SHATNER HOPES STAR TREK MOVIE BOOSTS BOOK SALES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:14 pm

WILLIAM SHATNER is angry STAR TREK bosses failed to offer him a guest spot in the new movie - but he hopes the film is a success and boosts sales of his sci-fi novels.
Shatner expected a call from director J.J. Abrams to reprise his role ahead of his forthcoming movie, despite the fact his character Captain Kirk died in 1994 film Star Trek: Generations.
But the actor was overlooked and never received the call back.
He says, "Everybody knows more about it than I. I don’t even know whether they finished shooting or not. I’ve actually had nothing to do with it. It’s a shame, and I would have liked to have been a part of it, but the people doing it, for some reason or other, thought otherwise, and so I’m not." However, Shatner insists he is still rooting for the film to succeed and breathe life into the sci-fi franchise - to help his side career as an author.
He claims his last novel - Collision Course (Star Trek: Academy) - was a flop, and he is counting on new fans to keep him writing.
Shatner tells AOL movies, "The publishing company was very negligent on this last novel. I think they may have given up on it, so I would think that would be the last novel from me. Whether J.J. Abrams is capable of reigniting the franchise remains to be seen, and if he does, then perchance it won’t be the last."
