ALICE COOPER’S BARBARELLA INSPIRATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

Veteran rocker ALICE COOPER has cited 1968 movie BARBARELLA as the inspiration for his onstage persona.
The musician - real name Vincent Furnier - gave his self-titled band a unique look with black clothes and lashings of dark make-up. The group went on to introduce innovative theatrical horror elements to their gigs.
And Furnier insists that his initial inspiration came from watching Jane Fonda’s sci-fi classic.
He says, "Without Barbarella there would be no Alice Cooper. When I saw Anita Pallenberg playing the Great Tyrant in that movie in 1968, wearing long black leather gloves with switchblades coming out of them, I thought, ‘That’s what Alice should look like.’ That and a bit of Emma Peel from the Avengers."
