LEDGER NEVER SAW THE DARK KNIGHT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

HEATH LEDGER never saw his final film before he died in January (08).
The Dark Knight director Chris Nolan has now screened the first trailer for the tragic actor, but he was still editing the upcoming blockbuster when Ledger lost his life.
Nolan says, "He was already on another film. It was months and months since we’d wrapped. We had really cut a lot of the film together and watched the film a couple of times and were about halfway through the edit process.
"Unfortunately he’d only seen the prologue, the introduction to his character shot with these IMAX cameras and put out as a short film in IMAX for Christmas.
"We screened it for him and he enjoyed it very much. It gave him a taste of how it was going to come across but I was never able to show him his finished performance and that’s very sad." Ledger is already receiving rave reviews for his portrayal of The Joker, with many critics suggesting the Aussie is a clear front runner for an Oscar.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:48 pm

MADONNA’s representatives have fired back at allegations the pop star endangered the safety of pedestrians after telling her drivers to get her to a New York rehearsal on time at any cost.
The singer, who is currently in New York rehearsing for her upcoming Sticky and Sweet tour, allegedly told her chauffeur to run red lights and use "lights and sirens" to get her to studios on time, according to reports.
But a spokesperson for Madonna has dismissed the claims, stating, "I can’t imagine they would go through red lights unless there was a dire security emergency. But I’m sure she is transported with utmost respect for other people."

ZIMMER CONSIDERED SCRAPPING BATMAN SCORE AFTER LEDGER’S DEATH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

Revered movie composer HANS ZIMMER was so devastated about the death of pal HEATH LEDGER he considered scrapping his score for the new BATMAN film and starting all over again.
Zimmer feared the music for scenes featuring Ledger’s The Joker character was too dark and menacing - and was worried it wasn’t respectful enough.
The award-winning composer tells Parade.com, "I, for a moment, was thinking, ‘Oh my God, I should throw out all the music I’ve written for The Joker and just start over again,’ which is just exactly the wrong thing to do.
"To honour his (Ledger) performance, I had to stick to my guns. The music has to portray the philosophy of anarchy that The Joker displays in the face of Batman’s valour.
"I couldn’t soften the music or compromise the evil he projects because Heath really did give such a tremendous performance. If I had taken my eye off the ball, if I had been sentimental, if I had done anything like that, it would really have not served him."

CATWOMAN MERIWETHER’S ODD AUDITION TACTICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

BATMAN star LEE MERIWETHER has revealed the unusual audition technique that landed her a role in the history-making film - licking herself.
The 73-year-old actress, who starred as Catwoman in the 1966 Batman film, beat out hundreds of women for the role.
And she says it was her feline-like ways that convinced director Leslie Martinson she was perfect for the part.
Meriwether says, "Julie Newmar played the role originally then she couldn’t do the film. I was lucky, I auditioned - I got the part over hundreds of gals.
"I curled up in a chair and licked my hand. I was a cat." The role of Catwoman has since been reprised by stars including Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer.

PRINCE CHARLES FUELS HYBRID CAR WITH SURPLUS WINE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

British Royal PRINCE CHARLES has joined the celebrity craze of ‘going green’ by powering his car collection on eco-friendly fuels.
The Prince of Wales, who owns a bevy of high-powered vehicles, has turned his 38-year-old Aston Martin into a hybrid, fuelling its engine with surplus English wine.
The royal’s other vehicles, including Jaguars, an Audi and Range Rovers, are powered using bio-diesel made from cooking oil.
In an effort to reduce his carbon footprint, the eco-conscious prince has managed to slash his carbon dioxide emissions by 18 per cent.
Charles’ chief aide Sir Michael Peat says, "Charles only travelled two or three hundred miles a year in the Aston but he wanted it to be environmentally-friendly. It just happened that our bio-ethanol supplier makes the fuel from surplus English wine."

NO DIVORCE FOR MADONNA AND RITCHIE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

LATEST: MADONNA has dismissed reports she is set to divorce husband GUY RITCHIE.
The couple has been under intense media scrutiny amid rumours they are allegedly on the verge of a permanent split.
Madonna fuelled the speculation by appearing in public in New York without her wedding ring earlier this week (beg30Jun08).
But gossips were left guessing again when filmmaker Ritchie flew to New York on Monday (30Jun08) to be with his wife.
And now the Material Girl’s publicist Liz Rosenberg is setting the record straight - insisting the pair are not divorcing.
She tells People.com, "Madonna’s husband Guy arrived in New York last night to be with his wife and family (not in a last ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving). There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce." Rosenberg also dismissed reports Madonna is having a secret fling with New York Yankees baseball hero Alex Rodriguez.
She adds, "Madonna and Alex have the same manager, Guy Oseary. They have met.
They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week.
There’s really not anything to comment on beyond that." Rosenberg suggests the recent flurry of rumours about the star’s private life isn’t something new.
She added: "It’s nothing new that people are airing tons of dirty laundry Madonna’s way lately - much of it untrue."

BERNHARD TURNS ON MADONNA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

MADONNA’s friendship with SANDRA BERNHARD took an unfunny turn after the comedienne launched into a bitter rant against the superstar during a recent stand-up routine.
The funnywoman and the pop star were tight friends throughout the 1980s and Bernhard once famously joked she had slept with the singer and her first husband Sean Penn.
But, in a tirade during a stand-up routine in Toronto, Canada, Bernhard turned against Madonna when a fan heckled her from the audience, inquiring about the state of the pair’s friendship.
The 53-year-old comedienne quickly quipped she no longer considers herself akin to the star.
Toronto columnist Shinan Govani tells the New York Post, "She (Bernhard) descended into this mad, dark, five-minute freestyle, where she mercilessly mocked the Queen of Pop by repeatedly chanting, ‘We Only Got Four Minutes to Save the World,’ (and) at one point screamed, ‘My chicken is raw!’ After all that, she paused pregnantly and asked, deadpan: ‘Does that answer your question?’" Govani also adds Bernhard had a few words for the star’s new famous friends.
She adds in her own column for Toronto Life: "Sandra began to crap on all the celebrities who like to brag that they ‘work out three hours a day, like Madonna,’ she said, ‘like Gwyneth Paltrow.’"

UNION PROLONGS PARENTING TO PUT OFF ADULTHOOD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:24 pm

Actress GABRIELLE UNION has vowed to put motherhood to one side for a few years - because she’s not responsible enough to play the demanding role of mother.
The 35-year-old star ended her five-year-long marriage to American football star Chris Howard in 2006.
And Union admits the couple never conceived partly because she feared taking on adult responsibilities.
She says, "Right now, I don’t have the same urges as other women when they see a baby. When I see children, I see responsibilities, which I don’t think I’m quite ready for. I feel the same about puppies. They’re cute for a second, but there’s a lot of responsibility involved."
