MADONNA RULES OUT PERFORMING HER OLD CLASSICS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

MADONNA is so sick of singing her ’80s classics HOLIDAY and LIKE A VIRGIN, it would take a rich Russian "with $30 million" to tempt her to perform the songs again.
The 49-year-old singer is rumoured to be heading out on tour this year (08) to promote her new album Hard Candy, which hits stores on 29 April (08).
And Madonna is already warning fans she won’t be revisiting her old classics.
In an interview with New York radio station Z-100 FM, due to air on Friday (28Mar08), the Material Girl says, "I’m not sure I can sing Holiday or Like A Virgin ever again.
"I just can’t - unless somebody paid me like $30 million or something. (Like if) some Russian guy wants me to come to the wedding he’s going to have to a 17-year-old."

SEGEL HAS SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT PENIS SHOTS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER star JASON SEGEL fears he has ruined his dating life after revealing all in his new movie FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.
The single Knocked Up star shows off his genitals in the film and now fears any future girlfriend will use the movie for research before agreeing to romance him.
He says, "I thought it would be fun. I thought I’d walk out naked and they’d yell, ‘Action,’ but no, it’s not like that at all. You show up and realise you’re about to be naked in front of 300 people.
"I also had a realisation right before I walked out that did not help…
there aren’t too many women out there who just love a small penis. That’s all I kept thinking.
"The (censors) MPAA made a specific rule that as long as it’s flaccid, it’s still an ‘R’ rating, but you don’t want to be too flaccid! "At one point there were seven penis shots and now we’ve got it down to four.
There was one shot that really disturbed me. One of the shots they framed was just half my penis and it looked really, really weird. People fainted and cried.
"I’m interested to see how it affects my life. It’s weird when my family sees it. I saw it with my mother at the first test screening which was horribly embarrassing.
"I don’t know how it’s gonna affect my dating life. It’ll be like, ‘You’ve already seen me naked!’"

HAZZARD FANS TOLD TO ACT NOW FOR 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

Actor JOHN SCHNEIDER’s publicist has launched a campaign to bring beloved TV series THE DUKES OF HAZZARD back for its 30th anniversary.
Michael Barnard claims ABC Family Channel bosses in America, who now own the rights to the TV series, which starred Schneider and Tom Wopat, have no plans to air the show in the near future, and he fears that means next year’s (09) anniversary will be a muted affair.
Barnard is calling on fans of the show to write letters to Tom Zappala, the senior vice-president of programme acquisitions & scheduling at the ABC Family Channel, asking him to intervene and make sure the programme is aired in America throughout 2009.
In a letter sent to fans, he writes, "If you and your family and friends appreciate The Dukes Of Hazzard television series, it’s urgent that you take action now." He claims ABC "gave up" on the show shortly after buying it from fellow cable network CMT, adding, "The channel does not plan to ever air the show! This is the 30th anniversary of the show, and ABC Family Channel thinks nobody cares about it anymore." The cult TV series ran in America from 1979 to 1985 and became a hit again in 2006 and 2007 when CMT bosses aired episodes.
An annual DukesFest convention in America is attended by thousands of fans and stars of the show. This year’s event takes place at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Georgia in June (08).

SPACEY’S NEW FILM TURNS CASTMATES INTO GAMBLERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

KEVIN SPACEY fears his latest movie has turned co-star JOSH GAD into a gambling addict.
Spacey plays mentor to a group of card-counting mathematics whizz-kids who win millions at the tables of Las Vegas’ top casinos in new film 21.
And he fears that some of his castmates got to engrossed in Sin City’s gambling lifestyle.
Spacey explains, "I think we might’ve made a few compulsive gamblers. I think Josh Gad needs an intervention at this point because he’s a mad man.
"I do think he now has a serious gambling habit. If we started a gamblers anonymous for movie stars, Josh Gad would be the only member.
"I didn’t gamble much while I was there, but we were there for a month or so and I know some of the crew did get into some trouble and some of the actors couldn’t resist going out and trying to see if they could actually count the decks. I don’t think they did too well."

C. THOMAS HOWELL & BROLIN TO PLAY BUSH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:42 pm

A day after the cast was set for OLIVER STONE’s upcoming political biopic of U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH, C. THOMAS HOWELL has signed up to play the American leader in a comedy.
While No Country For Old Men star Josh Brolin will play Bush in Stone’s drama W., Soul Man actor Howell will portray the President in new political satire Commander-And-Chief.
Directed by Gerson Sanginitto, the comedy can only loosely suggest Howell is Bush, because of the content of the film, but a movie spokesperson says, "There’s no mistaking who he is supposed to be." The insider adds, "This hysterical political satire is guaranteed to make audiences both laugh and think." Meanwhile, Babe star James Cromwell, Elizabeth Banks and Ellen Burstyn have been added to the cast of Stone’s Bush biopic.
Cromwell and Burstyn will play the current President’s parents George Herbert Walker Bush and Barbara Bush respectively, while Banks will portray First Lady Laura Bush.

CHAMBERS: ‘I SUFFER FROM BIOLOGICAL SLEEP DISORDER’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

GREY’S ANATOMY star JUSTIN CHAMBERS has spoken out for the first time about his battle with exhaustion, describing his condition as "a biological sleep disorder".
The 37-year-old actor checked himself into Los Angeles’ UCLA Medical Center in January (08) for treatment after a period of getting only one hour of sleep each week.
Chambers tells American magazine People, "I suffer from a biological sleep disorder. Your body is tired but your mind keeps racing. You lie down and then you get up and pace, and then you lie down but you can’t fall asleep.
"It’s like a dog chasing its tail. You get to your wits’ end. I went a good two months without really sleeping.
"So a specialist I had been working with referred me to UCLA. They gave me (medication) in a private room with a connection to the outside, and I slept.
Two days there was perfect." But the low-key father-of-five found himself splashed all over the tabloids when pop superstar Britney Spears was admitted to the same hospital days later in a media frenzy.
He adds, "It would have been private had Britney Spears’ spotlight not spread on me. It’s enough to handle with my family. I don’t need people speculating about issues I’m dealing with." Following his hospital stay, Chambers is now getting a lot more sleep: "I get six or seven hours of sleep a night. I’m not someone who requires a lot of sleep."

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS PLAN LIVE TRIBUTE FOR DEAD BANDMATE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

Indie rockers HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS have written a tribute to tragic guitarist CASEY CALVERT, which they’ll debut at their first show without the late rocker.
The group will perform at next month’s (Apr08) Bamboozle Left festival in California and they’ve written a special song honouring their bandmate, who died of an accidental overdose in November (07).
Drummer Eron Bucciarelli tells RollingStone.com, "Once we’re out there, we’ll announce it and let people know what it is. It’s going to be on our next album, but the song is still a work in progress and we’re changing it day by day." Calvert’s death has left the band with performance anxiety, because they’ve had to relearn all their tunes as a four-piece, and even considered sampling the late guitarist trademark screaming - so he’d be very much a part of the live set.
Bucciarelli adds, "We played around with the idea of sampling his screaming parts from our records and just playing this through the PA, but we decided that wasn’t really real and that it would be better to just let the fans scream along to those parts if they want." Calvert accidentally overdosed from a mixture of prescribed anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medication and painkillers.

TIMBALAND & CORNELL WORKING ON ‘ALBUM OF THE YEAR’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

Hip-hop and R&B superstar TIMBALAND is set to take former SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE’s CHRIS CORNELL to the clubs after secretly collaborating with the rocker on his third solo album.
After working with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and a host of other big names, Timbaland calls his work with Cornell "the best work I’ve done in my career".
And Cornell admits working with the hitmaker was a lot of fun.
He says, "This is different from anything I’ve ever done. I’ve come from an indie rock world, where, if you have a producer, it’s somebody who’s not a musician, not a songwriter.
"He’s just someone who twists knobs and can kinda tell you if they think a song is too long or too short or needs to be more aggressive." The rocker adds, "It was as if we were in a band." Cornell calls the new album, which hasn’t got a release date at present, "a highlight of my career".
Timbaland adds, "This will be everybody’s favourite album of this year."

HEPATITIS C RECOVERY PROMPTS ALLMAN TO POSTPONE SHOWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND have been forced to postpone a string of New York shows to let founding member GREGG ALLMAN fully recover from Hepatitis C treatment.
The group was set to perform 15 shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre in May (08), but these concerts will be rescheduled when Allman is fighting fit again.
A statement from the band reads: "For the past six months, Gregg Allman has been receiving scheduled treatments for Hepatitis C, a virus that, with these treatments, has become curable in recent years. The treatments so far have been successful and the virus has been eradicated from his system.
"However, the recovery time from the side effects of the treatment is taking longer than originally projected (and), since The Allman Brothers Band are known for exhilarating and exhausting concert performances, they don’t want to give fans anything less than they have come to expect.
"So the band members made a group decision to delay the first round of dates." Allman himself says, "I’m getting better but I’m still tired. I need to be at 110 per cent to do the shows the way we do them. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me." As well as postponing the New York shows, The Allman Brothers Band have also cancelled their performance at the Wanee Festival in Florida in April (08).

CORGAN BLASTS MUSIC INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman BILLY CORGAN is using his band’s new legal battle with music industry heavyweights at Virgin to attack the whole business.
The angry rocker and his bandmates filed suit against Virgin bosses on Monday (24Mar08), accusing them of allowing firms to use the group’s name and music for promotional purposes, without permission.
But the lawsuit has only fuelled the rocker’s distaste for the state of the music business - and he’s even taking aim at executives at his current label Warner Brothers.
In a fiery rant to rock magazine Rolling Stone, Corgan claims talking to today’s music heads is like "talking to a brick wall".
He rages, "These people, they treat your music like it’s worthless and they treat you like you’re even more worthless. And that goes for our current label, Warner Brothers, too.
"There’s no passion. There’s no love. There’s no respect. It’s just, like you’re just a number. You might as well be some cookies, or a rock… Warner Brothers treats us like we’re from another planet." And Corgan admits he’s delighted to see the music business struggling as top acts find other ways to sell their music without the need of traditional record companies.
He adds, "The music business has sown the seeds for it’s own destruction here. So we’re not in any hurry to go back and help save them."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:48 pm

R&B star RIHANNA is giving her charity for under-privileged children a big boost by holding a mini-tour to raise funds for the cause.
The Grammy Award-winning artist created the Believe Foundation in 2006 with the aim to assist children in need all over the world. The organisation provides kids with everything from medical attention to school supplies.

She tells People.com, "When I was young and I would watch television and I would see all the children suffering, I always said when I grow up I want to help. Not long after I was in the position where I could help.
"I started to visit all these children’s hospitals and I have a soft spot for kids. I just want to help and make sure they are happy. They can come to a Rihanna concert or have toys or gifts at Christmas."
