ANDERSON HAND DELIVERS NEW PETA REPORT TO WASHINGTON POLITICIANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:08 pm

PAMELA ANDERSON will make her first trip to Washington, D.C. as an American citizen on Friday (25Apr08) when she hand delivers a report to politicians blasting the U.S. Government for failing to update animal testing procedures.
The actress/model was a Canadian when she was last in the U.S. capital and she’s determined to make a stir on Capitol Hill when she joins People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals activists to berate officials for not replacing outdated animal tests.
Anderson will make a personal appeal to her ‘new government’ to replace a profusion of outdated animal tests with modern technology that is already widely used in Europe.
The report she’ll deliver to politicians on Friday afternoon is the same PETA science report that inspired a recent front-page Washington Post article, which condemned the failure of the Department of Health and Human Services for not using "sophisticated, non-animal test methods in place of animal tests".
Anderson says, "Being a citizen excites me not just because I can vote, but because I can crack the whip on Capitol Hill to defend animals." Anderson will continue her lobbying efforts at Saturday’s (26Apr08) White House Correspondent’s Dinner, which she is attending with pal and PETA Vice President Dan Mathews.

CAREY’S BACKING TRACK FLOPS ON LIVE TV

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:02 pm

MARIAH CAREY was left squirming with embarrassment in front of thousands of fans and a live TV audience of millions on Friday morning (25Apr08), when a backing track failed during a performance.
The R&B star was giving a performance on U.S. show Good Morning America, but the music started too soon, before Carey was ready to begin her rendition of Touch My Body in New York City’s Times Square.
Carey turned away and regained her composure before joining the song and beginning her descent down a staircase onto the stage.
Her problems mounted as the track continued to skip and repeated the first few lines of the song over and over again.
But, in true superstar fashion, Carey finished the song with style and afterwards grinned, telling the crowd and TV audience, "A little creative. I try to bring something new to the moment every time." The TV appearance began a day of celebrations for the star, whose new album E=MC2 landed the top spot in the Billboard chart.
Later on Friday, Carey flicked a switch on the Empire State Building’s famous lights to illuminate them with her favourite colours lavender, pink and white.
Earlier this month (Apr08), the 38-year-old reinforced her status as the most successful female solo artist of all time, when Touch My Body became her 18th number one, taking her past Elvis Presley, and just behind the Beatles, who managed 20 hit songs.

PROSECUTORS PULL VIDEO CONFESSION IN THURMAN STALKER CASE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:02 pm

LATEST: The trial of a man accused of stalking UMA THURMAN hit a stumbling block on Thursday (24Apr08), when it was revealed a videotaped confession made by the defendant was in violation of his human rights.
In the video, Jack Jordan, 37, confesses to accusations of behaving bizarrely towards the actress and threatening to kill himself if the Kill Bill star began dating another man.
He is charged with misdemeanor stalking, aggravated harassment and felony coercion - although the critical piece of video evidence, taped after his arrest last year (Oct07), will no longer be shown to the trial’s jury.
The decision was made by Justice Gregory Carro on Friday (25Apr08), after Jordan’s attorney George Vomvolakis claimed the ‘confession’ had violated his constitutional right to counsel.
At the start of a pre-trial hearing at Manhattan’s Supreme Court on Thursday, Jordan took to the stand, claiming officers told him any confession would be taken "as a courtesy", and that if Jordan pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour, the charges would be dismissed.
Detective Edward Yzaguirre was also questioned on the stand, but denied Jordan’s claims of a plea deal, insisting "no promises were made". However, concluding the hearing on Friday (25Apr08), Justice Gregory Carro ruled the fact that Jordan had not been offered access to a lawyer meant the ‘confession’ could no longer be used for the trial.
Jordan’s defence lawyer George Vomvolakis says, "It wasn’t made clear to him that he was entitled to a lawyer at that point. They’ve conceded there was a constitutional issue - that my client’s Sixth Amendment right to counsel was violated." The trial will kick off on Monday (28Apr08), when Thurman is scheduled to appear as a witness.

The Fall Out Boy bassist complains so frequently, he has promised himself a four-week break from his whining ways - but finds the habit a hard one to break.
And the star admits he is often made to feel guilty by his constant moaning, because he leads such a privileged life.
He says, "I’ve been trying to take a month-long break from complaining, the problem is that all these things I need to complain about keep happening! "When I watch someone else in a similar position, I think, ‘Wow. Do I sound like that?’ Then I’ll think about someone with real problems and, it’s not so much guilt, but disgust with myself.
"Someone else might have to worry where their food is coming from tomorrow and I’ll be complaining about nothing. It’s very boring."

Spider hospital

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:13 pm

An Australian hospital has been forced to close after being infested with poisonous spiders.
The Baralaba Multi Purpose Health Service shut for 24 hours so officials could fumigate the small building to get rid of redback spiders that have been found in large numbers. Redback spiders, common throughout most of the country, have a painful bite and a toxic venom, although an anti-venom is available. A hospital statement said: "We believe the best way to deal with them, and the safest option for staff and patients, is to have the whole building fumigated so both the spiders and their eggs are killed."
