NEWTON-JOHN HELPED MINOGUE THROUGH CANCER
Breast cancer survivor OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN offered her Australian compatriot KYLIE MINOGUE a shoulder to cry on after she was diagnosed with the deadly disease.
The Grease star - who won her battle with breast cancer in 1992 - urged Minogue to come to her with any worries after the Spinning Around hitmaker was told by doctors she had the disease in 2005.
And the pop princess’ sister Dannii is paying Newton-John back for her support by joining her on a 21-day walk of The Great Wall of China to raise funds for her Cancer Treatment And Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Newton-John says, "After Kylie was diagnosed, we did talk a few times and I told her, ‘I’ve been there and I’ve made it, and if you ever want to ask me anything, you can.’ "She seemed to have a really good support group and attitude, which makes a huge difference. I remember being in a restaurant in Australia after being diagnosed, and a woman came up to me and said, ‘I had cancer 20 years ago and I’m fine.’ "That was a huge thing and gave me a really positive message - so if I can do that for someone else, then I’m delighted.
"After all I’ve been through, I’m just so grateful to be here." During the 142-mile (228-kilometre) trek - which she is due to finish on 29 April (08) - she will also be joined by a host of celebrities including Sir Cliff Richard and Joan Rivers.
