LATEST: British royal PRINCE HARRY has been pulled out of Afghanistan, after it emerged he had been fighting on the army front line for the last 10 weeks.
The 23-year-old, who is third in line to the throne, was deployed to the war-torn country late last year (07) but the British government issued a media blackout on the situation to avoid any potential kidnap plots involving the young royal.
But news of the prince’s front line service was leaked by foreign media on Thursday (28Feb08), forcing the Ministry of Defence to issue a statement admitting the reports.
The prince was due to remain in Afghanistan until April (08), but will now return to the U.K. because his cover has been blown.
A new statement released by the Ministry of Defence on Friday (29Feb08) says, "Following a detailed assessment of the risks by the operational chain of command, the decision has been taken … to withdraw Prince Harry from Afghanistan immediately.
"This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier." The media blackout was flouted by various news outlets in countries like Australia and the U.S.

LATEST: Tragic actor JOHN RITTER feared he had fallen victim to a serious bout of food poisoning on the day he died, according to a phone message that was played at his wrongful death trial in California.
As part of his widow Amy Yasbeck’s testimony on Friday (29Feb08), Ritter was heard warning his wife that he was feeling unwell in a message he left just before he was taken to hospital from the set of sitcom 8 Simple Rules… For Dating My Teenage Daughter.
In the message, Ritter said, "Hi honey, this is John. I’m in my dressing room and not feeling very well. I think I have food poisoning. They’re going to call a doctor to look at me." A tearful Yasbeck told the court Ritter called back, and warned her he’d probably have to miss an event at his daughter’s school that evening - because his condition had taken a turn for the worse.
She added, "He called back and said, ‘Now I’m having chest pains and the nurse is coming and they’re going to take me across the street.’" Actress Yasbeck - who wed Ritter in 1999, ten years after working with him on comedy movie Problem Child - also told the jury her husband worked hard at staying in shape: "It came up all the time. He always wanted to lose weight. He worked out a lot." Ritter’s widow and his eldest children are suing two doctors for $67 million (£33.5 million) for misdiagnosing the torn aorta that killed the comic actor in September 2003, at the age of 54.
Yasbeck is expected to resume her testimony on Monday (03Mar08). The trial continues.

Actors WILL FERRELL and WOODY HARRELSON never felt threatened by rapper ANDRE 3000’s basketball skills on the set of SEMI-PRO - because he’s hopeless at the sport.
The new comedy movie - about the owner of a basketball team who rallies his troops to help them realise their NBA dreams - called on the three stars to put their athletic abilities into practice.
However, any fears Andre 3000 would overawe his castmates on the court quickly evaporated when it became obvious he was the worst player on set.
He tells MTV.com, "To be honest, I’m probably the worst player out (there).
"I mean, I’m quick, I can dribble, I can move around. I just have never sat down and gotten my shot together. But I can go to the hole pretty good!"

Soul singer ANGIE STONE is urging African-Americans to get tested for diabetes - because it is one of the most serious health challenges facing the black community. The 47-year-old, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes eight years ago, has teamed up with Eli Lilly & Co. on the F.A.C.E. (Fearless African-Americans Connected and Empowered) Diabetes Campaign to advocate screenings for the disease, which affects more than 3 million African-Americans in the U.S., according to the American Diabetes Association.
And she insists it is vital people get the symptoms diagnosed early before it is too late.
She says, "Eight years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes after I started experiencing a few common symptoms associated with high blood sugar - including frequent urination and excessive thirst. I couldn’t stop going to the bathroom, and no matter how much water I drank, I couldn’t get enough.
"Despite having a family history of the disease, my diagnosis came as a shock because I didn’t think I was a candidate for diabetes. Even after I was diagnosed and my doctor prescribed medication, I didn’t truly take the disease as seriously as I should have. I was in denial about my condition and the importance of taking my medication, changing my diet and getting more exercise."

LATEST: British singer LEE RYAN will stand trial in relation to a New Year’s Eve (31Dec07) scuffle with a taxi driver.
The former Blue star, 24, is accused of attacking a man following a minor traffic incident in Surrey, England.
He was charged with common assault earlier this month (13Feb08) after turning himself in to authorities at Reigate police station.
At a hearing at Redhill Magistrates’ Court in Surrey on Friday (29Feb08), Ryan entered a plea of not guilty, but was ordered by the judge to stand trial.
He is due back in court on 7 May (08) for the start of the trial.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY is pregnant with her first child with husband MICHAEL LOCKWOOD, according to reports.
The 40-year-old daughter of late rock legend Elvis Presley conceived two months ago, friends tell the National Enquirer.
A pal tells the tabloid it’s Presley’s second pregnancy since she married musical director Lockwood in 2006, but she suffered a miscarriage.
The friend says, "She’s two months pregnant. We’re praying Lisa makes it all the way.
"Lisa says another child will make her life with Michael complete. Right after her miscarriage, she and Michael began trying again to have a baby." Presley has two teenage children from her marriage to Danny Keogh: Riley, 18 and 15-year-old Benjamin.

UGLY BETTY actor ALAN DALE has launched a vicious attack on the TV show that propelled him to stardom in his native Australia, branding its producers "greedy and nasty".
Dale shot to prominence in Aussie soap opera Neighbours, but he quit in 1992 after seven years of clashing with tyrannical programme-makers.
And the actor fears its current cast and crew members will be suffering under the same oppressive regime.
He says, "The show I loved. It was sweet and the people I worked with were sweet, most of them. But the producers were greedy and nasty. There are many examples of the things these people did and, as far as I know, are still doing.
"When you live in a country where there is not much else to do as an actor, there isn’t much choice but to put up with it. But I used to fight them all the time, which is one of the reasons we parted company."

Veteran actress KATHLEEN TURNER has sparked fears for her health after reportedly collapsing at a rehearsal for the off-Broadway, New York stage show she’s directing.
The Body Heat star, 53, stunned the cast and crew of play Crimes Of The Heart when she passed out mid-scene at the Laura Pels Theatre, according to the New York Daily News.
A source says, "She had to be helped home." Turner suffered with alcohol abuse in the past before entering rehab after passing out drunk on stage during a 2002 Broadway performance of The Graduate.
However, a theatre source has quashed concerns Turner has returned to the bottle during rehearsals for Crimes Of The Heart, insisting, "I’ve never seen her drink at theatre." Turner has won high critical praise for her direction of the southern drama about the funny/sad relationships among sisters.

The movie studio which has produced film franchises like THE LORD OF THE RINGS and AUSTIN POWERS has merged with screen giants Warner Brothers.
New Line Cinema CEOs Bob Shye and Michael Lynne left the company on Thursday (28Feb08) - as the 40-year-old studio was absorbed as a unit of Warner Bros.
Time Warner chief Jeff Bewkes, New Line’s corporate overlord, signaled the move might be likely earlier this month (Feb08) - but the news was broken in a memo to distraught employees shortly before an announcement to the press on Thursday (28Feb08), reports the New York Daily News.
New Line Cinema’s releases will now be scaled back to focus on making the kind of smaller, low-cost horror and comedy pictures upon which it built its name.
Shye says, "(New Line) will probably be a much smaller operation than in the past.
"This is, of course, a very difficult and emotional time for all of us."

The driver who allegedly raced HULK HOGAN’s son on the night he crashed and seriously injured a man has been sentenced and fined in a Florida court.
Daniel Jacobs, 22, has been ordered to serve 90 days probation and 25 hours of community service for the part he played in an incident which left Nick Bollea’s passenger and close friend John Graziano in a coma, suffering from permanent brain damage.
Jacobs - who took the wheel of Hulk Hogan’s Dodge Viper vehicle - was accused of racing Nick in his Toyota Supra on a Clearwater, Florida road in August (07) before the wrestler’s son lost control and hit a palm tree.
Graziano remains in a coma.
Jacobs admitted he was driving the Viper but denied he was racing Hogan. As well as his probation and community service sentence, Jacobs lost his licence for 90 days and was ordered to pay a $500 (£250) fine.
Hogan’s son Bollea is due in court on 14 April (08).

Comedienne ELLEN DeGENERES has hit out at homophobic people while presenting her talk show - because she has been deeply affected by the murder of teenager LAWRENCE KING.
The openly-gay Academy Award winner was close to tears on Thursday’s (28Feb08) show as she told viewers about the death of the 15-year-old, who was shot in the head at the E.O. Green School in Oxnard, California, on 12 February (08) - reportedly for being a homosexual.
King’s killer, 14-year-old Brandon McInerney, apparently targeted the student because he asked him to be his date for St. Valentine’s Day (14Feb08).
DeGeneres says, "Larry was not a second class citizen and I am not a second class citizen. It’s OK to be gay." It’s possible that McInerney - who has been charged with murder and the commission of a hate crime - will be tried as an adult, which means he could face 50 years to life in prison if convicted.

OUTKAST rapper ANDRE 3000 is heading into the studio to record his debut solo album.
The Hey Ya! singer has focused his efforts on his movie career over the past couple of years - with star turns in such films as Be Cool, Four Brothers and Revolver.
But Andre 3000 is eager to get back into music - as soon as his promotional duties for new Will Ferrell-starring comedy Semi-Pro come to an end.
He tells MTV.com, "After I finish promoting Semi-Pro, I’m going to the studio and kind of staying in there for a while. I’ll bang out something!" OutKast released their last album Speakerboxx/The Love Below in 2003. The double disc featured solo albums from both Big Boi and Andre 3000, but was released under the OutKast banner.
Andre 3000’s solo LP is expected to hit music store shelves later this year (08).

PUSSYCAT DOLLS singer CARMIT BACHAR has reportedly quit the group.
The sexy girl band member has walked out on the hitmakers to "pursue other projects", according to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.
Sources insist the band will not be replacing Bachar - who was the only original member of the Los Angeles burlesque dance troupe from which the group was formed - and will carry on as a five-piece.

Hip-hop star CA$HIS has threatened to beat up fellow rapper ROYCE DA 5′9" for making derogatory comments about EMINEM.
Ca$his, a recording artist on Eminem’s own Shady Records label, made the comments in an Internet video originally posted on YouTube.com, in which he threatens to physically hurt the MC for referring to the Without Me hitmaker as a "white cracker". The YouTube footage has subsequently been removed, but remains online on various other websites.
In the video, Ca$his tells Royce, "You spoke on (Eminem). You called my man a white cracker and you can’t take that back.
"So I’m not going to go line for line with you, even though I will burn your bitch ass. When I see you, I’m going to beat the s**t out of you." But Ca$his, real name Ramone Johnson, insists his comments are not intended to instigate a rivalry - it is just to defend his close friend.
His video rant continues, "To all my fans out there and the people that aren’t my fans… I’m not starting a beef. I’m really not trying to begin a hip-hop beef. This man called my boss, my brother, a person that saved my life that saved my children… a cracker." Former pals Royce and Eminem fell out in 2002 over the Slim Shady star’s close alliance with his group D12. The dispute led to pair taking swipes at one another in various songs, including Royce’s mixtape track F**k Eminem & D12.

Further questions over MICHAEL JACKSON’s financial situation have been raised after documents showing the star has repeatedly failed to pay the mortgage for his Los Angeles home emerged.
The star is devastated over the planned sale of his old Neverland Ranch home in California, the proceeds of which will be used to settle $24.5 million (£12.25 million) worth of debt he owes Financial Title Company, the trustees of the estate, unless he can come up with the money himself.
But documents filed with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office have shown the singer has defaulted on his mortgage payments on his San Fernando property, with $153,910 (£76,955) in missed payments on a $4 million (£2 million) loan as of 17 January (08).
However, the notice of default was withdrawn on 7 February (08).
The documents also show Jackson faced possible default over missed payments on the property - which has been used for years by the Jackson family - in April and August last year (07).
Neverland will be sold at auction on 19 March (08) unless Jackson’s debts are settled. The star is reported to have taken out a loan to save the property.
