DIDDY’S GIRLS ON TOP
Hip-hop mogul SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ all-girl band DANITY KANE have scored a new record on the U.S. albums chart, by becoming the first female group in history to debut at number one with both their debut and second releases.
The band’s Welcome To The Dollhouse sold 236,000 copies in its first week on release to rocket to the top of the new countdown.
The feat also lands the girls, who formed for Combs’ Making The Band reality series, the second biggest debut of the year so far.
Thrilled Combs says, "Over the past few years, I have not only been on a mission to make the bands, I have been on a mission to build careers. The triumphant number one return of Danity Kane is dramatic proof that we are achieving our goal.
"With Welcome To The Dollhouse, these gifted, beautiful, platinum-selling women have confirmed their enormous talent and undeniable star power." Hits compilation Now 27 and Rick Ross’ Trilla complete the new top three, while rapper Flo Rida’s first album, Mail On Sunday, debuts at four.
