Outspoken rapper NAS has applauded YOKO ONO for reportedly splitting up THE BEATLES - because she helped JOHN LENNON develop his solo career.
The I Can hitmaker is a big fan of Lennon’s music and believes he would not have penned classic songs had he still been a member of the Fab Four.
And he credits Lennon’s partner, Ono, for giving her man the courage to go solo.
Going against popular public opinion, Nas says, "How could you not love Yoko…? She gave us Give Peace A Chance, Imagine.
"When John Lennon left the Beatles, he was able to do that s**t." Nas tells the new issue of King magazine that Ono and Lennon are among his heroes, together with Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali and Bob Dylan.

GWYNETH PALTROW had so much fun making summer blockbuster IRON MAN, she is ready to sign up for a sequel.
But the actress confesses she has no idea if it’ll be a big enough success to warrant a second installment, because she hasn’t seen the film in it’s entirety yet.

KYLIE MINOGUE’s Australian fans helped give the pop star a much-needed boost during her cancer battle by refusing to give up their tickets for her cancelled concerts.
The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and had to scrap the Australian leg of her Showgirl tour - but fans Down Under never gave up hope the pop star would return to the stage.
She says, "Most of the Australians didn’t return their tickets and I thought, ;They’ve got them stuck on the fridge or in the corner of a handbag. What will they do with them?’ "It gave me a goal to get well for."

Movie veteran ELLIOTT GOULD has designed a new line of Nike bags under his real name, Elliot Goldstein.
The M*A*S*H star has been wearing Nike products for years - and now the sportswear giants have decide to honour his commitment by giving him his very own bag line.
And the thrilled star, who turns 70 this summer (Aug08) decided to use the name he was born with for the honour.
He says, "Sometimes Nike will give some of their products to me. I don’t endorse them, there’s no business and they just asked me if I wanted to design a bag.
"The bag I designed is the Elliot Goldstein 38 - the year I was born. It’s just a shlepping bag. It’s a bag to carry my gym stuff in." But Gould admits his new bag is far from perfect: "One of the zippers broke right away. It’s a one of a kind bag just like me."

Actress MICHELLE MONAGHAN was so determined to look the part of a long-distance hauler in new film TRUCKER she insisted in learning how to drive a juggernaut.
The pretty star was an unlikely choice to play the gritty lead in the low-budget film and she told producers she’d only sign up if she passed her trucking license test.
Monaghan says, "If I wasn’t able to get my license, I wasn’t going to do the movie, because, for me, it was such an essential part of the movie. I didn’t want to fake it.
"It really takes a lot of muscle, so I worked out for a couple of weeks, doing weights for arms… It needed to look believable that I was driving a truck."

SALLY FIELD and ROSIE O’DONNELL have become the latest stars to defend MILEY CYRUS over the Vanity Fair photo controversy, calling the provocative pictures of the pop star "beautiful".
The "embarrassed" pop sensation has apologised to her fans for the scandal surrounding a series of new shots for June’s glossy, in which she appears naked.
In one of the pictures, taken by celebrated photographer Annie Leibovitz, the 15-year-old poses topless, wrapped in a satin sheet. The shot has caused outrage among family values groups across America.
In a statement released on Monday (28Apr08), Cyrus said, "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be artistic and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed." But Field and O’Donnell insist the teenager has nothing to feel embarrassed about.
Oscar winner Field says, "I love Miley Cyrus. My granddaughters are completely and utterly over the moon (with her). I watch Hannah Montana.
"I think, ‘Let it go for God’s sake’. It’s a beautiful picture." And, in a new post on her blog, actress-turned-U.S. TV personality O’Donnell adds, "I thought it was kind of a beautiful portrait… It’s Annie Leibovitz, people! Leave Miley alone!"

The scrapped sequel to classic 1970s movie THE WICKER MAN was to star JOAN COLLINS and CHRISTOPHER LEE as evil cult leaders.
Collins reveals the production, which was due to start shooting in the Scottish Highlands this month (Apr08), was to be directed by Robin Hardy, the man behind the original.
And she still hopes the film can go ahead. She tells Black Book magazine, "It’s about two young people from America who are gospel singers. They go to a remote village in the Highlands to convert people to Christianity.
"They come in contact with an evil cult led by two people. One of them is Christopher Lee, and the other one is me." Lee played the villain in the original film, which starred Edward Woodward.
The sequel was scrapped last month (Mar08) due to "financial difficulties".

Funnyman WILL FERRELL has been urged to stop working with animals after his bear co-star in basketball comedy SEMI-PRO attacked and killed a trainer in California last week (ends25Apr08).
Activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) originally sent the Elf star a letter in February (08), after they were alerted to the fact that Ferrell’s new film was to feature a grizzly bear.
The actor actually appears to wrestle the bear, Rocky, which fatally bit a trainer in Big Bear, California.
In the missive, they warned Ferrell of both the dangers of working with wild animals on a film set how many of these film ’stars’ are cruelly treated.
But the PETA letter, sent to his agents, was ignored.
Now Ferrell is the target of a new PETA campaign.
A spokesman says, "It’s pretty rare that people catch a glimpse of the way the animals they see in TV shows or movies are really treated… They’re often beaten to perform.
"We’re hoping that this incident, sad as it is, will encourage Hollywood actors to take a stand against performing with animals, who want to be movie stars about as much as they want to be stuck in a cage for the rest of their lives.
"We’re asking Will Ferrell to pledge never to act with wild animals again." In the new letter that went out to Ferrell a day after the tragedy hit the headlines last Tuesday (22Apr08), PETA writes, "We know you to be a compassionate person, and we are hoping that this deadly incident will make you have a change of heart about acting with animals in the future." PETA regular Pamela Anderson is already a fervent campaigner when it comes to keeping animals out of movies - she recently refused to take part in a dog scene that had to be cut from her last film, Superhero Movie, because she refused to act with a trained Labrador.

Departing CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION star GARY DOURDAN has been arrested in Palm Springs, California on suspicion of possessing heroin, cocaine, Ecstasy and prescription drugs.
Local police reportedly found the actor asleep in his incorrectly parked car early on Monday morning (28Apr08) and arrested him after a routine search of his vehicle.
A "disoriented" Dourdan was taken into custody in Palm Springs, where he posted bail, according to TMZ.com.
The actor has reportedly chosen to quit CSI when his current contract expires in May (08).
According to America’s TV Guide magazine, Dourdan and producers mutually agreed to part company last month (Mar08).
Insiders suggest Dourdan will exit the show "in a spectacular fashion".

A former UCLA Medical Center employee faces 10 years in prison after releasing confidential patient information to the media.
Reports suggest Lawanda Jackson received over $4,500 (GBP2,250) from a U.S.
media outlet for information about sick celebrities.
Jackson, who was an administrative specialist at the hospital from 2006 to 2007, has been indicted for allegedly selling outpatient records.
Jackson will be arraigned on 9 June (08) on one count of illegally obtaining individually identifiable health information for commercial advantage.
It is not known whose medical information Jackson reportedly gave to the media.

Latino pop superstar RICKY MARTIN has reportedly bought a Brazilian island.
The Livin’ La Vida Loca singer paid an estimated $8 million (GBP4 million) for the private island just off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
According to Mexican newspaper El Universal, Martin has had his heart set on buying the island for several months.

A TOBY KEITH concert in the Persian Gulf was interrupted by mortar fire on Thursday night (24Apr08).
The country star was performing for troops as part of a two-week United Service Organizations (USO) tour when bombs started raining down near the Kandahar Base in Afghanistan.
The singer/songwriter took shelter with soldiers near the performance site, according to CMT.com.
After the bombing, Keith took the stage again to complete his set and then signed autographs for the troops.
The latest tour of duty is Keith’s sixth USO mission.

Clumsy GWYNETH PALTROW has been left with permanent numbness in one of her legs after breaking her knee while making new movie IRON MAN.
The actress tried to act on through the pain, before discovering the injury needed surgery.
She says, "I broke my knee - because I’m a moron and I’m always bashing into things by accident. I’ve broken my toes 30 times.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I bashed my knee, it really hurt." The accident even caused a bust-up with director John Favreau, who was convinced she was exaggerating her pain: "I kept exercising and running around in the movie. Then it really started to expand. In one scene I’m running away from Ironmonger - the bad Iron Man - and I said to John, ‘My knee is really hurting, I don’t know how many times I can do this.’ He was rolling his eyes, saying ‘you’re fine’.
"But I went to the doctor and I had a fracture so bad they had to do surgery the next day. They put cement in there! So I felt very smug and he apologised.
"It still doesn’t feel right. I had a nerve problem. My legs don’t feel the same. Sometimes it happens with surgery. If I get a wax, one leg hurts more than the other."

The pair - who both attended Jay-Z’s recent wedding to Beyonce Knowles - call the tot Sensitive Thug, because of the way he terrorises his elder sister Apple.
Paltrow explains, "Apple is quite and imaginative. She will sit with her things and build houses and hotels for her dolls.
"Then my son will come in and thrash the hell out of anything she has been doing. If he can inflict pain, that’s even better.
"But he’s very sweet also. We call him our sensitive thug. It’s a line from a Jay-Z song and it suits him perfectly."
