SPEARS SPOILED CHAMBERS’ HOSPITAL STAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:45 pm

GREY’S ANATOMY star JUSTIN CHAMBERS blames BRITNEY SPEARS for shining the media spotlight on his private battle with exhaustion.
The actor checked himself into UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles for a break just days before Spears was admitted into the same hospital in a media frenzy.
And Chambers insists only his family and close friends would have known about his health issues if the hospital hadn’t become a hotspot for reporters and the paparazzi.
The 37-year-old tells the new issue of Life & Style magazine, "I only got attention because Britney came. Otherwise, it would’ve been private." Even Chambers’ Grey’s Anatomy castmates didn’t know about the actor’s hospital stay - until the media alerted them.

EASTWOOD MAKES LIGHT OF SCHWARZENEGGER TERMINATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:39 pm

LATEST: CLINT EASTWOOD has laughed off the news fellow action man-turned-politician ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER had terminated him from California’s Parks Commission last week (ends21Mar08).
Oscar winner Eastwood, who was the mayor of Carmel, California in the 1980s, was dismissed from the commission by the state’s Governor Schwarzenegger when he tried to block the construction of a controversial toll road.
The Terminator star also sacked his brother-in-law Bobby Shriver after he and Eastwood publicly disagreed with Schwarzenegger over plans for a toll road through a park in southern California.
And while Eastwood was surprised by the Governor’s decision, he and Shriver are making light of the situation.
Eastwood says, "I talked to him (Shriver) the day we were not reappointed, or as Donald Trump would say, ‘You’re fired.’ "We laughed about it, and I said, ‘Me? But you’re his brother-in-law!’ and he said, ‘But you’re his friend and longtime mentor!’" A spokesman for Schwarzenegger said the pair was let go because their terms had expired.

CRASH PRODUCER’S OSCAR FIGHT KILLED AT APPEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

A Los Angeles appeals court has ruled CRASH producer BOB YARI cannot sue the Producers Guild Of America (PGA) and the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences (AMPAS) in an effort to be awarded an Oscar retroactively.
Yari was one of six producers on Crash, but only two producers are eligible to be nominated in the Best Picture category - an Academy Award the movie won in March 2006.
The PGA selected writer/director/producer Haggis and Cathy Shulman for Crash, a decision approved by Oscar bosses at AMPAS.
Yari, who helped finance the film, was furious when he learned he and three other producers had been left out, and took legal action in February 2006.
A court ruled that same year (06) that private organisations can make their own decisions regarding awards, a decision upheld by the 2nd District Court Of Appeals on Tuesday (25Mar08).
Yari describes the ruling as "unfortunate".
As well as Best Picture, Crash also won Oscars for Best Screenplay (Haggis) and Best Editing (Hughes Winborne).

SWAYZE’S REP BLASTS ILL WOMAN’S CANCER SITE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:36 pm

LATEST: PATRICK SWAYZE’s representative has blasted an Indiana family for illegally using the actor’s likeness in an online campaign, which calls for new cancer treatments to be made available in the U.S.
The Loughmans of Indianapolis launched their new initiative on Monday (24Mar08) in a desperate bid to find a cure for the family matriarch, who ironically is a big fan of the ailing Ghost star.
Connie Loughman was diagnosed with deadly pancreatic cancer last summer (Aug07), just months before Swayze was diagnosed (Jan07).
As part of their public campaign to force U.S. medical bosses to make the treatment possible, the Loughman family has launched the website CureConnieAndPatrick.com - which uses the actor’s name and photo to promote the cause.
The site features information about Connie’s struggle with the illness, and prompts people to leave messages of support for the Ghost actor.
But Swayze’s spokesperson is angry the star has been directly linked to the campaign without the Loughmans seeking his consent, according to TheCelebrityTruth.com.
The representative says, "Patrick is not aware of this website, and he has no association with it or the medication it advertises.
"He is not affiliated with the woman from the site; Patrick had no knowledge of her."

CHASEZ DENIES GAY LOVE AFFAIR WITH CRAWFORD

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:33 pm

Former ‘N SYNC star J.C. CHASEZ has dismissed "stupid" reports he’s dating actor CHACE CRAWFORD - because neither man is gay.
Chasez is fed up with tabloid magazines romantically linking him to any girl he stands next to, but the 31-year-old admits he was surprised by speculation he’s romancing Gossip Girl star Crawford, 22.
Chasez says, "For the record, we’re both straight. We’re not dating.
"The only time people usually see us together is in some type of photograph, so they just assume that it’s like that." He continues, "If I’m dating a girl and I’m standing next to another girl, I’m having an affair. So now, since there hasn’t been any of that smoke out there, if I’m hanging out with a guy, they’re going to make up a rumour. It’s just stupid."

PETA BOSS OFFERS TO PAY OFF FRANKLIN’S TAX BILL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

Animal rights activists People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) have offered to pay soul legend ARETHA FRANKLIN’s $19,000 (£9,500) tax bill if she agrees to stop wearing fur.
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has written to the R.E.S.P.E.C.T
. singer, offering to help her avoid foreclosure on her Michigan home with a cash hand-out - if Franklin hands over her collection of fur coats.
In a letter to the diva, Newkirk writes, "We would like to help you out by paying the approximately $19,000 in back taxes that you owe - if you’ll agree to save animals from hideous suffering and death by promising never to wear fur again and donating your old furs to PETA.
"We are absolutely sincere in making this offer - we believe that you know in your heart that your fans will love you even more if you make a fur-free resolution.
"As you no doubt now realise, animals who are trapped in the wild can suffer for days before dying from exposure, frostbite, shock, or infection or by being strangled, stomped, or bludgeoned to death by trappers." The PETA president concludes by writing, "Our offer is a win-win situation: You get to keep your home, and animals get to keep their lives
. We are rooting for you to please give animals the R-E-S-P-E-C-T that they deserve by giving up fur."

WEILAND BLAMES SORUM’S REHAB STINT FOR CANCELLED TOUR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

VELVET REVOLVER were forced to cancel their Australian tour last year (07) when bandmate MATT SORUM was admitted to rehab, according to frontman SCOTT WEILAND.
The revelation, which Weiland doesn’t expand upon, comes as part of an astonishing attack on Sorum, after the drummer went public with tensions in the band.
Singer Weiland shocked Velvet Revolver fans last Thursday (20Mar08) with an onstage announcement that the group’s current tour will be its last.
Sorum responded on the band’s website the next day (21Mar08), writing, "Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don’t get along. I guess there has been more turmoil… Everybody could see who was unhappy last night." And now Weiland, who himself spent 28 days in rehab earlier this year (08), has slammed former The Cult and Guns ‘N Roses star Sorum for speaking out about his personal life.
In a statement to website Blabbermouth.net, Weiland says, "Responding to our drummer’s rant about why the band is in a state of flux - well, first of all, the state of my family affairs is really none of his business, since he is too immature to have a real relationship, let alone children…
"Secondly, ‘Keeping rock ‘n’ roll alive?’ I’ve made many attempts to remain cordial with the members of Velvet Revolver, but mainly, the likes of you (Sorum). Funny though - this is your first band, as opposed to being a hired gun.
"I’ve been making records (I’m now on my ninth) which have sold over 35 million copies worldwide and have maintained a level of professionalism regardless of how many drugs I’ve ingested into my system.
"I have only cancelled one tour during the entire course of my 16-year run.
Now, shall I open that can of worms, Matthew?… You cancelled the Aussie tour in the fall because you went to rehab, but I won’t say why.
"As for our fans - I will sweat, bruise, and bleed for you. And will continue to do so until the end of this tour…
"It’s a shame, we were a gang. But ego and jealousy can get the better of anyone. I wish the best and plan to annihilate the stage in the last few shows." Meanwhile, guitarist Slash has insisted the band is not in danger of splitting up.
He says, "Let’s put it this way - this is not Velvet Revolver’s last tour."

DIDDY’S LAWYER SPEAKS OUT ABOUT TIMES ARTICLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:30 pm

LATEST: SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ lawyer has attacked the publisher of the Los Angeles Times newspaper for ignoring a letter he sent, warning against running an article that linked the rap mogul to a 1994 attack on slain star TUPAC SHAKUR.
The attorney, Howard Weitzman, urged Times boss David Hiller to dismiss reporter Chuck Phillips’ 17 March (08) article, which stated Combs - real name Sean Combs - had advance knowledge of an "ambush" of Shakur.
The controversial article also offered up new information about Shakur’s murder in 1996.
Phillips has stood by his article, despite suggestions his report was based on fake documents, but now Weitzman has gone public with the warning letter he sent the publisher.
The lawyer admits he tried to talk the Times out of publishing the article after reading it online, but they did so anyway.
In his letter to Hiller, Weitzman reveals he asked the publisher to "refrain from reprinting" the article, calling for the "false accusation" to "immediately be retracted".
Weitzman tells TMZ.com, "The Times completely ignored my letter, did nothing to correct their defamatory article, and never held the reporter, Chuck Philips, to the Code Of Ethics the paper supposedly had set for its writers.
"We will continue to seek a retraction and to pursue appropriate remedies given the egregious and reckless conduct of Mr. Philips and the L.A. Times."
