LATEST: Rockers VAN HALEN have hit back at reports they’re cancelling the remainder of their reunion tour.
The band rescheduled two concerts in Virginia and Georgia at the end of last month (Feb08), prompting internet reports claiming all tour dates had been pulled indefinitely.
But sources within Van Halen tell Billboard.com the band’s tour is not being cancelled, although Monday night’s (03Mar08) concert in Dallas, Texas has been postponed.
And three other upcoming dates have also been postponed while guitarist Eddie Van Halen undergoes medical tests. The tour will resume on 11 March (08).
A statement from Van Halen’s management reads: "Eddie is undergoing a battery of comprehensive medical tests to determine a defined diagnosis and recommended medical procedures." Van Halen has famously battled cancer and substance abuse in recent years. No specific details about his medical tests were available."

Rockers NINE INCH NAILS are giving their new album away to fans who visit their website.
Ghost I-IV, a 36-track instrumental LP, is available for download and as a physical copy.
Fans can download a nine-track version for free; pay $5 (£2.50) for the whole album; $10 (£5) for a two CD set; $75 (£37.50) for a deluxe version; or $300 (£150) for a limited edition album numbered and signed by frontman Trent Reznor.
The band made the album available on Monday (3Mar08) and NIN.com has been bombarded with hits, grinding it to a virtual halt.
The move follows in the footsteps of Radiohead, who last year (07) allowed fans to chose how much they paid to download their latest album In Rainbows.
It also comes just four months after Nine Inch Nails were forced to scrap plans for an official website to showcase fans’ remixes of their songs, because the band’s former record company refused to have any involvement in the project.
Reznor hoped to create a site where their devotees could listen to new tracks from the band’s forthcoming remix album - but his plans had to be halted as Universal Records are currently locked in a legal battle with video-sharing sites YouTube and MySpace for breach of copyright.
Universal, which owns the rights to Nine Inch Nails’ material, is suing internet giants Google - owners of YouTube - and MySpace’s parent company News Corp. for allegedly allowing copyrighted videos and music to be uploaded onto their sites.
The ongoing legal wrangling means Reznor has been banned from creating his own site to share songs with fans because it could prove to be detrimental to the case.

Rocker SCOTT WEILAND has been discharged from a rehab treatment centre after a 28-day stay.
The singer, who fronts both Velvet Revolver and the reformed Stone Temple Pilots, is "doing well", his attorney Tony Brooklier tells website TMZ.com.
Weiland has a long history of drink and drug problems which have culminated in convictions for driving under the influence (DUI) and buying crack cocaine.
The singer also faces fresh DUI charges after he was arrested in November (07), following an accident on a California highway.
Reformed band Stone Temple Pilots will play their first show in almost seven years at the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio this May (08).
The singer’s other band, Velvet Revolver, was forced to scrap a series of shows to allow Weiland time to concentrate on rehab.

COLIN FARRELL has found a healthy addiction to replace drink and drugs - he’s hooked on Russian steam baths.
The Irish actor discovered a New York bathhouse near his bachelor pad in the city’s East Village, and now hunts out hotspots wherever he is in the world.
Farrell, 31, says, "There’s something very basic about rubbing honey on your skin and going steaming with a bunch of strange Russian men."

KID ROCK has pleaded not guilty to a battery charge following a fight in a Waffle House last year (07).
The star and five members of his entourage were arrested for misdemeanour battery after a brawl in an Atlanta restaurant in October following a concert in the area.
Rock - whose real name is Robert James Ritchie - wasn’t at the DeKalb County State Court.
His lawyer Darryl Cohen waived an arraignment hearing and entered a not guilty plea on the 37-year-old’s behalf.

Singer PAULA ABDUL has been snubbed by music channel MTV - after it refused to play her new single DANCE LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW.
The American Idol judge shot to fame in the late 1980’s with exceptional dance routines to tunes including Straight Up and Opposites Attract. And despite fellow Idol judge Randy Jackson pitching in ideas for the video, critics have branded Abdul’s dance routines "recycled", following its premiere on the talent show last month (Feb08).
An MTV spokesman tells MSNBC.com, "There are currently no plans to play the video."

Hollywood star SHIA LaBEOUF credits KEANU REEVES and WILL SMITH with teaching him how to deal with the high-pressure workload which comes with spearheading a movie.
LaBeouf has heavily criticised his performances alongside Smith and Reeves in 2004’s I, Robot and 2005’s Constantine, respectively - and admits he made a huge mistake signing up for the supporting roles.
However, LaBeouf has no regrets - because his A-list co-stars have helped to prepare him for life as the "number one" on set.
He tells Britain’s Empire magazine, "I’m not that proud of those performances, by any means. When I look back on things I’ve done, those seem like mistakes. But they were correct choices at the time.
"I got to watch Will Smith and Keanu Reeves carry movies on their backs. It was a huge learning curve, on discovering how to deal with being that guy on set. There’s a lot more that comes with being number one on the call-sheet than promoting the film and acting in it.
"I studied how those guys handled the crew, how they turned up on set, the way they never got sick."

Actress KATE HUDSON has taken a swipe at Hollywood rival KATHERINE HEIGL, by pretending she has never heard of the KNOCKED UP star.
Heigl is the biggest new star of the past year, thanks to roles in the pregnancy comedy, romantic movie 27 Dresses as well as her ongoing part in hospital drama series Grey’s Anatomy.
But, when asked what she thought of the bright new star, Oscar-nominee Hudson feigned ignorance.
She told Elle magazine,* "Who is she?… Oh, that girl in 27 Dresses? I just don’t think about that stuff."

Director ELI ROTH has vowed to "hit the botox" after LINDSAY LOHAN rejected him for being too old.
The 35-year-old was stunned to find himself and a pal being checked out by the starlet and her friend during a night out in Beverly Hills.
But he was disheartened when Lohan cast him aside because of their 14-year age difference.
He writes on his blog, "I was having drinks with a friend at the Beverly Hills Hotel the other night, and Lindsay Lohan walked by our booth with a girlfriend, checking us out. She then went out to the bathroom, turned around, came back and walked by us again, and mumbled to her friend ‘too old,’ and kept walking.
"Now - she’s absolutely correct - but it was still pretty f**king hilarious.
Especially since we were in the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel - where the average age is 97. If you look too old in there you’re f**ked! Time to hit the Botox.

U.S. TV network ABC is developing a reality competition based on the hit Disney film franchise HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.
Aspiring performers will audition in a nationwide talent search, with successful contestants studying at a music conservatory to hone their talents and competing weekly until a winner is chosen. The series’ top prize has not yet been revealed.
ABC is aiming for a summer airing date for the multi-episode High School Musical reality series.

PATRICIA ARQUETTE has banned her five-year-old daughter from becoming a child actress, because she fears exposing the tot to the "dangerous, weird world" of Hollywood.
Harlow Olivia Calliope spends time with Arquette on the set of her TV show Medium, but the actress is careful to protect her daughter with the help of actor husband Thomas Jane.
She says, "It’s dangerous for kids to be part of what is, in truth, a weird world, where all our needs are met, where there’s always someone to give you clothes, get you a doughnut, get you anything.
"You see it with lots of actors who become self-indulgent. A parent must be cautious."

JASON STATHAM was visited on the set of THE BANK JOB, by one of the perpetrators of the real-life heist the movie was based on.
The Brit plays the member of a gang who robbed a central London bank in 1971.
None of the thieves were ever arrested and the stolen money was never recovered.
The British Government also banned the media from reporting on the case prompting conspiracy theorists to speculate the authorities were hiding something.
But Statham’s research into the role was made easier, thanks to a mysterious on-set visit.
The actor reveals, "We were very lucky. One of the chaps came to the set. We tried to keep his identity undercover. He didn’t want to glamorise himself. A lot of people thought he was my dad coming for a set visit. Remarkably he looked a lot like me.
"He told us some great stories about the day."

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES creator MARC CHERRY is keen to make a Broadway spin off of the hit series - according to actor KYLE McLACHLAN.
The star, who plays Bree (Marcia Cross)’s boyfriend Orson Hodges in the hit U.S. TV show, insists Cherry has been dropping hints about a possible musical adaptation.
He tells British radio station Heart, "I think it is a great idea. It makes sense. Mark has said that when he finishes his seven years at ABC he plans to go to Broadway and move into the musical world so maybe he does have some designs in that way. That’s all he’s said so far." And McLachan won’t rule out an appearance in a possible musical version of the show.
He adds, "You never know. It could happen. Never say never right? There is more chance of that than seeing me in a Twin Peaks musical."

THE CARDIGANS frontwoman NINA PERSSON has ruled out a collaboration with legendary rocker NEIL YOUNG, fearing she’d lose control of her bowels if she ever met her hero.
The Lovefool singer has pledged never to work in the studio with any of her musical idols, because the enormity of such an event would make her "freak out".

Death metal band DEICIDE have topped a new list of bands whose music is played to military prisoners in Iraq.
The Florida group finished ahead of AC/DC, Eminem and Metallica on the list, compiled by magazine Mother Jones, from reports, interrogation logs and personal accounts.
Deicide drummer Steve Asheim says of the accolade, "It’s cool. If we’re up to military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like Deicide’s doing our part for the troops."

EAST 17 star BRIAN HARVEY has been banned from driving - after he was found guilty of a speeding offence.
The British singer was found by police officers to be travelling over 138 miles per hour (222 kilometres per hour) in the south of England last May (08).
Harvey denied the offence, claiming police stopped the wrong car after losing it in a chase. He also alleged the patrolmen were lying, and had defective eyesight.
But the pop star was found guilty of speeding, and was banned from driving for 180 days, given a $300 (£150) fine and ordered to pay $480 (£240) in court costs.
Harvey says, "The magistrates were very lenient and I appreciate that."

QUINCY JONES’ actress daughter RASHIDA is planning to follow in the family business and record an album of her own material.
The star of TV comedy The Office has already provided backing vocals for Maroon 5 and is keen to record some of her solo material.
But she insists she has no intention of ever releasing an LP - she wants to make music only for her own pleasure.
Jones, 32, says, "I wouldn’t want to be part of the music business, but I love making music with friends. One day I will absolutely hunker down for six months and record something, even if it’s just for myself. I think about that a lot."

PINK FLOYD guitarist DAVID GILMOUR has hit out at protesters campaigning against the launch of his homeless housing charity, blaming local residents for the project’s failure.
The 61-year-old had sold his west London home for $7.2 million (£3.6 million) in order to fund Urban Village, which aimed to create affordable apartments for homeless people in the British capital.
But the rocker’s plans have been thwarted by locals opposed to the opening of a site.
He says, "Obviously this is a disappointment but I am determined to make a success of the Urban Village project here in London and to continue to work with (U.K. homelessness charity) Crisis to bring real change to the lives of homeless people."
