AVERY ADDS MISSING PIECE TO ORIGINAL JANE’S ADDICTION REUNION
LATEST: ERIC AVERY will rejoin JANE’S ADDICTION for their reunion at the upcoming NME Awards in Los Angeles.
Warring bandmates Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro agreed to bring the group together for a fourth reformation at the awards on 23 April (08), where the band will receive the Godlike Genius Award and play three songs.
But Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins refused to confirm they’d be taking part. Perkins has since agreed to play with his old bandmates and now Avery has signed up.
The appearance will mark the first time the original members of the group have played together since 1991.
Avery was replaced by Red Hot Chili Peppers star Flea when the band first reunited in 1997.
In a statement from Avery, the bass player explains, "I’ve chosen to reject the prospects of reuniting in the past for personal and philosophical reasons.
"I have always considered reunions to be a way to make a quick buck, and it sells short my own experience of it the first time around.
"The reason I started to even consider this is because it’s honouring the past instead of trying to recreate it."
