PETA BOSS URGES STUDENT TO GIVE UP FUR COAT IN LOHAN FUSS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:40 pm

LATEST: The student suing LINDSAY LOHAN for taking her mink coat from a New York nightclub has been asked to donate the garment to the homeless.
Anti-fur activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) want Masha Markov to give up the coat and allow them to give it to the needy.
PETA boss Dan Mathews has written to Markov, explaining, "That coat belonged to dozens of animals that were electrocuted, gassed, strangled, drowned or beaten to death just so you could try to appear wealthy." Mathews suggests Markova watch an anti-fur video hosted by former fur-wearer Martha Stewart and then donate the fur, which was a gift from the student’s grandmother, to the homeless.
Meanwhile, Markova stands to win significant damages if a jury finds the coat mix-up is criminal in nature.
The student’s fur, priced at $12,000 (GBP6,000), was taken from a nighclub in January (08) and returned to her by the venue’s bosses a month later after she spotted Lohan wearing the garment in a magazine photo.
Her lawyer Merrill R. Cohen tells Eonline.com, "We got the coat back, but it’s not sufficient. She had the coat for several weeks. You don’t just return it and that’s that." He claims the coat was returned with a tear in the lining and was stained.
But Lohan’s publicist says, "This is crazy! The bombing of Lindsay has to stop."

Eccentric movie star NICK NOLTE is giving himself a tough time in a bizarre new interview-led documentary on his craft.
In Nick Nolte: No Exit, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France earlier this week (beg19May08), the actor poses questions to himself - and then wearily answers many of the queries.
Nolte rebukes himself for a "silly question" about working in the theatre in the film and gets animated when his questioning self asks how many times the 67-year-old has been married.
He grumbles, "How many wives can you have? Come on, come on… let’s go on.
Next question." The Nolte study film, which features tributes from famous friends like Ben Stiller and Jacqueline Bisset, also touched on the actor’s 2002 DUI arrest.
He says, "That has now been voted the best celebrity mug shot. Are you proud of that?" Director Tom Thurman was in Cannes trying to find a distributor for the odd film.

DOUGLAS FIGHTS FOR NUCLEAR-FREE WORLD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:37 pm

MICHAEL DOUGLAS met with top senators in Washington D.C. on Wednesday (21May08) in a bid to make sure the next U.S. President and his advisors will be anti-nuclear.
The actor met with Indiana Senator Richard Lugar, among others, to urge them to prevent the spread and use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons as a director of the Ploughshares Fund organisation, which is dedicated to making the world a safer place.
Douglas admits his meetings went well and he’s hopeful that America will be doing what it can to trade in peace in the coming years.
He says, "We’re trying to get advice… about the future of the elections coming up and what Ploughshares and other organisations can do to reduce the threat of nuclear weapons.
"It’s been very positive - we’ve got a very bi-partisan sense from the senate and from the congress and have hopes for the New Year (when a new President is elected)." And Douglas believes the answer to lessening the world’s nuclear threat lies in treaties that are set for renegotiation in the coming years.
He adds, "If these treaties come back and we can gain some trust with each other and dramatically reduce the number of nuclear weapons that are in the world today it will make the world a safer place."

STEVEN TYLER CHECKS INTO REHAB

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:28 pm

AEROSMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER has checked himself into rehab for treatment of substance abuse.
The 60-year-old rocker has admitted himself to a Pasadena, California clinic for unspecified treatment.
The former hellraiser managed to stay sober for 20 years before re-entering a substance abuse programme. He first sought treatment in 1986 after finding himself under pressure from his bandmates to clean up his act.
According to website TMZ.com, Tyler will undergo detox at Las Encinas Hospital drug rehabilitation clinic - the same facility where Hollywood Madame Heidi Fleiss, rocker Sebastian Bach and pop star Aaron Carter will be treated as they make a public attempt at sobriety on U.S. reality TV programme Celebrity Rehab next month (Jun08).
The singer and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry were dubbed the Toxic Twins for their legendary intake of heroin and stimulants before the band’s demanding schedule clashed with their major drug abuse, leading to their brief disbanding in the 1980s.
It has been a tough month for the Livin’ on The Edge rocker, whose daughter Liv recently went public with her split from rocker husband Royston Langdon.
Tyler credited his actress daughter’s influence for his first successful attempt at sobriety.
Tyler’s spokesperson has declined to comment on his current condition.
