RICCI’S TATTOO PLANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Bodyart fan CHRISTINA RICCI is on a quest to become a Hollywood superstar - so she can get tattoos all over her body.
The actress is forced to stick to discreet and easy-to-hide etchings, so she isn’t rejected for film roles.
She currently has seven scattered all over her body, and she is planning to have a larger design created on her upper arm - as soon as she is famous enough to get away with it.
Ricci says, "I can’t wait until I’m super-famous. I’m at the point when I should really hide them, because directors don’t like them.
"When I’m really, really super famous, I’m going to get one on my arm because nobody cares then."

  • STONE DEFENDS HER CURVES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:36 pm

Soul singer JOSS STONE has hit out at critics who think she’s too fat, insisting her curves landed her an advertising campaign with British confectionary giants Cadbury.
Stone has been hired as the first celebrity face of Cadbury’s Flake, with the advert following the company’s tried and tested formula of a woman eating the chocolate bar suggestively.
And the You Had Me singer claims she would never have landed the job if she was "stick-thin".
She says, "I think they wanted someone normal - not a model who blatantly doesn’t eat Flakes. I blatantly do - and on a regular basis. I love chocolate.
"I’m not one of those stick-thin girls who survive on just lettuce leaves. I think it’s much more beautiful to have a bit of flesh on you, and much more womanly too." Cadbury launched the chocolate bar in 1920 and the first TV adverts were first shown in 1959.

  • JACKSON: ‘I MISS MY CHILDHOOD’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

JANET JACKSON has hit out at suggestions she had a troubled childhood insisting she misses life as a kid.
Jackson and her superstar siblings were pushed into pursuing singing careers at a young age and she made her first recording when she was 11.
But the star insists she still enjoyed a normal childhood, and pines for the innocence she enjoyed back then.
Jackson tells talk show host Tyra Banks, "I miss being in that moment, being in the now and just having a good time.
"When I can remember those moments… I didn’t have a lot of them, but I remember playing with the friends next door to me. We’d get on top of this brick wall. We’d climb the wall, sit on top of it, (childhood friend) Wendy and myself.
"We’d get these sticks… we’d pretend like we were cooking… with berries".
And Jackson credits her parents with keeping her sane: "We had a lot of chores to do growing up. My parents were very strict and they always let us know that this is God’s doing. And as quickly as you’ve achieved all of this he can and will take it away."

  • BJORK SPEAKS OUT OVER FESTIVAL ROW

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:30 pm

LATEST: Icelandic singer BJORK has waded into the row over her cancelled appearance at a Serbian music festival - insisting she is a singer and "not a politician".
The star was due to perform at Exit in Novi Sad in July (08), but organisers cancelled her appearance shortly after it was reported she had dedicated a track, called Declare Independence, to the Balkan state of Kosovo at a recent show in Tokyo, Japan.
Kosovo recently broke away from Serbian rule after years of turmoil in the region, but Serbia has refused to acknowledge the state’s declaration of independence.
Organiser Bojan Boscovic denied her comments regarding Kosovo were the reason for the cancellation, but the outspoken singer’s management has since insisted it had an email from festival chiefs, stating Bjork had been dropped from the line-up as a result of her political views.
But now Bjork herself has attempted to diffuse the situation - urging people to focus on her music and not her views of the world.
She says, "I would like to put importance on that I am not a politician, I am first and last a musician and, as such, I feel my duty to try to express the whole range of human emotions.
"The urge for declaring independence is just one of them but an important one that we all feel at some times in our lives. This song was written more with the personal in mind but the fact that it has translated to its broadest meaning, the struggle of a suppressed nation, gives me much pleasure.
"I would like to wish all individuals and nations good luck in their battle for independence." The singer also upset Chinese officials on Sunday (02Mar08) when she chanted "Tibet" during the performance of the song at the end of a show in Beijing, China. Tibet is fighting for independence from mainland China.

  • MYSTERY SURROUNDS SWAYZE CANCER BATTLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 7:45 pm

Movie star PATRICK SWAYZE is fighting for his life in a California hospital, if tabloid and internet reports are to be believed.
U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer reports the Ghost star is dying of pancreatic cancer and has been given just five weeks to live if drastic chemotherapy treatment doesn’t work.
But sources close to the actor/dancer insist the story is far from true, and Swayze is at work on a new movie in Los Angeles.
According to the Enquirer, the Dirty Dancing star was reportedly diagnosed with the disease in January (08) and immediately checked into Stanford University’s cancer centre in Palo Alto, California for a gastro-intestinal procedure.
Swayze, 55, is said to have undergone three doses of chemotherapy, which has helped shrink a tumour in his pancreas. But doctors are not optimistic they will kill the cancer.
Reports suggest the star has lost more than 20 pounds (9.07 kilograms) over the last few weeks and has had to resort to a liquid diet, because he’s struggling to keep down solid food.
A source tells the National Enquirer, "He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure." Swayze’s spokesperson has confirmed the actor was "home and happy" after the operation but has refused to comment on the nature of his illness.
And an insider on the set of his unnamed new film tells celebrity blogger Perez Hilton that Swayze appears to be in good health, stating, "Patrick has been at rehearsals for a new cheerleading movie at a Century City studio frequently… and he definitely does not look like he has five more weeks of life left… "I’m not sure of his medical condition, but, if he is gravely ill, he is hiding it very well." Further calls to Swayze’s representatives were not returned by the time WENN went to press. (GES&KL&LR/WN&NE) WENN - BREAKING NEWS - 05 MARCH 2008 —————————————————————-

  • SPRINGER BLASPHEMY CASE THROWN OUT OF COURT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:30 pm

A British TV screening of JERRY SPRINGER - THE OPERA has escaped punishment after High Court judges refused to hear an appeal to prosecute the BBC - over accusations the broadcast contained blasphemy.
Lobby group Christian Voice mounted a campaign in January last year (07) to overturn a ruling which prevented the organisation from taking legal action against the broadcaster.
Stephen Green, of Christian Voice, argued the small screen adaptation of Springer’s controversial talk show "vilified God and the Bible" - and attempted to take legal action against the station’s director general Mark Thompson and the show’s producer Jon Thoday.
The case was refused by the City of Westminster magistrates court, a decision which was upheld by the High Court last December (07). The High Court has now refused to hear Green’s appeal against the ruling, insisting the case "(did) not raise an arguable point of law of general public importance".
Green says, "It brings down the judgement of God on us all." Jerry Springer - The Opera ran in London from 2003 to 2005, and opened in January (08) in New York’s Carnegie Hall, with Harvey Keitel in the lead role.

  • SCREEN ACTORS OFFER STRIKE WAIVER TO INDEPENDENT FILMS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:27 pm

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has offered independent film production companies a waiver from a looming strike.
Actors belonging to the organisation are threatening walkouts in June (08) if talks between the union and major film studios fail to resolve a dispute over pay and conditions.
But the SAG has now announced that independent moviemakers will receive guaranteed-completion contractions to ensure projects due to go into production this summer (08) will go ahead.
To qualify for the waiver, film companies must not have a financing or distribution deal with any of the major studios who are members of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
Doug Allen, SAG’s national executive director and chief negotiator, confirmed the move.
He tells U.S. publications the Hollywood Reporter, "We are pleased to offer guaranteed completion contracts to independent producers who are such an important source of employment for actors. These (contracts) will allow independent producers to continue their work and continue to generate job opportunities for our members even as AMPTP employers decide unilaterally whether or when to green light new theatrical productions." The union has set a 30 June (08) deadline - the day their current contract expires - for negotiations to be resolved. If the strike goes ahead it could put hundreds of major film and TV projects under threat.
