LATEST: Incarcerated British rocker PETE DOHERTY has appealed to a die-hard fan to help clear him of allegations he has taken drugs in jail - after promising he was "clean" in a letter to the devotee.
Last week (begs14Apr08), British newspaper The Sun published photos of Doherty inside London’s Wormwood Scrubs jail, claiming the star has continued using hard drugs while behind bars.
But in his reply to one fan’s mail, Doherty writes, "All the best from The Scrubs. Tell ‘em I’m clean, countin’ the days until the next freedom gig! Yours, Pete D." The Babyshambles singer was jailed for 14 weeks earlier this month (Apr08) for "breach of time-keeping, non-compliance of his (probation) order and using different drugs".
