LaBEOUF ESCAPES SMOKING CHARGES
LATEST: SHIA LaBEOUF will no longer face prosecution over a charge of unlawful smoking - Los Angeles authorities dropped the misdemeanour count on Thursday (24Apr08).
The Transformers star was cited for lighting up in a non-smoking shopping area in February (08).
A warrant for his arrest was issued when he failed to turn up to a hearing in Burbank, California relating to the charge, but the $1,000 (£500) bench warrant was later revoked, after his attorney entered a not guilty plea on the 21-year-old’s behalf.
But the charges were dropped on Thursday morning, shortly before LaBeouf was due in court for a pre-trial hearing.
However, LaBeouf has been hit with a $500 (£250) fine for the offence, according to TMZ.com.
