HASSELHOFF PLANS CASTLE SHOWS AND VEGAS RUN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:43 pm

DAVID HASSELHOFF is developing his own rock opera with the writer who turned him into DR. JEKYL and MR. HYDE onstage.
The former Baywatch creator has teamed up with Frank Wildhorn to create a musical which he’ll perform in castles around the world with an orchestra.
He says, "Frank has written some beautiful music and about two years ago I made a deal to sing his gorgeous songs, take the tuxedo and the orchestra into a castle. The songs are really healing for me." Ambitious Hasselhoff also has plans to stage a one-man show, called Viva Hoff Vegas, in Sin City.
The ever-fun star reveals, "It’s a fun act. I had a ball in Vegas with The Producers and I think Vegas wants to see The Hoff, so I’m putting together a knock-down, drag-out, crazy, make-fun-of-my-life, Hoff show that also tells my story.
"It’ll be a little about Baywatch, about Knight Rider, about the Wall in Germany. I’ve got footage of all of this; I’ve saved everything.
"Then we might do a sexy after-hours show at the (Las Vegas German-themed club and restaurant) Hofbrau House, which already offered me the gig. I love Vegas because you can live outside in Red Rock, breathe the air and then go crazy in the casino.
"My audience is really there because I’ve been around for so long. "I’m dead set on this stage show because I feel as if I can do it after The Producers.
I’ve become good friends with (creator) Mel Brooks, which is an honour.
"I’m 55 and I’ve finally arrived because Mel Brooks told me that I was good.
It made me go, `Wow!’ To me that was it. Even though I was wearing a dress and playing a gay Hitler at the time."

RICCI JOINED RAPE PREVENTION GROUP AS REACTION TO FILM MARKETING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:40 pm

Actress CHRISTINA RICCI was so disturbed by the marketing campaign for her movie BLACK SNAKE MOAN, she became an activist for rape victims.
The 28-year-old actress starred in the 2006 drama as Rae, a sexually abused girl desperate for male attention.
But when she saw herself appearing on film posters posing seductively in a navel-bearing top and revealing shorts, the actress was prompted to step up her involvement in the Tori Amos-founded organisation RAINN (The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network).
She says, "I wasn’t really comfortable with the way (Black Snake Moan) was being marketed and I was trying to combat how exploitive that campaign was, given what I thought the movie was about when I was making it.
"So I became directly involved with RAINN (on the issue of) rape trauma syndrome, and they were like, ‘Wow, you know a lot about this.’ "They asked me to be their national spokesperson, which was amazing. Then they invited me to go to Washington to lobby the Congressional Appropriations Committee for funding for legislation. That was crazy. I didn’t know just anyone could go and meet with congress-people. I kept saying, ‘You guys know I didn’t go to college, right? I’m just an actress."

LOHAN BANNED FROM MUM’S NEW SHOW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:40 pm

LINDSAY LOHAN’s mother DINA has banned her movie-star daughter from making an appearance on her upcoming reality TV show - because she insists it would be bad for her career.
Dina, 45, will front upcoming eight-episode series Living Lohan, which will follow the manager-mum as she navigates the careers of her two younger children, Ali, 14, and Cody, 11.
But fans of her most famous daughter needn’t tune in, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Mean Girls star - Lindsay won’t be appearing.
Dina says, "I told Lindsay I don’t want her on the show right now. Doing reality TV would almost be taking a step backward as far as her career." Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan, has previously warned the Mean Girls star to stay away from her mother’s reality show, fearing Dina would use the 21-year-old to further her own career in the entertainment industry.
But Lohan’s mother insists her intentions are genuine: "I did this to defuse the rumours about my family. The media has just been so horrific to us over the past two years. I just want to get the message across that we are a normal family." The new reality show will premiere in the U.S. this weekend (24May08).

CHESNEY UPSET ABOUT ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC DISRESPECT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:31 pm

The singer thanks fans for voting for him online during his acceptance speech from the stage, but behind the scenes he was far from happy the night’s big award was decided by an Internet vote.
Chesney growled, "They took it (award) from what the award really represents into a sweepstakes to see who can push people’s buttons the hardest on the Internet.
"It’s complete disrespect for the artist… It really diminishes the integrity of the music that we’re making. And I can say that because I won."

BLANCHETT DIRECTED BY LaBEOUF & FORD ON INDIANA JONES SET

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:49 pm

CATE BLANCHETT was forced to revaluate her acting skills on the set of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, when her co-stars HARRISON FORD and SHIA LaBEOUF jokingly butchered her performance.
Blanchett, 38, plays a Russian spy in the film and stars opposite leading men LaBeouf, 21, and Ford, 65, in the latest installment of the action franchise.
But she was left questioning her acting abilities when director Steven Spielberg allowed her fun-loving peers to instruct her.
She says, "The boys would come on set and there was a day when Steven (Spielberg) even let them direct me. He gave them the big megaphone and they called, ‘Action!’ and criticised my performance.
"They said it wasn’t good enough and (I should) go back and do it again."

BROSNAN FEARED HUMILIATION IN FRONT OF NEW BOND CRAIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:49 pm

Irish actor PIERCE BROSNAN almost rejected his role in movie-musical MAMMA MIA! - because he feared looking silly in front of his JAMES BOND replacement DANIEL CRAIG.
Brosnan, 55, played 007 in four of the action series’ films before turning over his role to Craig for 2006’s Casino Royale.
And although Brosnan doesn’t regret his decision to retire as James Bond, he admits he was scared his all-singing and dancing role as Sam Carmichael in the 1970s ABBA-inspired film would be too far a departure from his days as the British spy.
He says, "I drew the drapes in my dressing room, looked in the mirror, and there was 007 - only he was getting ready to expose himself to possible ridicule by starring in a movie musical called Mamma Mia! "One of my daydreams was that I’d be strutting across the parking lot in sequined tights and a cape, and I would bump into Mr. Daniel Craig, looking very Bond-like. It never happened, I’m pleased to say."
