TV writer RAYMOND GOLDSTONE has died. He was 88.
He died of a heart attack at his California home on Thursday (13Mar08).
Goldstone penned scripts for a variety of hit U.S. shows including General Hospital, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest and Days of Our Lives - for which he landed a handful of Emmy nominations.
A memorial service will held in Beverly Hills on 25 April (08).
He is survived by his wife, actress Mary Ellen Jennings Goldstone, reports Variety.com.

Romantic drama QUIET CHAOS is leading the way at Italy’s David di Donatello movie awards with a massive 18 nominations.
Antonello Grimaldi’s 2008 much-acclaimed film received a nod in every category for which it is eligible to pick up a gong, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director for Grimaldi, and Best Leading Actor and Actress.
The picture, which features a cameo appearance from legendary director Roman Polanski, has taken more than $8 million (£4 million) at the Italian box office since its release earlier this year (08).
Other contenders for the coveted awards include thriller The Girl by the Lake, which received 15 nods, and The Right Distance which is up for eight prizes, according to Variety.com.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Italy on 18 April (08).

MICKEY ROURKE has been sentenced to six months’ probation after pleading guilty to charges of reckless driving in relation to his November 2007 arrest in Miami Beach, Florida.
The Angel Heart star was pulled over by police after they spotted him weaving all over the road on his Vespa scooter.
Rourke was initially booked for driving under the influence (DUI), but authorities later admitted the Breathalyzer test - which the actor failed during his arrest - was incorrect.
A second machine used later showed Rourke was just under the legal limit, and the DUI charge is expected to be officially dropped by Miami Beach’s District Attorney.
Rourke, 55, was sentenced for the reckless driving charge on Friday (21Mar08) and ordered to undertake 50 hours of community service, in addition to paying a fine and legal costs totalling $1,178.75 (£589.38).
However, he was allowed to buy the hours to avoid having to complete the community work and paid $10 (£5) for each hour received.
His lawyer Michael Grieco says, "The only thing he has to do is take an online driving course."

Rapper PAPERBOY has been arrested in California on charges of marijuana possession.
The Grammy nominated star, real name Mitchell Charles Johnson, was taken into police custody earlier this week (ends21Mar08) after cops allegedly caught him with the drug during a traffic stop in Merced, California.
He was also booked on misdemeanour counts of marijuana transportation, driving on a suspended license and illegal possession of prescription medication, following the discovery of a bottle of medicine which was not in his name.
The Ditty lyricist has been released on $10,000 (£5,000) bail, reports TMZ.com.

Rapper GILLIE DA KID has been cleared of all charges relating to a 2007 arrest for drugs.
The hip-hop star, real name S’ard Nasir, spent time behind bars in February (07) after being detained by Philadelphia authorities in a drugs bust involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Cops discovered almost $500,000 (£250,000)-worth of marijuana in two houses allegedly run by Gillie and five associates.
However, Gillie - who protested his innocence throughout the case - has now had charges of conspiracy and possession of narcotics with intent to deliver dropped.
Meanwhile, the former Major Figgas MC has signed a new deal with Koch Records, ending speculation over his links with G-Unit and Atlantic Records.
In a statement addressing his new record contract and legal issues, he says, "Shout out to Alan Grunblatt and Shadow Stokes at Koch for believing in a n**ga and standing by a n**ga through all of this…
"Shout out to my manager Yanna B. for doin’ her thing and holdin’ me down, and a big shout out to Tony Draper for comin’ in and helping me seal the deal…"

LATEST: The reporter who linked SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS to a gun attack on late rapper TUPAC SHAKUR has refused to back down over the claims - insisting the story was factually correct.
The Los Angeles Times ran an article on Monday (17Mar08) claiming the music mogul’s former manager, Czar Entertainment CEO Jimmy ‘Henchman’ Rosemond was involved in a plan to ambush Shakur at a New York Recording studio in 1994.
Both Combs and Rosemond have hit back at the allegations - denying any involvement in the attack which saw Shakur shot five times, two years before he was murdered in Las Vegas. No one was ever charged in connection with the shooting, which was believed to have started a "gang war" which eventually resulted in Shakur’s death.
Chuck Phillips, the journalist who wrote the story, also penned an article linking late rapper and Combs’ protege Notorious B.I.G. to Shakur’s death in 1996 - a claim which has also been vehemently denied by Rosemond, who slated the story as full of "false information".
But Phillips is standing by his claims, insisting his research was accurate.
He says, "I try to go and find people who are directly involved or know people who are involved in the actual crime. I work the same as police do except I’m not a cop so people are not afraid to talk to me because I’m not going to arrest them.
"I deal with a lot of criminals in my work and I treat them with respect and I’m very secret about the information I gather from individuals and anybody that I work with. There are some dangerous people who I work with, but their information is safe with me." Rosemond has since threatened legal action against the publication.

LATEST: Rapper LIL’ WAYNE "loved" spending time in the U.K. despite having one of his concerts cut short after a series of fights broke out in the crowd.
The star - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. - was playing a gig at London’s Stratford Rex but was reportedly forced off the stage early when the audience started throwing bottles at him.
The hip-hop star found the experience terrifying, but insists he hasn’t let it mar his opinion of his trip to Britain.
He tells MTV, "It’s scary at first. But then refreshing when you walk offstage and hear everyone shouting, ‘Weezy, Weezy, Weezy.’ (That’s) a relief.
They knew the words to my songs, my girlfriends’ phone numbers, everything.
That’s a big surprise to know that they actually understand what I’m talking about.
"This whole experience has just been interesting, to say the least. I love it."

KID ROCK is set to team up with rap superstars RUN-DMC again - because he loves working with the group.
The 37-year-old star performed with the band at the 1999 MTV Music Awards, joining Run-DMC and rockers Aerosmith for their hit single Walk This Way.
Rock - real name Robert Ritchie - has since toured with the hip-hop legends and can’t wait to collaborate with them again, as he’s been a fan since childhood.
He says, "For me, Run-DMC was really the blues music of my day and age. When I really got older…I started to analyse music and break it down - my love for blues music for jazz, R&B, which basically and put its finger on everything on popular culture until hip-hop came along.
"When hip-hop came along, this has been the only other musical art form that we’ve seen that’s touched everything in popular culture."

Actress COURTENEY COX ARQUETTE and husband DAVID have given themselves two weeks to raise $1 million (£500,000) for charity, to raise funds for people with an incurable skin condition.
The pair want to raise the cash for the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, of which they are honorary board members, and have roped in their celebrity friends to help launch the charity into the media spotlight.
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a genetic condition which causes internal organs to blister and the skin to ulcerate and disintegrate simply by touch, leaving burn-like sores all over sufferers’ bodies, which do not heal.
Stars including Jennifer Aniston, Orlando Bloom and Kate Beckinsale have vowed to help the duo generate the money within a fortnight.
Cox Arquette says, "Now is such an important time to put the spotlight on EB and ensure that research can continue at a fast pace. EB is very personal to me so I’m happy to be a part of this $1 million challenge."

A man has been arrested in Panama for allegedly stealing the headlamps from the actor’s car while he was busy shooting the latest in the superspy franchise.
It is the second taste of real-life crime for the 007 star - last month (Feb08) he was caught up in a gun battle between rival gangsters in the Central American city.

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s estranged wife HEATHER MILLS has been accused of hypocrisy after boarding a first class flight to New York - and reportedly leaving daughter BEATRICE in economy.
Mills attacked the former Beatle following their divorce settlement on Monday (17Mar08) for failing to give their four-year-old daughter enough maintenance to travel first class and vowed to pay for the expensive travel costs herself.
The former model said: "Beatrice only gets $70,000 (£35,000) a year so she is meant to travel B class while her father travels A class." However, the 40-year-old has booked a first class Virgin flight to the U.S.
this weekend (22Mar08), while her daughter will travel out days later in a cheaper seat, reports British newspaper The Sun.
A spokesman for Virgin could not confirm or deny the allegations, adding, "We never discuss passengers’ travel arrangements.
Mills won $33 million (£16.5 million) cash with assets worth $15.6 million (£7.8 million) following the breakdown of her four-year marriage to McCartney.
The couple - who wed in 2002 - failed to reach an agreement last month (Feb08) and it was left to a London High Court judge to make the final decision.

Hollywood actress LINDSAY LOHAN is to spend her Easter weekend (21-24Mar08) visiting her terminally ill grandfather.
The Mean Girls star, along with her pal DJ Samantha Ronson, flew from Los Angeles to her native Long Island, New York, on Wednesday (19Mar08) to visit her family and spend time with her paternal granddad Richard Lohan, who is currently in the intensive care unit at North Shore University Hospital.
The 73-year-old is reportedly suffering from colon cancer and Lohan vowed to clear her schedule and fly home for the weekend.
The star’s father, Michael, insists his eldest daughter is doing her best to make sure she can spend time with her sick grandfather.
He says, "Right now, he’s really been broken down by this disease. We’re going to get together, and I’m very sure we’ll drive over to visit him. I’m sure that will make him happy."

Real estate mogul and reality TV star DONALD TRUMP has hit back at reports he hired an underage model to pose naked to promote his vodka line.
The Apprentice producer was accused of using a 17-year-old girl to serve drinks at a Super Bowl party for his alcohol brand Trump Vodka last month (Feb08) - wearing nothing but coloured body paint.
Website TMZ.com reported Chanell Elaine Hallett was photographed working as a nude hostess at the party, and was a week short of her 18th birthday at the time.
But Trump representatives have insisted that the girl was not working at the party - accusing her of turning up to the event uninvited and adopting the same guise as the rest of the hostesses as a publicity stunt.
A spokesman tells TMZ.com, "Trump Vodka outsourced the models through an Arizona-based promotional modeling and marketing agency and neither party was aware of the underage hire. All precautions were taken to ensure all service staff was of legal age, and we do intend to investigate the issue further.
"Given the circumstances, we can only guess that she crashed the event to seek publicity for herself."

Oscar winner BUCK HENRY has been diagnosed with cancer, according to reports.
The writer/comedian, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay adaptation of The Graduate in 1967, is suffering from an unspecified type of cancer. A message was allegedly sent to his friends on social networking site MySpace to inform them of the diagnosis.
His agent so far declined to comment on Henry’s condition.

BROOKE SHIELDS is desperate to become a mum-of-three - but is having a hard time persuading her husband they are ready for another baby.
The Lipstick Jungle star already has two girls, Rowan Frances, four, and Grier Hammond, 23 months, with her second husband television writer Chris Henchy.
And despite her well-publicised battle with post-natal depression after the birth of her daughters, the star insists she wants to have another child.

The FOO FIGHTERS are happy to be labelled the "nicest band in the world" and put it down to their lowly beginnings when they played their first gigs in people’s basements.
The Everlong hitmakers have long been known as the "nice guys" of rock and their amicable reputation has been fuelled by comments from Against Me! bassist Andrew Seward who supported the band on their recent North American tour.
Seward said, "They say that (Foo Fighters frontman) Dave Grohl and his crew are the nicest guys in rock ‘n’ roll, and they are not lying." And Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel, who joined the rockers in 1995, insists they don’t mind the label and is sure it stems from the camaraderie they experienced when rock took over the 1990s music scene.
He says, "What I attribute it to is the way Dave and I, and the other guys, too, to an extent - we grew up in bands that started out playing shows in people’s basements.
"There was a lot of people looking out for other people, and people playing music for the music’s sake. There wasn’t really any sense of an ‘Us against Them’ back then. And we’ve still all got that attitude of being very grateful that people want to see you play, and come out in the numbers they do."

Heavy metal band HELLION’s record label has dismissed reports the rockers are to reunite for a series of shows this summer (08) - concerts claiming to feature the group are actually being headlined by a tribute band.
The stars originally formed in 1982, and have been on a hiatus since the release of 2003 album Will Not Go Quietly.
They were alleged to be reforming for a series of gigs in clubs and theatres across North America later this year, but a spokesman for New Renaissance Records has denied the band’s reunion, blaming the confusion on a group illegally calling themselves Hellion.
Representative Tony Collatta says: "It came to our attention that a group calling itself ‘Hellion’ booked themselves into a series of clubs and theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
"The imposters not only used the Hellion logo, but also included the song ‘Screams In The Night’ in radio commercials and photos of singer Ann Boleyn on flyers and other advertising." Frontwoman Boleyn is currently teaming up with original Detente members Dennis Butler, guitarist Caleb Quinn and bassist Steve Hochheiser to perform at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany this July (08), reports Blabbermouth.net.
Collatta adds, "Ann seems very happy with the way Détente is sounding and seems to be focusing her effort in that direction. However, she has no intention of giving up ownership or control of band name ‘Hellion.’"
