RADIOHEAD LAUNCH REMIX WEBSITE FOR FANS
British rockers RADIOHEAD have launched a groundbreaking new website, giving fans the chance to remix their new single NUDE.
Radioheadremix.com lets fans buy parts of the track, known as ’stems’, from music download site iTunes and mix the single in any formation they like.
The tracks will then be posted on the website and entered into a competition for other fans to judge, with their favourite being crowned the winner on 1 May (08).
Wannabe DJs can choose several different ’stems’ to remix, including bass, guitar, strings, and drums, and they can even add their own instrumentation.
Stephen Hollowes, from the band’s label XL, says, "We always start from the position of wanting to enable the artists we work with to realise any endeavour they want to - Radiohead liked the idea of giving everyone the chance to remix Nude.
"As with all good ideas it started as a half-baked notion and ended up somewhere we’re really proud of. We can’t wait to hear the mixes that are submitted. The Holy F**k mix up there already is stunning." The rockers’ single Nude was released in the U.K. on Monday (31Mar08), and the site was launched on Tuesday (01Apr08).
