CORONER RULES OUT MURDER IN DIANA INQUEST

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:32 pm

The coroner presiding over the inquest into the death of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES has told a London court there is "no evidence" to suggest she was murdered.
The British royal and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed were killed in a Paris, France car crash in 1997.
Fayed’s father, business mogul Mohamed Al Fayed, is convinced the couple was murdered, and, during his testimony at the High Court in February (08), maintained his belief that they were assassinated by British security services acting on the orders of Prince Philip, the husband of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II.
The inquest aims to establish whether Diana and Dodi were the victims of an accident, or if they were the targets of an assassination plot headed by the British royal family - as claimed by Al Fayed.
However, summing up the inquest for the jury on Monday (31Mar08), Lord Justice Scott Baker dismissed Al Fayed’s claims saying: "Various propositions… have been shown to be so demonstrably without foundation that they are no longer being pursued by Mohamed Al Fayed’s lawyer, even if he still continues to believe in their truth in his own mind.
"They are not being pursued because there is not a shred of evidence to support them… There is no evidence that the Duke Of Edinburgh (Prince Philip) ordered Diana’s execution, and there is no evidence that the secret intelligence service or any other government agency organised it." Lord Baker also criticised the testimony of Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell, who was recently caught on videotape confessing to holding back information from the inquest.
The coroner admitted it was regrettable that there had been some witnesses "who it appears have told lies in the witness box or elsewhere", and named Burrell as one of those who were "liars by their own admission".
Lord Baker then gave the jury five verdict options. They included: unlawful killing by grossly negligent driving of the paparazzi in the following vehicles; unlawful killing through the gross negligence of the driver Henri Paul; and unlawful killing by the grossly negligent driving of both the following vehicles and Paul.
The members of the jury were also given the choices of accidental death or an open verdict if they feel there is insufficient evidence to reach a majority conclusion.
They are likely to be sent out to consider their verdict later this week (begs31Mar08).

UNION FILES SUIT AGAINST BOGUS ADVERTISERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:32 pm

Actress GABRIELLE UNION is suing two men for invasion of privacy, after they posted a fake job advertisement looking for an assistant for the star.
The two defendants, from Georgia, are alleged to have advertised the job of executive assistant on listings website Craigslist.com, claiming they were acting on Union’s behalf.
But the Bad Boys 2 beauty claims she doesn’t know the defendants, Calvin High and Steve Raymond, and was unaware of their actions.
In legal papers obtained by website TMZ.com, the lawsuit claims High and Raymond subjected Union to "embarrassment and humiliation" by putting out the advert for a vacancy that doesn’t exist.
The suit, which was filed in a Georgia district court on Friday (28Mar08), also names ‘John Does 1-10′ alongside High and Raymond, because Union’s lawyers Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, LLC, claim the acts were committed "in conjunction with and/or with the help of several other individuals who are unknown… at this time".
They go on to state: "At least one individual responded to the advertisement for the position… and subsequently contacted Ms. Union directly inquiring about the advertisement." Union claims to have suffered "severe emotional distress" as a result of the bogus advert, and is seeking damages for the hoax.

SIMONON: ‘PAINTING SAVED ME FROM INSANITY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Former THE CLASH star PAUL SIMONON is thankful he decided to swap music for a career as a painter, because it "kept him sane" after the break-up of the legendary band.
The Rock The Casbah hitmakers disbanded in 1986 and Simonon used his art to express his feelings about the split, eventually turning to painting as a full-time profession.
And the bassist, who recently reemerged in The Good, The Bad & The Queen, insists he has no regrets about abandoning his music career, because he needed a break from the public hysteria he experienced during the band’s heyday.
Simonon says, "I can dip in and out of music when I feel like it, but it’s not my life any more. There was a point just after the intensity of The Clash finally subsided when I just found that painting grounded me in a way that music never did.
"That’s what pulled me though the so-called wilderness years. I never wanted to go back and relive the glory days. It was tough after all those years of the constant Clash agenda. That’s what really sent me back to painting. It was the only thing that kept me sane."

"I don’t have a contract with anyone." Nando now plans to launch a solo career.

SLASH PRAISES WINEHOUSE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

Former GUNS ‘N’ ROSES star SLASH has lavished praise on troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE, insisting she is "carrying the torch for rock ‘n’ roll".
The legendary guitarist, famed for his wild antics, is a massive fan of Winehouse, but fears the Back To Black hitmaker is on the verge of self-destruction.
Winehouse, who won five Grammy Awards earlier this year (08), was admitted to rehab in London in January (08) after a British newspaper published footage of her allegedly taking hard drugs.
But Slash hopes she will be able to recover from her personal problems and build on her huge international success.
He says, "Amy’s cool. She’s carrying the torch for rock ‘n’ roll. I think she’s great, not so much because of her personal choices, but because she’s a great singer with a unique sound and style. And she doesn’t take any s**t.
"She’s on the verge of greatness, but it would be regrettable if her talent was overshadowed by her extra-curricular activities. She’s at a crossroads. I hope she makes the right decision."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:27 pm

GNARLS BARKLEY have cancelled a sold-out show in London and scrapped all of their U.K. promotional duties because of a serious "family illness".

A statement from the band reads: "Cee-Lo Green decided at short notice to remain in the States alongside his wife and children, and is thus now unable to travel to the U.K. as scheduled."

NELLY EYES SPRINGSTEEN COLLABORATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

Rapper NELLY is set to collaborate with legendary rocker BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN on his forthcoming album.
The Hot In Herre hitmaker has approached The Boss about making a record together - and the veteran singer is more than happy to oblige.
Scheduling difficulties made it impossible to get the song recorded in time for Nelly’s latest LP Brass Knuckles - which will be released in July (08) but the hip-hop star is determined to make the collaboration happen later this year (08), and possibly feature the track on a special edition of the album.
He says, "We still might get a chance to get it off. We’re saving it. We might repackage it for the holidays." Nelly’s new record already features collaborations with artists including Fergie, Akon, Snoop Dogg and LL Cool J.

STRUMMER’S LAST PLEA TO SIMONON

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 pm

Late rocker JOE STRUMMER sent a mobile phone text message to his former bandmate PAUL SIMONON urging him to consider a CLASH reunion, just hours before he died of a heart attack.
The singer passed away at the age of 50 at his home in Somerset, England in 2002.
At the time of his death, Strummer had been working to get The Clash, who split in 1986, back together for a reunion show to coincide with their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
And Simonon has now revealed the last time he heard from his close friend, he was still trying to convince him to rejoin the band on stage.
Simonon says, "It (the text message) said, ‘Come on Paul. Give it a try.’ Joe was up for it. So was Mick (Jones, guitarist) and Topper (Headon, drummer), but I wasn’t. I was the one who always said no.
"In this instance, I really didn’t believe it was the right moment. A big corporate event like that, £2,000 ($4,000) a seat. Nah, that wasn’t in the spirit of The Clash, was it?"

ROWLAND LOVES SUV TOO MUCH TO GO GREEN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:48 pm

R&B star KELLY ROWLAND has no plans to trade in her gas guzzling sports utility vehicle (SUV) for a more environmentally friendly car - because ‘green’ cars don’t "look fun".
The Like This singer admits she is frequently made to feel guilty about her Range Rover’s lack of green credentials, but she blames her Texan roots for instilling in her a love of big cars.
And she is adamant she will never give up her "baby" - at least until Range Rover engineers develop a stylish hybrid she can be proud of.
She says, "I prefer a big truck like a Range Rover. I drive one when I’m at home. I’m totally a Texas girl at heart. Put me in a cowboy hat behind the wheel of a massive truck and I’m happy.
"Driving a truck has been my dream since I was a little girl. My car’s like a baby, it means everything to me. I think about her every day.
"My sister’s hugely into environmental stuff, and she gives me a lot of heartache about it. She’s got a Lexus Hybrid car but that thing doesn’t look fun. When Range Rover makes a hybrid I’ll go green. Until then, my apologies to Planet Earth."

DIAZ ENJOYING THE SINGLE LIFE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

Actress CAMERON DIAZ is happy living the single life - because it’s the first time in a decade she hasn’t had a boyfriend.
The Charlie’s Angels beauty, 35, split from longtime love Justin Timberlake last January (07) and has since denied being romantically linked to surfer pal Kelly Slater and rocker John Mayer.
And while she admits she loves the constant male attention, she is simply enjoying life as a singleton.
She tells April’s (08) edition of Britain’s GQ magazine, "I like boys - a lot. I’m boy crazy. That hasn’t changed since I was very young…
"When I’m in a relationship I’m very loyal and committed. I give a lot.
"But it’s been nice not having a boyfriend for the past year. In fact, it’s the first time I haven’t had one in 10 years and I’m enjoying what I’m getting out of this moment. I could be in a relationship if I wanted to be, but I haven’t finished doing what I’m doing."

KLUM DELIGHTED BY SEXIEST MODEL TITLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

HEIDI KLUM is amazed to have landed the coveted title of the world’s hottest model, because she is a mother to three children.
The German catwalk star last month (Feb08) beat Brazilian babe Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima to land at number one on the Models.com list.
Klum has a three-year-old daughter, Helene, with ex-boyfriend and Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore, and two sons, Henry and Johan, with her husband Seal.
And the 35-year-old is convinced landing the title is a major step forward. She says, "It felt great, especially after having three children. It’s brilliant for all mums because women sometimes worry whether they can still be sexy after having kids or how they’re going to be perceived by people for being a mum. I had employers who thought if I had a child I wouldn’t fit in the sexiest women category any more. But I think it’s different these days."

HEIGL: ‘I’M NOT THE NEXT JULIA ROBERTS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

Actress KATHERINE HEIGL has hit back at critics who have hailed her as the next JULIA ROBERTS, insisting the comparison is "insulting" to the PRETTY WOMAN star.
Heigl found fame starring in TV medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, but has since found Hollywood success in movies like 2007’s Knocked Up.
Her film outings have been well-received and critics have been quick to compare her to Roberts, who also starred in a number of romantic comedies throughout her career.
But 29-year-old Heigl insists she is not out to copy anyone else’s acting style.
She says, "I can’t help but feel that’s (the comparison) is a little insulting to Julia Roberts. There’s not another woman who I look at and think, ‘That’s it, that’s whose career I want to have.’ "I’m just me and trying to do the best I can in every decision in any given moment."

SPACEY’S TROUBLED CHILDHOOD PREPARED HIM FOR FAME

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Hollywood actor KEVIN SPACEY credits his troubled childhood with preparing him for life as a movie star - because his family never had a permanent home.
The 48-year-old was born in New Jersey, but was forced to move house on a regular basis as his father was often out of work.
The family eventually settled in California in the mid-1960s.
But the American Beauty star insists the constant travelling, while frustrating at the time, was actually good practice for him - because as soon as he shot to fame, he spent much of his time living in hotels.
He says, "I think there is a nomadic quality to the life (as an actor). And the way I was raised… Well my family moved a lot., because my father lost jobs regularly, so we couldn’t pay the rent.
"In some cases we moved houses within blocks of each other. I think there was something about that sense of being uprooted…"

LULU VOWS ‘NO MORE BOTOX’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

Scottish singer LULU has stopped using wrinkle-smoothing Botox because the injections made her face "unmovable".
The Shout star has, in the past, put her youthful looks down to the $600 (£300)-a-time treatments but insists she has now swapped cosmetic surgery for a more healthy lifestyle.
The 59-year-old now follows a strict diet and exercise regime, which she credits for restoring her appearance.
She says, "I used to have Botox and at first I thought it was fantastic. But it quickly fades. Too much of your face is unmovable and it doesn’t actually help you look young, so I stopped." But Lulu refuses to rule out other forms of cosmetic enhancement: "I would consider surgery in the future, but, as with everything, it’s a case of going to the best person and having it done in moderation."

SLASH SLAMS MODERN GUITAR PLAYERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:38 pm

Former GUNS N’ ROSES star SLASH has slammed the new generation of guitar players, insisting he is the last of the "identifiable" icons of rock ‘n’ roll.
The legendary rocker is convinced having a decent guitar player who stands out is one of the main necessities for any band.
But the 42-year-old is saddened by modern music as he feels new bands focus too much on the frontman and don’t concentrate on finding good guitarists.
He says, "It’s sad. There’s no identifiable guitar players in rock ‘n’ roll any more. With the exception of (White Stripes star) Jack White - who is great - the new breed of bands aren’t bringing out decent guitarists.
"Rock ‘n’ roll is so diluted in this millennium, you just don’t hear good solos. And I hate emo (mainstream soft-core punk)."
