PAUL WALL CALLS FOR RAPPERS TO CELEBRATE MARRIED LIFE
PAUL WALL has urged his married rap peers to be more honest about their status - and celebrate matrimony.
The Texas-based rap star, real name Paul Slayton, wed longtime girlfriend Crystal in 2005 after realising she was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with - and he can’t understand why more rappers don’t make a big deal about married life.
He says, "There are so many (married) people out there that are ashamed of it… specifically rappers. They don’t want people to know they’re married, because they think it will taint their record sales or girls won’t like them.
"I think more women respect me now, knowing that I’m married and I love my wife.
"If you don’t want people to know you married, you should never got married (sic)." Wall hopes the example set by himself, Will Smith and Snoop Dogg will prompt other rappers to feel proud of their marriages.
He tells XXL magazine, "With Snoop, with his (reality) show, Father Hood, that’s a great show for hip-hop, because it shows you can still be married, have kids and still be the same you."
