BAND CAUSES RIOT AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST FESTIVAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 12:11 am

Hundreds of fans of Canadian rockers F**KED UP were left fearing for their lives at a concert in Austin, Texas early on Saturday (15Mar08) when a riot broke out at the South By Southwest festival showcase.
The band was performing an impromptu gig on Lemar Pedestrian Bridge when an unprecedented 1,000 fans turned up to see them live.
The crowd’s rampant moshing caused the bridge to buckle and bounce under the audience’s weight, which prompted fans to jump into the river below as the bridge seemed in danger of collapse.
Police were called to the scene, but were forced to wait until the riot died down, reports NME.com.
Mike Haliechuck, the band’s guitarist, says, "I could feel the bridge going up and down - it was crazy. The police couldn’t do anything, so they just had to wait." No fans are thought to have been hurt in the incident.
