Actress LUCY LIU quit boxing after a near-knockout almost left her with a broken nose.
The Charlie’s Angels tough girl stepped into the ring in a bid to keep fit but quickly discovered she doesn’t have what it takes to be a champ.
She says, "I went into a boxing ring with this other girl and she punched me square in the nose.
"It was so painful. I didn’t break my nose but I did see stars. That was it, the end of it for me… I don’t think I’m strong enough to take it."

Scottish actor ALAN CUMMING is turning his back on theatre to pursue his big screen career - because he can no longer afford to live on a stage actor’s wage.
The X-Men star is a celebrated star of the stage, winning a Tony Award for his performance in musical Cabaret in 1998, but he finds the theatre’s pitiful pay cheques a struggle.
And the breaking point came earlier this year (08) when Cumming’s appearance in renowned play The Seagull earned him less than he was paying his own personal assistant.
He says, "It’s not been a high-earning year. I just did The Seagull off Broadway. I was getting paid less than half what I pay my assistant. When I did Garfield I did two days and made a ton.
"Those are the things that allow me to go off and do the piddly (tiny) little things. But none of this theatre lark any more - I need to earn a bit of money."

Actor TOMMY LEE JONES is set to produce, direct and star in a new adaptation of ERNEST HEMINGWAY’s book ISLANDS IN THE STREAM.
The Fugitive star, 61, has penned the script - based on the 1970 novel about a reclusive painter and his life before, during and after World War II - with The Perfect Storm writer Bill Witliff.
Morgan Freeman and John Goodman are also said to be in negotiations to join the project, which is due to be presented to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (18May08), according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Islands in the Stream will be Jones’ second directorial effort; 2005’s The Three Burials of Melquiadas Estrada was his first.

DONALD TRUMP has filed suit against an Israeli developer who allegedly used his name to boost sales of a luxury property development - demanding a share of the profits.
The real-estate mogul has filed legal papers at Manhattan Supreme Court claiming he licensed the name Trump Plaza to luxury condo builder, Crescent Heights Diamond, for the construction of a 70-storey tower in Israeli capital Tel Aviv.
Trump allegedly signed a deal giving a 25 per cent share on each unit sold in return for the use of his brand name.
But the company later sold the $44 million (£22 million) land to another development company for $80 million (£40 million) and Trump insists he deserves a slice of the $36 million (£18 million) profit.
He tells The New York Post, "They (Crescent Heights Diamond), announce with tremendous fanfare that Trump is their partner. Then, instead of building, they flip the site. They used my name to pump up the value, then made a big profit.
"We put this site on the map, and under the contract they are obligated to complete the project. They are not good representatives for the great state of Israel and they should be ashamed of themselves." Crescent’s lawyer Saul Sack refutes the claims, saying Trump "is not entitled to any compensation", adding, "The lawsuit is without merit."

HEROES actress HAYDEN PANETTIERE has urged the media to allow troubled BRITNEY SPEARS the space she needs "to heal".
The star has accused the hordes of snappers who constantly pursue Spears of ruining the pop star’s life - likening their behaviour to that of an obsessed "stalker".
And the actress believes the photographers’ behaviour is dangerous insisting Spears’ recent string of car collisions is down to them taking high risks to ensure they get lucrative snaps of the star.
She says, "I love acting more than anything else in the world, so I can’t see myself stopping. But I think this situation is becoming so dangerous - it causes car accidents.
"There’s no differences between what they do and stalking somebody. Look at somebody like Britney Spears - who deals with 50 cars following her all the time - nobody gives her room to heal." And Panettiere is devastated the Toxic singer has fallen out of favour with music fans - because she was her idol growing up.
She adds, "To me growing up, she was everything, and we built her up and ripped her down."

LATEST: UGLY BETTY star AMERICA FERRERA is worried about moving her hit show from Los Angeles to the east coast - because she fears filming will upset New Yorkers.
The city’s mayor Michael Bloomberg welcomed the series’ relocation after producers announced the show would be moving east last week (06May08) to make the most of new tax incentives on offer in New York.
According to city officials, the move will create more than 200 jobs in the Big Apple.
But Ferrera isn’t convinced New Yorkers are so eager so see the show leave its L.A. roots.
She says, "I’m excited. I’m a little nervous too. New Yorkers are really cool. I’m just a little nervous about hoe they’re going to accept the show.
We’ll be on the street blocking the way." Crewmembers on the L.A. set protested the decision last week (08May08), when its 300-strong staff banded together to take out an ad in trade paper Variety to highlight the resulting job losses prompted by the move.

The cast of SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE were rocked by a security scare while they were visiting London to promote the new film - when a man sneaked into KIM CATTRALL’s hotel suite.
Cattrall was conducting a press junket at the city’s prestigious Claridge’s Hotel along with castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis when a crazed fan, posing as a foreign journalist, reportedly sneaked past security.
The man managed to get through several security checks to access the floor where all four actresses were staying. He then found his way into Cattrall’s room, where he is said to have cornered her alone - frightening the actress with his "erratic behaviour".
A source tells London newspaper Metro, "He was alone in a room with Kim Cattrall and began pestering her for autographs. She was very flustered, and it was lucky someone walked in and spotted him as his behaviour was getting more and more erratic.
"Hotel staff ordered him to leave but he didn’t go quietly. They bundled him out as quietly as possible but Kim was pretty frightened. The other girls found out what had happened and were also freaked out. But they’re old pros and they didn’t let it affect their schedules."

Former THE STRANGLERS frontman HUGH CORNWELL has hit out at punk fans who hope the legendary band will reunite - telling them to "move on".
The band, which split in 1990 after 17 years, was at the forefront of the punk movement in 1970s Britain, and spawned iconic tracks including Peaches and No More Heroes.
But Cornwell can’t understand why people are desperate for the now defunct rockers to get back together, and insists no amount of money would make him consider a comeback.
He tells Britain’s The Word magazine, "Various people have tried to put it back together, but I couldn’t be bothered. Creatively it’s the last thing I would want to do. Move on.
"I’ve been offered loads of money to do it but I don’t need that kind of money. It’s in the make-up of human genome to look back and think of the nice things, through rose-tinted glasses, but you mustn’t get fooled." He adds, "What am I going to get out of it? What’s in it for me to get on stage with the rest of The Stranglers? What do I get? A cheque? I need something else. What do I need a cheque for? "Don’t give me the, ‘Oh, but the fans will get something out of it.’ F**k the fans. They got 17 years out of us. What do they want, Blood?"

Rocker TOM DeLONGE was high on a two-year addiction to painkillers when he called his new outfit ANGELS & AIRWAVES the "best band in the world".
The former Blink 182 star turned to medication to numb the pain of a back injury, and the side effects of the pills left him in a "state of euphoria".
DeLonge understands why people were hostile to his arrogant claims about Angels & Airwaves, but insists they were not the words of a mentally balanced individual.
He says, "We just finished a documentary that we’ve been filming for two and a half years which really gets into why I said all that s**t.
"I was a drug addict at the time, because of the painkillers I was taking for my back, and I wasn’t saying things the right way. I was in such a state of euphoria because of the drugs, that I didn’t realise how many people were going to get annoyed by me saying that.

AMERICAN IDOL winner TAYLOR HICKS will join the Broadway production of GREASE next month (06Jun08) for a three-month stint as THE TEEN ANGEL.
The 31-year-old singer, whose Idol fan base was dubbed The Soul Patrol, plans to add "soulful flavour" to his performance of the song Beauty School Dropout, a tune originally made famous by Frankie Avalon in the 1978 film.
He says, "It’s a big number, and, you know, I’ve made some pretty grand entrances before. And this one is probably the grandest entrance I’ve had in my career." The grey-haired crooner, who won the TV talent competition in 2006, will end his run at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on 7 September (08).

Eighties boyband NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK performed their first concert in 14 years to legions of screaming fans who camped outside for two days awaiting their comeback on Friday’s (16May08) U.S. TV show TODAY.
The five-piece performed a medley of their 1990s hits on the show - announced during a reunion appearance on the morning TV programme last month (04Apr08).
They mused of their hiatus, "It’s eerie. It’s almost like the last 15 years didn’t happen because it’s so effortless. It’s very humbling.
"We could get very weepy right now and sappy… The friendship is still there and it really made it worth all of us suspending what we were doing with the rest of our lives to come together and do this one more time." But the bandmates - who are all now in their mid-to-late thirties - admit coming together since their teen stardom proved to be a challenge: "It’s like riding a mountain bike. The recording was easier. Then we started dance rehearsals - that took a few days for all of us to get acclimated. We’re being tested though, today is a test of our determination." The NKOTB reunion comes 20 years after the release of the group’s album Hangin’ Tough, which became one of the biggest hits of the late 1980s and early 1990s, helping them to amass 70 million album sales during their career.
The pop group will begin their reunion tour in September (08) when it kicks off in Toronto, Canada. A new album is set for release this autumn (08).

Rapper FOXY BROWN has parted ways with her manager CHAZ WILLIAMS, accusing him of compiling her new album "without her approval" during her time in jail.
The star - real name Inga Marchand - was sent to prison in September last year (07) for violating her probation, stemming from a 2006 assault conviction for attacking two manicurists in 2004. She was released from New York’s Rikers Prison last month (Apr08).
Marchand claims she had no control over the content of Brooklyn Don Diva which was compiled during her eight-month spell behind bars and is due for release next month (Jun08).
And she blames Williams for going ahead with the LP without her and has decided to terminate their working relationship. She insists she would normally have filed legal action but her recent legal woes have put her off spending any more time in court.
She tells Allhiphop.com, "I heard this CD in its entirety for the first time just days ago and was devastated. Riddled with grief over an album that was seemingly so carelessly orchestrated, I sat down with the president of Koch (records) to come to a decision on how to make the best of this situation.
"In another phase of my life and career, I would have dealt with this situation with litigation, but for the benefit of my fans and in the wake of the profound spiritual cleansing I recently underwent in prison, I made the decision to settle our creative differences amicably. My fans have waited seven years for an in-store release and deserve my very best." Following Marchand’s release from prison she was sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to attacking a woman with her cellphone last year (Jul07).

LATEST: Teen star MILEY CYRUS has hit back at accusations she ripped off a Los Angeles band’s song - because she doesn’t write any of her own music.
Los Angeles band Lustra fired claims Cyrus’ song Rockstar is a carbon copy of their Scotty Doesn’t Know tune on Wednesday (14May08).
The band - whose track appeared on the soundtrack to 2004 movie Eurotrip was alerted to Cyrus’ song-similarities by fans, and has since determined the tunes are virtually the same, despite mismatching lyrics.
A spokesperson for Cyrus insists, "She doesn’t write the songs - she sings them. We have referred this to Disney." According to The New York Post, the band "is considering various options to rectify this situation".

Actress MINKA KELLY has given her ex-boyfriend JOHN MAYER her blessing to date former FRIENDS star JENNIFER ANISTON.
Kelly and Mayer enjoyed a four-month relationship after the rocker split with Jessica Simpson last year (07).
The couple broke up in January (08) and Mayer has subsequently been linked to Aniston, having spent several romantic weekends with the actress.
And although the pair have yet to confirm they are an item, Kelly insists she harbours no ill feelings towards her ex-lover and wishes him well if he is dating Aniston.

Movie icon JOAN COLLINS has hinted she may be interested in a cameo role on legendary British sci-fi series DOCTOR WHO - after she fell for the charms of the show’s star DAVID TENNANT.
The Dynasty star visited the set after being hounded by her grandchildren to arrange a guided tour of the BBC show’s set - and expected to be bored by the backstage activities.
But Collins soon became enamoured with Scottish actor Tennant, after he politely spoke to her grandchildren, who had accosted him with questions about his famous character.
She says, "I have seldom met an actor more gracious and charming to visitors to a film set. For 15 minutes David Tennant patiently answered all the children’s questions.
"As one who has spent most of their adult life on a sound stage, I was feeling quite blase about visiting the set of Doctor Who.
She adds, "The thought amused me because of the intense excitement of nine-year-old Miel and Weston, four, my daughter Tara’s children, who had barely slept the previous night in breathless anticipation."

The 43-year-old’s young tot hates to see the star dressed in glamorous gowns, because he connects Parker’s designer wares with her leaving the house to go to work.

GEORGE LUCAS has stunned partygoers at the Cannes Film Festival by deciding against throwing a lavish launch party to celebrate the premiere of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.
The legendary moviemaker has ignored the French film festival’s usual etiquette by snubbing a spectacular premiere after-party in favour of a comparatively compact ‘filmmakers party’ - with just 250 guests - after the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is premiered at the event on Sunday (18May08).
The move comes amid rumours the film was panned by movies bosses in Los Angeles who previewed Harrison Ford’s revival of his role as the whip-cracking adventurer, according to Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.
And Lucas, who worked on the eagerly awaited film with veteran director Steven Spielberg, is seemingly trying to play down the hype surrounding the movie, in case it’s a flop with film fans.
He says, "When you do a movie like this, people anticipate that it’s going to be the Second Coming. And it’s not. It’s just a movie. You’re not going to get a lot of accolades doing a movie like this. All you can do is lose."

LATEST: Broadway star ADRIAN BAILEY is to sue movie giant DISNEY after injuring himself by falling through a trap door before a performance of THE LITTLE MERMAID.
The actor was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with a broken back, a shattered pelvis, a fractured sternum, multiple broken ribs, a fractured foot and broken wrists just moments before a matinee of the stage show at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York on 10 May (08).
The 51-year-old, who has several roles in the theatre version of the 1989 Disney movie, was forced to undergo emergency surgery.
Bailey’s attorney Mark Manus says, "There’s an expression that somebody broke every bone in his body. Well, this is pretty close.
"He’s lucky to be alive." In a petition filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, New York, Bailey asks for an order to preserve the boat scenery so it will be available for his planned lawsuit. Disney spokesman Joe Quenqua says, "We have launched a thorough investigation of the circumstances related to this incident and will continue making the safety of our company members a top priority." Bailey remains in intensive care.
