of, ‘You are the chief policemen of the world and you must be seen’. But hey – it’s only rock and roll!" Grant is currently on his first world tour for more than 20 years.
