WINEHOUSE AXED FROM U.S. GIG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:14 pm

British singer AMY WINEHOUSE has suffered a major blow in her bid to conquer America after the organisers of a U.S. charity event axed her performance.
The troubled 24-year-old was due to sing at a New York gala next month (May08) and had even been granted a business visa to travel to the U.S. unlike in February (08) when she couldn’t pick up her five Grammy Awards in Los Angeles because the document wasn’t granted until the last minute.
But now Winehouse has been dropped from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala on 5 May (08).
A source close to the singer tells British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, "She has been told that she is no longer part of the programme.
"It will be a huge blow for her as it would have been a great platform to break America. They love her music over there but she has yet to do a tour." A spokesperson for the event confirmed, "She was asked if she would be interested, and she was considered, but then we moved on from her."
