LAWYER: ‘REMY MA VERDICT IS A WARNING TO RAP COMMUNITY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 3:09 am

LATEST: The victorious attorney in rapper REMY MA’s shooting trial has called the guilty verdict a warning shot to the hip-hop industry.
Remy Ma faces up to 25 years in jail after she was found guilty of shooting of a woman outside a New York nightclub last year (07).
She claimed the gun went off by accident during a scuffle, injuring Makeda Barnes-Joseph.
But, on Thursday (27Mar08), a New York Superior Court jury found the rapper real name Remy Smith - guilty of two counts of first degree assault, attempted coercion and criminal possession of a weapon.
And now the victim’s attorney, Lauren P. Raysor, is speaking out about the verdict that could result in a lengthy jail term for Remy Ma.
She says, "Today justice has been served. This process has been draining upon my client.
"From the beginning, the defence has tried to portray Ms. Ma as the victim.
The jury saw through it and has sent a message to those in the recording industry who do not feel they should abide by the same rules as the rest of us.
"It is time to put an end to this senseless cycle of violence that is glorified by hip-hop marketing."
