Tejano singer EMILIO NAVAIRA has been hospitalised with serious head injuries after his band’s tour bus crashed in Houston, Texas.
The Grammy Award-winning star is in a critical condition following the accident that police say took place at 5am on Sunday (23Mar08) morning.
The 45-year-old and his band Rio, who performed in Houston on Saturday (22Mar08) night, were travelling on interstate 610 when their bus collided with two other cars, nearly tipping over in the process.
Eight people, including Navaira, were hospitalised following the incident.
Navaira’s agent says in a statement: "Our current understanding is that Emilio suffered serious head injuries and surgery was performed this morning where a blood clot was removed from his brain. He is presently in guarded condition in intensive care.
"We ask his friends and fans for their prayers during this difficult time and we will release more information as it is available."
