R&B star KELLY ROWLAND wants to follow in the footsteps of her former DESTINY’S CHILD bandmate MICHELLE WILLIAMS and take to the New York stage.
The My Boo hitmaker is reportedly keen to try her hand at acting on Broadway, and has instructed her manager, former bandmate Beyonce Knowles’ father Matthew Knowles, and his team to help her land a role in a hit show.
According to MediaTakeOut.com, Knowles has already contacted the producers of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and The Color Purple, with the producers of both stageshows expressing interest in having Rowland join their casts.
Michelle Williams has previously starred in the Broadway productions of Aida and The Color Purple. Rowland’s acting experience includes roles in movies Freddy vs. Jason in 2002, and The Seat Filler in 2004.

MY NAME IS EARL star JASON LEE is slightly begrudging of the comedy TV series’ success - because he’s "sick" of sporting his character’s trademark moustache off set.
The actor, who is currently shooting season three of the popular show, has to undertake meticulous pruning procedures to keep his facial hair in shape, and he admits he is growing tired of the process.
He says, "I gotta tell you, sometimes I regret the idea of having one for the show. It’s a pretty damn good moustache but it’s a commitment, you know? "Once a week I have to get the clippers and trim it. I’m kind of sick of it now because filming Earl takes seven months of the year. Plus it’s more recognised than I am!!"

Actress KATE BOSWORTH isn’t a big fan of desert-based Las Vegas - because of the city’s lack of greenery.
The Superman Returns beauty shot her latest movie, casino thriller 21, in the gambling and party mecca for six weeks, but soon became bored of its brash appeal - blaming the treeless city for turning her "crazy".
She tells Britain’s Total Film magazine, "Everyone I know describes Vegas as the adult Disneyland, which I can kind of understand, although I think it’s a bit more debauched than that! "To be really honest, Vegas isn’t really my cup of tea. I actually enjoyed some of the shows, but being there for six weeks - it’s a long time. We all felt like we’d been living in a big parking lot and we were all really happy to get out of there.
She adds, "You know - you miss trees! It makes you go a little crazy after a while."

Teenage actor THOMAS SANGSTER is set to take on the role of cult comic hero TINTIN in the upcoming movie franchise, according to reports.
The 17-year-old Brit, who has starred in hit movies Love Actually and Nanny McPhee, is said to have emerged as the frontrunner to play the intrepid young reporter in a trilogy of films based on the famed comics by Belgian cartoonist Herge, aka Georges Remi.
And Sangster sparked further speculation he is to be handed the lead role in the planned film trilogy after flying to Los Angeles to work on test action sequences with renowned moviemaker Steven Spielberg, who is to direct the first installment in the franchise.
Although Sangster’s agent has refused to comment about his involvement with the project - due to start shooting in the autumn (08) - the representative admits the Brit has travelled to Hollywood for meetings and urges fans to "watch this space".
If Sangster does win the leading role, he will join fellow British star Andy Serkis in the film franchise. Serkis has signed on to play Tintin’s sidekick Captain Haddock.
The trilogy will reportedly be split between Spielberg and Peter Jackson, with the Schindler’s List director managing the first film in the franchise, and the Lord Of The Rings moviemaker taking on the second and third.

Hollywood veteran DONALD SUTHERLAND was forced to turn down the chance of playing real life son KIEFER’s fictional dad in hit TV show 24 - because he was too busy.
The actor was tied up working on new movie Fool’s Gold when Kiefer approached him about the role, which ultimately went to Babe star James Cromwell.
However, "sad" Donald desperately tried to pave a way for him to portray the father of Kiefer’s counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer at a later date - by making a far-fetched plot proposal.
The 72-year-old - an avid viewer of the action series - says, "He asked me to play his father but I couldn’t because I was doing (Fool’s Gold). That was sad.
"When it turned out I couldn’t do it, I said to Kiefer, ‘Why don’t you have it turn out that James is your stepfather? And then I come in…"

Tycoon DONALD TRUMP is suing a Las Vegas-based company for illegally using the name of his Miss U.S.A. beauty pageant to promote their own Senorita Mexico U.S.A. contest.
The property mogul-turned-reality TV star is furious the organisers of the Latin pageant have deliberately attempted to associate their event with his world-famous Miss U.S.A. brand, after the Senorita Mexico owners posted photographs of Trump’s other beauty contests - including pictures of the businessman himself - on their website.
Trump’s Miss Universe firm, which runs the Miss U.S.A. contests, filed suit last week (18Mar08) against Adan S. Perez, Luz S. Bolivar and The Miss Mexico Organization LLC citing copyright and trademark infringement, unfair competition and false designation of origin or sponsorship.
But the legal battle is not new - Trump has been fighting Perez and Bolivar since 2005, when he demanded they cease and desist using trademarks similar to his own organisation’s.
According to legal papers, obtained by website TMZ.com, Trump is now also claiming compensation for common law trademark infringement and trademark dilution and disparagement.

JACKASS star JOHNNY KNOXVILLE is single - his divorce from MELANIE LYNN has been officially finalised.
Knoxville, real name Philip John Clapp, filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years last year (07) citing "irreconcilable differences".
The former couple wed in 1995 and have a daughter, Madison, together. They are both seeking joint custody of the child.
Although their marriage has officially been dissolved, Knoxville and Lynn have yet to settle other outstanding legal issues, including division of assets regarding community property, spousal and child support and child custody.

Wrestling superstar HULK HOGAN and his family are facing legal action from the family of JOHN GRAZIANO, who was left seriously injured after a 2007 car crash.
Graziano’s parents are suing Hogan and his estranged wife for failing to prevent the car crash. The wrestler’s son, Nick Bollea, was driving his father’s car at the time of the accident.
Bollea, 17, had his driving licence suspended for a year in November (07) after Florida officials deemed him a dangerous driver, following an August (07) accident that left his friend Graziano needing nursing care for the rest of his life.
Bollea has also been charged with reckless driving involving serious bodily injury and will be tried as an adult when his case reaches court next month (14Apr08).
But his legal troubles don’t end there - now the Graziano family has filed suit against Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, his estranged wife Linda and Nick, charging them with negligence.
According to court papers, filed on Monday (24Mar08) in Pinellas County, Florida, the Grazianos accuse the Bollea family of being directly liable for the accident.

ELBOW frontman GUY GARVEY has launched a scathing attack on fashion-conscious rock bands, accusing them of making music solely for the money.
The British singer, whose band has always intentionally veered away from commercial appeal, insists he could never sacrifice his passion for art to churn out high-earning anthems.
And Garvey is sick of the constant stream of trendy, commercial-friendly groups - because their contribution to the music industry is "s**t".
He rants, "If we (Elbow) wanted to change what we are and make hits, we could do so very easily. But it drives me mad when a band compromises everything to sell records - they’re wasting such an opportunity.
"If you’re going to wear skinny jeans, have s**t hair and write s**t songs you may as well be on a reality TV show, because you’re putting fame before art."

Singer JOHN MAYER has laughed off rumours claiming he "Googles himself every morning".
In a recent report by New York Post’s gossip column PageSix, the publication alleged the rocker is so obsessed with his image, he regularly checks his online popularity via search engine Google - so that he can confirm or deny the reports himself "just to clear the air".
But in a new post on his blog on Monday (24Mar08) morning, Mayer insists the claims are "quite simply, untrue".

Soul star INDIA.ARIE is to add music executive to her resume - she’s launching her own record label called SoulBird Music.
The singer has teamed up with Universal Republic Records for the new project, and she has already signed her first three artists to the label, with her longtime collaborator Anthony David releasing his debut album Acey Deucey via SoulBird this summer (08).
Describing the label’s philosophy as "music with wings", Arie says, "In this era, soul is not a sound or a colour, it’s an intention.
"James Taylor has it and so does Al Green, John Mayer and Anthony David.
That’s the kind of music I want SoulBird to represent - music with intelligence and heart, music that moves people in their souls and their bodies. Music with wings."

GEORGE MICHAEL’s summer (08) arena tour of the U.S. will be his last - because he no longer wants to play shows to big audiences.
The Fast Love singer is set to take his 25 Live tour to America this June (08), in what will be his first U.S. roadshow in 17 years.
But Michael, 44, admits he is desperate to scale down the size of his concerts and play more intimate venues in future.
He tells newspaper USA Today, "I don’t want to do anything on this scale again. No more stadiums. I’d like to be the Tony Bennett for my generation.
"It’s the end of a certain era, and I’m not sure how much I really want to be a part of what’s next. So, it’s a kind of a way of saying thank you to everybody before I move on."

LATEST: FAT JOE has fired back at his rap rival 50 CENT by featuring the star and his G-UNIT counterparts on the cover of his new mixtape - all wearing make-up.
The digitally-altered image is set to appear on Gay Unit Vol. 1, a compilation by Terror Squad affiliate DJ Suge White hosted by the crew’s frontman Fat Joe.
In the CD artwork, 50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - is pictured in a tight embrace with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo with lipstick smeared on their faces. Yayo, a former convict, is shown with an "I Miss Jail" tattoo on his shoulder and Banks is portrayed with a portrait of 50 on his bicep with the word "Delicious" directly underneath.
Gay Unit Vol. 1 is a direct response to 50’s latest video attack on Joe, in which the In Da Club hitmaker holds a mock funeral for the heavyweight star and claims his career is over.
In the video footage, posted on his website ThisIs50.com, 50 claims his spoof mixtape Elephant In The Sand - a play on Joe’s album title The Elephant In The Room - scored 700,000 downloads last week (ends21Mar08), while his competitor’s official album only debuted with 46,000 copies in the same period.
And in another Internet video hitting back at 50, Joe accuses the rap superstar of cheating in his sales claims - because his mixtape was available for free.
In the new video clip, which was posted on YouTube.com, Joe’s camp claims 50’s label, Interscope Records, provided a budget of $27 million (£13.5 million) for his third album Curtis, with losses totalling $22.6 million (£11.3 million) for the project.
These figures are then compared to Joe’s independent release, which allegedly made $50,674 (£25,462) net profit from first week sales.
And in the last part of the video, Joe implies 50 is no longer at the top of his game. The still reads: "Congratulations, Curtis. You bragging about FREE downloads now? How mighty have fallen (sic)."

BRUCE WILLIS has scuppered his hard-man image after becoming a partner in a trendy New York wine bar.
The Die Hard star is a joint owner of Manhattan’s Bowery Wine Company, which is set to open to the public this week (begs24Mar08).
But the actor treated his pals to a special private party last week (ends21Mar08), allowing them to sample the fine dining and various selection of wines on offer, before taking his place behind the bar to serve refreshments to his own guests, according to the New York Post’s PageSix.
Chris Sileo, Willis’ business partner in the Bowery Wine Company, describes the wine bar as "upscale and loungy. We’ll have high-end, light fare that will include paninis, salads and desserts."

Rockers DAUGHTRY are hoping to boost funds for BONO’s One campaign by staging an intimate concert in Las Vegas for fans who bid for tickets in an online auction.
Two hundred of the 300 tickets available for the upcoming showcase at the Beatles Revolution Lounge in the Mirage hotel and casino will be sold on eBay.com.
The tickets for the 13 April (08) show will go under the hammer on Monday night (24Mar08) - and they’ll be on sale for a week.
Auction organisers Auction Cause have linked with Bono’s high-profile charity organisation, which raises funds for AIDS and poverty-hit areas of the planet.

Reality TV star KELLY OSBOURNE has launched a scathing attack on the paparazzi - branding their frenzied behaviour around certain celebrities as "dangerous".
The 23-year-old claims she was on a night out after the NME Awards in London earlier this year (08) when awaiting press launched into a tirade of abuse towards her and model pal Kate Moss.
And Osbourne even alleges one photographer got physical, hitting her with a camera when the media onslaught became too boisterous.
She says, "I know when you become famous, you sell your soul to the devil.
But it’s dangerous. I have this bruise - that’s from a cameraman. He slammed his camera on my wrist. There were so many, and they were pushing.
"I had a great time after the NME Awards, it started to go bad when the paps (paparazzi) began making horrible comments as we were leaving, to get a reaction."

Dance star MOBY has warned troubled stars AMY WINEHOUSE and PETE DOHERTY they will "burn out" before they hit 30 if they continue their drug-addled lifestyles.
The Play singer/songwriter is concerned about how today’s talented singers are abusing their bodies and minds - insisting stars don’t realise just how damaging drugs can be to their careers.
But 42-year-old Moby - real name Richard Melville Hall - understands their addictive tenancies, confessing he would take mind-bending medications every day if they didn’t ruin his health.
He says, "If there were no negative side-effects I would be high every single minute of every day. But drugs take a huge toll. A few people, like Keith Richards, manage to do it in a sustainable way.
"But when I look at Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse, I wonder what they’re going to be capable of when they’re 30, in terms of cognitive and emotional abilities. Drugs burn you out.
"You feel bulletproof if you’re selling records and making money and everyone wants to sleep with you, but then things start to go wrong."
