U.S. actor PENN BADGLEY was named after a tennis ball.
The Gossip Girl star was given his unusual moniker because his father used to squeeze Penn-brand tennis balls to combat his nerves.
Badgley explains, "My dad would grip tennis balls when he was stressed during my mom’s pregnancy.
"He was bouncing a Penn tennis ball when she got her first sonogram. My mom casually said, ‘He’s about the size of the tennis ball.’ And they were like, ‘Penn!’"
