MINOGUE PLANS TO BACKPACK AROUND THE GLOBE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:41 pm

Pop star KYLIE MINOGUE is planning to backpack around the world when she finishes her next tour.
The singer threw herself back into music after successfully beating breast cancer in 2006, and is about to embark on her second tour in two years.
But Minogue is already planning a big escape as soon as the road show wraps.
She says, "After the next tour I’d love to just put on a backpack and go." The 39-year-old was bitten by the travel bug when she took a week’s vacation after being given the cancer all clear.
She tells U.S. magazine Interview, "Just after I finished my treatment, I didn’t want to rush back to London or Paris - the two places I’d associated with being ill - so I went to Sri Lanka.
"I remember feeling truly happy there because I had some privacy. I was with people who didn’t look at me in the same way as people do at home, and who, with the tsunami and civil war, had suffered so much more than I had.
"It was just one week but it was worth a million weeks."

She says, "That was Jermaine’s concept… I love J.D., he’s like my brother but he makes these things up and he gets an idea and then he tells the world."

JAGGER WANTED TO READ WOOD’S MEMOIRS BEFORE PUBLICATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:38 pm

SIR MICK JAGGER was upset his ROLLING STONES bandmate RONNIE WOOD didn’t offer him the chance to read his autobiography before it was published.
Wood’s memoirs, Ronnie, documents Wood’s hellraising life, and includes fiery anecdotes involving his Rolling Stones colleagues - but he didn’t let any of them read the book until after it was released.
And Jagger would have liked the chance to read the book before it hit book stores in October last year (07).
He says, "I haven’t read it, though he very kindly gave it to me, inscribed, for Christmas (07). In fact, someone else did, too, so I’ve got two copies now.
"To be truthful, I did not receive any advance manuscripts from Ronnie. I think it’s always polite to do that though." Fellow Stones star Keith Richards has already taken aim at Wood’s tome, claiming that only 50 per cent of the anecdotes are correct.

BATMAN’S COSTUME TO GO UNDER THE HAMMER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:35 pm

MICHAEL KEATON’s BATMAN costume and dinosaurs from the JURASSIC PARK movies are to go under the hammer with the first-ever Irving G. Thalberg memorial Oscar at the 31st Profiles In History Hollywood memorabilia auction.
The $4 million (£2 million) Los Angeles auction, which takes place on 27 and 28 March (08), also features a rare King Kong six-sheet movie poster - one of only three known to exist - and Charles Middleton’s Ming The Merciless cape from 1936 movie classic Flash Gordon.
The Batman costume is expected to be the auction’s highlight, and is estimated to fetch between $60,000 (£30,000) and $80,000 (£40,000).
Meanwhile, the Thalberg Oscar producer Darryl F. Zanuck won in 1938 is set to be one of the auction’s high-priced items.
To this day, the Thalberg Memorial Award is the rarest and most prestigious honour bestowed by the Academy. It is only given an average of once every other year.
There have only been 36 recipients, and the accolade has not been bestowed on anyone since 2000, when movie mogul Dino De Laurentiis was honoured.

MAKE-UP COVERED LONGORIA’S MISSING TATTOO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:35 pm

EVA LONGORIA PARKER has blamed the magic of special effects for the mysterious disappearance of a tattoo that marked her wedding to basketball star TONY PARKER.
The actress was photographed last week (ends14Mar08) without her ‘VII VII MMVII’ tattoo on her wrist. The symbols are the Roman numerals for 7 7 2007, the date she married Parker in Paris, France.
Gossips claimed the Desperate Housewives had the tattoo lasered off because she and her sportsman spouse are on the verge of divorcing, following a French model’s claims she had an affair with Parker.
But Longoria has a much simpler explanation for the confusion - the tattoo was covered by make-up.
He representative Rachel Krautkremer says, "The tattoo is not removed. She has to cover it for the show (Desperate Housewives) every day, so the make-up must have still been on her wrist."

JONES SLAMS IRRESPONSIBLE ROLE MODELS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:32 pm

Actress RASHIDA JONES has hit out at the "depressing" lack of Hollywood role models for young girls.
Jones, the star of U.S. TV’s The Office and the daughter of music legend Quincy Jones, is fed up with reading about the exploits of troubled celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears.
Instead, the 32-year-old wishes more attention could be focused on responsible role models - like Miley Cyrus.
She says, "I think about what it would be like to have a daughter now, one who is influenced by Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears - and, ugh, it’s so depressing.
"Where are the other young Hollywood role models who are cool, smart, and out there doing something with their lives? Maybe Miley Cyrus? There’s a definite responsibility that comes with being famous. You shouldn’t be able to just…
look pretty."

BRITNEY’S NEW LOVE RIVAL SPEAKS OUT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:29 pm

Model AMANDA PAGEL was outraged when she discovered the charming Brit she was dating was sleeping with BRITNEY SPEARS.
The Wyoming native has spoken out about her brief romance with the Toxic troublemaker’s on/off photographer beau Adnan Ghalib, revealing she had no idea the snapper was still dating Spears behind her back.
And, to make matters worse, the married paparazzo used the same pet name for both his girls.
Pagel, 21, tells the upcoming issue of America’s In Touch magazine that Ghalib swore his relationship with his ex was purely platonic.
She tells the publication, "The first time he came over to my house, I asked about Britney. He swore they were just good friends.
"He promised they weren’t having sex and he kept reminding me what a hard time Britney had been through." Pagel admits she fell for the paparazzo after meeting him at a party in January (08), and she was charmed by his "gentle and sweet" nature.
She adds, "I felt like I’d known him all my life. He’s a fantastic kisser, too." But the romance quickly soured when Pagel learned the cute nickname Ghalib gave her was the same he used when cooing about his ‘ex’ Britney.
She explains, "He started calling me Bebe but I found out that’s his pet name for Britney, too, which hurts."

BJORK: ‘PRESS EXAGGERATED MY TIBET COMMENTS’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

LATEST: Singer BJORK has accused the media of exaggerating her recent pro-Tibetan independence remark during a Chinese concert.
The Icelandic star was chastised by the communist country’s culture ministry for chanting "Tibet" several times during her freedom anthem Declare Independence at a gig in Shanghai on 2 March (08).
But Bjork insists her comments were blown out of all proportion by overzealous reporting online.
She says, "When I said ‘Tibet, Tibet,’ I whispered it three times. There was no fuss in the room. It happened afterwards on websites.
"It shows more than anything that China has become the next superpower in the world. And the issue is, how are they going to deal with Western moral issues like freedom of speech? "Songs like Declare Independence for me are about humanity. I stand by what I said." China has ruled Tibet since 1951, and officials, upset by the Icelandic singer’s suggestions that Tibetans should be free, initially threatened to blacklist all artists who make political comments that oppose Chinese law.
In a statement on its website, the Ministry of Culture stated: "We will further tighten controls on foreign artists performing in China in order to prevent similar cases from happening in the future.
"We shall never tolerate any attempt to separate Tibet from China and will no longer welcome any artists who deliberately do this.
"Some artist deliberately turned a commercial show into a political performance, which not only broke Chinese law, but also hurt Chinese audiences’ feelings." Chinese vice-minister of culture, Zhou Heping, has since ruled against the outrage, stating, "It was just an individual case."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

LATEST: The VAN HALEN reunion tour is back on following EDDIE VAN HALEN’s brief medical hiatus.
The rock supergroup put the tour on hold earlier this month (Mar08) to allow the guitarist to seek medical help for an undisclosed issue.
The rocker, who has battled cancer and substance abuse, was put under doctors’ care, and, according to publicists, will "continue medical tests to define a course of treatment".
Reports suggested the Van Halen star had returned to rehab, but his ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli has dismissed the claims.
As a result of his medical problem, 17 Van Halen dates were postponed.
But the band is back on the road again - the tour will proceed on 19 April (08) in Las Vegas. Twenty new dates have been added, concluding with a gig in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 2 June (08).

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

Two fired Texas police officers, accused of holding country singer STEVE HOLY at gunpoint, have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Randy Anderson, 26, and Paul Loughridge, 48, were indicted on Monday (17Mar08). Anderson was also charged with kidnapping.
The two off-duty cops met Holy and a friend in a Dallas bar on 27 December (08) before the group returned to the star’s home.
There, they allegedly forced Holy to the ground, pointed a gun at his head and threatened to kill him during a heated argument over whether he was a professional or not.
Police officials fired Anderson and Loughridge in January (08).
Loughridge believes he will be found not guilty of the aggravated assault charge levelled against him.
He says, "I’ve had faith all along in the criminal justice system, and that faith continues."

Pop superstar KYLIE MINOGUE shared her battle with breast cancer with the world, because she couldn’t bear to lie to her fans.
The Spinning Around hitmaker told fans she was suffering from cancer ahead of her 2005 Show Girl tour - and the singer admits her honesty made the experience more realistic.
She tells Interview Magazine, "Two nights after I was diagnosed, I was meant to start production rehearsal, so I wouldn’t have felt comfortable cancelling all those shows at such late notice without a valid reason. I also think being straight up about my diagnosis made it more present to me, and I couldn’t have dealt with trying to keep up some facade while dealing with everything else."

FARRELL: ‘SEX ADVANCES MEAN NOTHING TO ME’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:53 pm

Actor COLIN FARRELL insists the sexual propositions he’s bombarded with in public mean "less than nothing" to him, quashing theories he uses the saucy encounters to boost his ego.
The Phone Booth star - a notorious lothario - has always spoken candidly about his lust for meaningless intimacy with strangers, and continues to attract female advances whenever he’s out socialising.
However, Farrell never feels good about bedding admirers because he knows the women who approach him aren’t interested in his personality - they’re merely thrill-seekers hooked on seducing celebrities.
He says, "None of these people who want to have a drink with me or want to f**k me, none of them have any idea what I am like as a person.
"With that in mind, it doesn’t make me feel good or bad. It’s better when someone hands you a note with a phone number on it rather than saying, ‘F**k you, you’re a c**t.’ That would be kind of s**t. But it means less than nothing. Really it does."
