MADONNA will kick off her Sticky & Sweet world tour in Wales on 23 August (08), before hitting some of the world’s most spectacular sporting arenas.
Just days after her Hard Candy album topped charts in 27 countries, including the U.S., the U.K., France, Japan and Australia, the pop superstar has announced dates for her gruelling late summer tour.
Shows will kick off at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales and stop-offs will include Wembley Stadium in London, Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium, Madison Square Garden in New York and Olympic Stadiums in Berlin, Germany and Rome, Italy.
The Sticky & Sweet tour will also hit South America later this year (08), but dates for these shows are yet to be finalised.
The whole tour will be directed by Madonna’s long time creative collaborator and choreographer Jamie King.

MARIAH CAREY and FERGIE have reportedly pulled the plug on their Dubai concerts, which were scheduled to take place next week (15-16May08).
Carey’s show at The Festival was set to be the singer’s first public performance since her wedding to rapper/actor Nick Cannon last week (30Apr08).
But the new bride won’t be making the trip, according to internet reports and Fergie has cancelled her show too.
A statement from the promoters of the concerts reads, "Midas Promotions along with Blue Giraffe Entertainment and On Golden Pond Pictures regret to announce the Divas in Dubai concert event is being rescheduled to a later date in the Fall 2008.
"Mariah and Fergie are disappointed that they won’t be able to perform. They had scheduled this one special event in their calendars and were looking forward to performing for the Dubai fans."

BRITNEY SPEARS is on the hunt for a new home again.
The pop star is reportedly planning to buy a $6 million (£3 million) mansion in Encino, California.
Spears spent Wednesday afternoon (07May08) looking around the five-bedroom property, which is situated close to her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s home in nearby Tarzana.
The house Spears looked at comes with fountains, a jacuzzi, a swimming pool with a spa and a wine cellar.
The move to the Valley makes sense for Spears, who was awarded added custody of her two young sons earlier this week (06May08).
Spears’ custody rights were suspended in January (08) after police and emergency services were called to the singer’s home after she refused to hand over one of her sons to a Federline bodyguard following a visitation period.
Ever since then Spears has been fighting to regain visitation. The arrangement was modified a month ago when Federline agreed his troubled ex could spend time with their sons again as long as the visits were properly supervised.

Veteran actress SUSAN SARANDON was unfazed when doctors told her she was infertile - because she never felt she needed a baby to make her happy.
The Oscar winner admits she never longed to have kids of her own and was not especially upset when she found out she may never conceive.
Sarandon resigned herself to a life without children, but, when she least expected it, she suddenly found herself pregnant.
She says, "When the doctor told me that (I was infertile), I was actually okay with it. Having had so many younger siblings and around 20 nieces and nephews, I’d done an enormous amount of child-caring already, so I wasn’t one of those people who thought, ‘To complete myself as a woman, I want to have a baby.’ "But part of me was very restless. I didn’t feel hugely challenged by my career and I was looking for something to give my life more meaning.
"So I became involved politically and was very hands on. Then, lo and behold, I became pregnant." The 61-year-old now has two sons, Jack, 19, and Miles, 16, with longterm partner and fellow actor Tim Robbins.

Pregnant actress MINNIE DRIVER is contemplating leaving America and moving back to her native U.K. - so her baby can be raised as a Brit.
The Good Will Hunting star moved to Los Angeles several years ago to pursue her acting career - which has seen her land the lead role in hit TV show The Riches.
And although she loves certain aspects of the U.S., she would prefer her child to grow up in Britain.
She says, "A big part of me wants my child to be English. My family are here and I’m sure I’ll move back here one day.
"It’s just that my work, and the opportunities I’ve had, have been so varied and wonderful in the States. But obviously politically, in America, it’s a bloody mess."

Furious crewmembers on sitcom UGLY BETTY are protesting the loss of hundreds of jobs on the hit TV show, when production moves from Los Angeles to New York City.
Plans to transfer the programme’s production to the Big Apple were announced on Tuesday (06May08), but 300 people who currently contribute to the making of the programme - ranging from the dry cleaners and caterers to the construction firms - have slammed the show’s bosses for the move.
And they are making their feelings known by taking out a full-page advert in Hollywood’s top trade paper Variety, hitting out at the shock decision, which aims to take advantage of New York’s new tax credits for Hollywood productions.
The disgruntled staff have all rallied together to raise the cash for the eye-catching ad, in which they write an open letter addressed to Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other local authorities to help stop the loss of more business.
The letter reads: "We are writing to you because we just lost our jobs. We are the 300 plus members of the crew of the television show Ugly Betty. We were informed this Tuesday that the production of our show is moving to New York primarily because of the 35 per cent tax incentives being offered by the state of New York.
"Instead of making good wages and paying our fair share of California state income tax, we will all be collecting Unemployment Benefits. In addition, we will certainly be cutting our spending back to the bone, which will not only cut back our sales tax contributions substantially, but it could end up costing the jobs of the people who provide services and products to us. Not only are these crew positions being lost; all of our local vendors are losing our business…
"So, while the loss of our individual positions may be insignificant, the loss of this production is staggering. Now multiply this by all the other productions going to New York, New Mexico, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina and other states with incentives, not to mention Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Eastern Europe, etc. and the cost to the California state economy is monumental. We implore you to do everything in your power to level the playing field and bring our jobs back to California by enacting meaningful incentives to keep film and television production in our state."

Pregnant actress MINNIE DRIVER has dismissed the idea of a rush wedding to her unborn baby’s father, because a marriage certificate is "not important" to her.
The Good Will Hunting star, 38, revealed she was pregnant with her first child during a 13 March (08) appearance on U.S. TV’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
However, Driver has so far refused to reveal the identity of the unborn tot’s daddy, and on Thursday (08May08) was forced to deny Californian musician Craig Zolezzi was the child’s other parent.
But, regardless of who the father is, she has warned fans not to expect a quicky wedding.
Asked whether she will marry the baby’s daddy, she says, "Definitely not in the near future. It’s not important to me. I don’t think a piece of paper lends itself to the idea of being a good parent and I want to be a good parent."

The goth-like emo music trend has been hit with a new controversy - a 13-year-old devotee of the movement has hanged herself, reportedly to impress fans of bands like FALL OUT BOY and MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE.
The emo movement hit headlines recently after fans were targeted in South America and bullied and tormented for their all-black fashion sense and music taste.
And now Hannah Bond’s bedroom suicide has sparked controversy in Britain.
The teenager, who called herself Living Disaster, hanged herself from a bunk bed in her bedroom, after telling her parents she was going to kill herself.
At her inquest, coroner Roger Sykes admitted he found elements of the emo movement "very disturbing", according to the Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The inquest was told Bond was an avid fan of My Chemical Romance and spent hours in online chat rooms talking about her musical obsession and thoughts of suicide.
Bond told online friends of her plans to hang herself and live on in the afterlife as a member of "the black parade" - the title of My Chemical Romance’s last album.

Rap mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS has lavished praise on the cast of the upcoming NOTORIOUS B.I.G. biopic, because the actors bear an uncanny resemblance to the hip-hop stars they portray on screen.
The film, Notorious, tells the story of the late rapper’s rise to stardom in the mid-1990s, and features portrayals of stars like Lil’ Kim, Tupac Shakur, and Combs himself.
And, after a visit to the movie’s set, the 38-year-old came away especially impressed by actor Derek Luke, who has been cast as Diddy.
He tells MTV.com, "It’s rare that you get a movie made about you when you’re still relevant, but (they) took on the challenge.
"People asked me years ago who you’d want to play me, and I said Derek Luke… So it was just destined. I got to see him do his thing, and it was scary for me. I had to leave, ’cause he was acting just like me." But Combs reserved his highest praise for Jamal ‘Gravy’ Woolard, a young rapper who has landed the lead role.
He adds, "Gravy, the guy playing B.I.G., it was just too eerie for me to be on that. Gravy’s killing it. If I tell you he’s killing it, then that’s all we need to say, you know what I’m saying? R&B producer/songwriter DALLAS AUSTIN has refuted reports he is on the verge of bankruptcy, insisting his 20-year career success in the music industry has ensured he is financially sound for life.
Rumours of Austin’s alleged money problems surfaced online earlier this month (May08), when it was claimed he had fired some of the staffmembers at his label Rowdy Records due to a shortage in cashflow. Further reports suggested his business had also suffered when a number of his proposed ventures fell through after investors withdrew from the projects.
But Austin - who has produced songs for artists like TLC, Madonna, and Michael and Janet Jackson - insists reports of his financial woes are far from true.
He says, "I’ve been doing this since I was 16, 17 years old. I’ve owned publishing companies before anybody around here. I was like the first one to do it.
"I’ve owned studios before anybody around here. I’ve owned 100 per cent of my songs. I’ve invested in films, Rowdy TV… As far as my companies are concerned, I’m my own investor. How could I be broke when you open up DUB (car) magazine and I’m standing there with nine cars? I’ve always been my own investor. I own all my companies by myself. I don’t have no partners." And the 37-year-old - who is set to launch his own fashion label, Rowdy Clothing - claims letting go of the two employees was necessary so he could "restructure the company to bring in new people who know more (about the record business) than I do".

CHER is stunning fans in Las Vegas by literally beaming herself up onstage at Caesars Palace.
The pop diva has just kicked off a residency at the Colosseum venue, which was built for Celine Dion’s A New Day shows - and she’s opening the show with a hologram.
Just before Cher hits the stage from a cage that hangs above the audience, a 3-D hologram of the singer appears in front of fans.
One devotee, who caught the singer’s debut on Tuesday night (06May08), says, "It’s a magical moment - you actually think you’re looking at Cher onstage and then she appears in a cage above you." And the early reviews are looking good for the singer.
Reports suggest the 61-year-old performs 17 songs and changes costumes 16 times. The highlight of the show, according to many fans, comes when Cher sings her smash-hit If I Could Turn Back Time, wearing the revealing black outfit and wig she wore in the video accompanying the song.
Cher will perform four nights a week at the Colosseum for a month before returning for more dates in August (08).

Country music icon EDDY ARNOLD has died a week before his 90th birthday.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member would have hit the landmark on 15 May (08).
Reports suggest Arnold died on Thursday morning (08May08) at an assisted living centre near Nashville, Tennessee.
Thanks to a string of hits throughout his career, Arnold, dubbed the Tennessee Plowboy, is considered country music’s biggest hitmaker on the Billboard charts.
His hits include Make The World Go Away, I Want To Go With You and I Really Don’t Want To Know. Billboard.com reports Arnold enjoyed 28 number one country singles from 1947 until 1968, and he had 92 top 10 hits, including 67 in a row - more than any other artist.
Arnold’s 1947 song I’ll Hold You in My Heart spent 21 weeks at number one, and, in 1948, only one other artist spent time at the top of the charts as the singer clocked up one hit after another.

A German man has won compensation from a car maker after he claimed his feet were too big to use the accelerator on his new car.
A judge Wiesloch said the car makers should have catered for Michael Herzog’s size 12 feet.
He went to court complaining the area around the accelerator of his new Volvo C70 coupe was too small to accommodate his feet.
The court ruled his feet were not abnormally large and the judge said the dealer should give the German five per cent off the price of his new car.
Herzog was awarded a £1,350 refund to pay for a specially made pair of shoes that allowed him to squeeze his foot into the space.

A British cat who has been missing for eight months has been found - in the US.
Jerry was spotted by a US woman watching a webcam, who saw him most evenings, bedding down on the doorstep of a hotel in Polperro.
She then posted a message on the forum of the Cornish village Jerry came from. Jerry’s owner Abbi Rendell said: "Now we are trying to catch him there - but he is proving a bit elusive. "But at least I know he is safe and well."
