T.I. MAKES CHART HISTORY IN CHARGE TO THE TOP
Rapper T.I. will be crowned the king of the U.S. singles chart on Thursday (28Aug08) after scoring the biggest jump to number one in Billboard countdown history.
His Whatever U Want has rocketed to the top of the Hot 100 from a lowly 71, according to unofficial chart estimates.
The track’s success is largely down to digital sales - it notched up a staggering 205,000 downloads in a week in its charge to number one.
The chart jump shatters the previous record, which Maroon 5 claimed in 2007 with Makes Me Wonder, which shot up the chart from 64 to number one.
The song will be T.I.’s first number one as a lead artist.
