Actress SALMA HAYEK is to be honoured at the Crystal + Lucy Awards in the U.S.
for raising the profile of women in entertainment.
The Crystal + Lucy Awards will acknowledge the 41-year-old’s successful career not only as an actress, but also as a producer and director in the film and TV industries.
The Ugly Betty producer will also be sharing the spotlight with other honorees, including Ginnifer Goodwin, Sherry Lansing, Diane English, and the cast of the 2008 film The Women.
The event, established in 1994 in honour of comedienne Lucille Ball, will be held on 17 June (08) at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, reports PeopleEnEspanol.com.

ELIZABETH HURLEY has sparked rumours she’s pregnant with her second child after trying to cover up "a little bump" at a Breast Cancer Research Foundation event in New York last week (08Apr08).
Fellow Hottest Pink Party Ever guest Elton John, who gave the actress away at her wedding to Indian businessman Arun Nayar last year (07), was also overheard congratulating Hurley’s man.
A source tells In Touch magazine, "Elton kissed and hugged Elizabeth and congratulated Arun.
"They seemed to be giggling over their little secret." Hurley wore a tummy-covering sari to the event, abstained from alcohol and "carried her clutch (bag) in front of her belly." The insider reports, "But you could still see a little bump." The 42-year-old Austin Powers star, who has a six-year-old son by producer Steve Bing, is refusing to confirm reports she is with child and Hurley’s representatives had not returned WENN’s calls by our deadline.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE has signed with leading sports and entertainment company IMG as he attempts to develop an eco-friendly golf course in his native Memphis, Tennessee.
IMG bosses will represent all the pop star’s golf-related projects.
The singer is also developing his own charity golf tournament to aid America’s Shriners Children’s Hospitals.

SIR ELTON JOHN’s fundraising event for HILLARY CLINTON has been questioned by an American government watchdog, because the singer is not a U.S. citizen.
A New York concert the rocker staged last week (9Apr08) raised $2.5 million (£1.25 million) for the Democrat senator’s presidential campaign.
He also used the Radio City Music Hall stage to pledge his support for the former first lady.
But Judicial Watch claims the fundraiser broke a law prohibiting the raising of funds for election campaigns by foreign nations - because John is British.
A statement from the group reads, "Sir Elton John is not a citizen of the United States and is therefore prohibited from making any contribution to Senator Clinton’s presidential campaign." However, Clinton has hit back - explaining a loophole allowed the star to offer his support.
Her spokesperson tells the New York Times, "Hillary’s campaign has complied with the law. Since 1987… foreign nationals may volunteer their time for campaigns on an uncompensated basis. Elton John is simply volunteering his uncompensated time to appear at the concert. This appearance is consistent with past rulings".

HEROES star MILO VENTIMIGLIA has been turned into a comic book star.
The actor’s likeness will feature in Devil’s Due Publishing’s mini-series Rest, which is set to hit shelves at the end of 2008.
Ventimiglia’s image will be used for the comic’s leading character.
Rest will be written by Mike O’Sullivan and edited by X-Men comic book editor Mark Powers.

MADONNA’s directorial debut has landed a distributor in North America and will hit cinemas in August (08).
The comedic drama, Filth & Wisdom, was co-written and co-produced by the ever-busy pop superstar, and it debuted at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany (Feb08) to mixed reviews.
Madonna initially considered releasing the film as a download via the iTunes website, but has now signed a deal with IFC Entertainment to land the project a U.S. cinema release.
The low-budget movie, about a Ukranian immigrant in London, stars rocker Eugene Hutz, his band Gogol Bordello and Richard E. Grant.

SUPER SIZE ME filmmaker and star MORGAN SPURLOCK has come clean about his movie hunt to find OSAMA BIN LADEN - on the day of his latest project WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN’s release.
Spurlock has refused to comment on speculation he actually found the world’s most wanted terrorist during the making of the film, but now reveals he came close but didn’t get the Al Qaeda leader on film.
And he admits his bid to get up close and personal with Bin Laden changed just after he started making the film in 2005 - after he discovered he was going to be a father.
Speaking on U.S. news channel MSNBC on Friday (18Apr08), Spurlock said, "We started trying to figure out, `How do we put a movie like this together? How do we even go about going to Afghanistan and Pakistan?’ and about two months into that process I found out my wife, Alex, was going to have a baby.
"So the shift of the movie really went from, `Where’s Osama and why haven’t we found him to what kind of world am I about to bring a kid into?’" But Spurlock admits he did get closer than most to Bin Laden as he was embedded with U.S. troops on the hunt for the terrorist in Afghanistan.
He adds, "I think we got close. By the end of the film I think we got to within 50 or 75 miles, where a lot of people thought he was. We didn’t find him but we found a lot of other great information."

Actress BRITTANY SNOW has thanked her pal SOPHIA BUSH for helping her recover from a nine-year battle with anorexia.
The Prom Night star insists she wouldn’t have overcome the illness in 2005 without the support of Bush, who, at the time, had split from her husband - One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray.
She says, "Sophia gives really, really good advice. I was going through a difficult time, and she was going through a difficult time figuring out the whole Chad thing.
"We had so many slumber parties where she held my hand (as we worked) through a lot of different things. When somebody can be there through something like that, they’re a friend forever." And the star admits she only made the decision to reveal details of her eating disorder when two of her friends died from a similar illness.
She adds, "I was devastated. I have so many girlfriends who are not even in Hollywood who struggle with eating disorders - Sophia and Amanda (Bynes) are the only two people I know who are happy with their bodies.
"Thank God I went through all of that so early, in middle and high school, to realise it’s not about being popular or cool - it’s about being who you are."

LATEST: Father-to-be KYLE McLACHLAN’s wife DESIREE GRUBER is expecting a baby boy.
The Desperate Housewives actor, 49, will become a first-time father when wife Gruber gives birth to the couple’s child this summer (08).
And McLachlan broke the news of the baby’s sex during a stint as guest host of U.S. morning TV show Live With Regis & Kelly on Friday (18Apr08).
He said, "It’s a boy. I’ve got the golf clubs out already, so we’re going to make him into a little golfer." The couple is now on the hunt for a name for their upcoming arrival, though MacLachlan jokes wife Gruber has turned down his first choices.
He laughs, "We’re trying to go through the name thing now. She shot down my first idea: Jethro. She didn’t like that idea." MacLachan adds of his second choice, "Being from Scotland, he could be like, Macintosh MacLachlan".
Either way, the actor does have one strict stipulation: "You want a nickname that’s going to be cool."

Rapper/actor METHOD MAN is set to return to TV screens with his third guest appearance on hit U.S. show CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION.
According to website CTV.ca, the hip-hop star will be reprising his role as Drops, a Las Vegas event promoter who repeatedly gets caught up in the forensic scientists’ investigations.
His character first appeared on the crime drama in 2006 and again a year later (07).
The new episode, entitled Drop’s Out, is set to air in the U.S. on 24 April (08).

Movie veteran GENE HACKMAN has quit acting for good, insisting he is too old to land appealing roles.
The 78-year-old actor hasn’t starred in a film since 2004 comedy Welcome to Mooseport, and although he has never announced his retirement - he couldn’t bring himself to return to Hollywood and play "grandfathers".
Hackman says, "I guess you could call it retired. I haven’t worked for four years now. And I don’t miss the business. I miss the process of being on-set with actors when things get cooking. But there’s so much crapola (crap) in order to get there. It’s just too painful.
"At my age, they would have me playing grandfathers and great grandfathers.
That’s not a heck of a lot of fun. I’d rather go back to the theatre, actually.
But that’s not going to happen. I’m pretty satisfied with my life right now." Instead, Hackman keeps himself busy and his mind active, writing historical fiction novels with his neighbour Daniel Lenihan.
He adds, "I write every day for at least a couple of hours. I exercise a little bit. And then it’s time for the old folks to go to bed."

Danish rockers PITCHBLACK have parted ways with their guitarist TROLD.
The musician has decided to leave the band to spend time with his family and Pitchblack have already started auditioning for his replacement, reports Blabbermouth.net.
In a statement, the remaining members of the band say, "He wanted to spend more time with his child and girlfriend. Pitchblack fully respect that and has already begun sessions with a new guitarist. We want to make it clear that we continue with 666 miles per hour!!!" And Trold insists the split was amicable: "Unfortunately, I don’t like playing anymore live and I want to spend more time with my family. That is why I leave (sic) Pitchblack. It has been a hard decision and something I have thought about for quite a while. It’s a ‘happy divorce’ and I wish all the best for my friends in Pitchblack."

LATEST: France’s Eurovision Song Contest entrant SEBASTIEN TELLIER has promised to add French lyrics to his song - after his exclusively English entry sparked controversy in his homeland.
The singer’s Divine track angered politicians in France ahead of this year’s (08) competition, in which musicians from countries across Europe compete every year.
But, according to local reports, Tellier has now bowed to pressure to change the lyrics.
He says, "The baguette won’t taste any worse tomorrow morning if I sing in English. I’m not going to fight it. I just want to please people." And he adds he was never asked by television station France-3, which nominated the entry, to submit a French language song.
He adds, "If I had been asked to do a song expressly for Eurovision, I clearly would have done something in French.
"If it makes everyone happy, of course I’ll make an effort (to sing in French). I’m not dense (stupid)."

The bass player of Australian rockers THE RED SHORE has been charged over a car crash which killed the group’s lead singer and a roadie.
Jamie Hope is accused of negligent driving causing death and grievous bodily harm.
Hope was driving the band’s tour van when it veered off a road and plunged down an embankment before crashing into a tree, killing Damien Morris, 27, and roadie Andy Milner, 22. Morris died at the scene, while Milner passed away later on in hospital.
On Thursday (17Apr08), Hope was charged with two counts of negligent driving causing death and three counts of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm. Negligent driving causing death carries a maximum penalty of 18 months’ jail and/or a AUS$3,300 ($3,066; £1,533) fine in New South Wales. He will appear in court on 4 August (08).
The charges come just ahead of the band’s first national tour since the tragedy.
A note on the band’s MySpace page reads, "Words cannot express our pain and frustration over these events, but the support we have received from everyone has been absolutely amazing. We would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts."

LATEST: Rock legends VAN HALEN made a triumphant return to the stage in Nevada on Thursday (17Apr08), more than five weeks after postponing their reunion tour due to frontman EDDIE VAN HALEN’s ill health.
The group was forced to put their roadshow on hold in March (08), to allow the 53-year-old guitarist time to "continue medical tests to define a course of treatment".
The precise reason for his brief medical hiatus has not been disclosed, but the former alcoholic and cancer survivor joined his bandmates on stage in Reno on Thursday night, two days before they were expected to return to the road.
Singer David Lee Roth was ecstatic at the comeback, proclaiming: "Better late than never!" And Van Halen proved he was back to full health by jumping up and down and running around the stage throughout the whole show, reports People.com.
As a result of Van Halen’s medical problems, 17 of the group’s dates were postponed, although 20 new dates have also been added. The tour will continue on Saturday (19Apr08) night with a show in Las Vegas.

R&B star ASHANTI has laughed off reports the music video for her new single WAY THAT I LOVE YOU serves as a warning to her rumoured boyfriend NELLY.
In the new promo, the singer is seen wielding a knife and seeking revenge on a cheating ex-lover.
But Ashanti - who has long been linked to the Hot In Herre hunk, but never confirmed the romance - insists the track isn’t aimed at Nelly.
She tells People.com, "It’s not! I wrote that record last summer… The song is just about real life. It’s for every woman who has gone through it.
"It’s a rude awakening when you get used to being happy, but it’s a part of life. I didn’t kill the person!" However, she does confess to doing some investigating of her own on a previous partner she suspected of infidelity: "Of course I’ve snooped! Before (Sidekick pagers) came out, I was snooping through regular cell phones, everything! Whatever he had out, I was all in it!" And she is still remaining coy over her rumoured relationship with Nelly, saying of the hip-hop star: "We’re really, really good friends."
