RADIOHEAD RULE OUT GLASTONBURY FOR ECOLOGICAL REASONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:18 pm

Green rockers RADIOHEAD have ruled out performing at the Glastonbury Festival in Britain this year (08) because poor public transport to the event is bad for the environment.
Frontman Thom Yorke is concerned that most people attending the event, which takes place in England’s rural south-west in June (08), drive there "with one or two people in a car".
And Yorke claims such a transport situation is "an ecological disaster".
In an article published by British newspaper The Sun, he writes, "(We’re doing) everything we can to minimise our impact on the environment…
"What we’re trying to do now is only play in areas that have a public transport infrastructure in place. So that rules out Glastonbury for this year.
Maybe we can work out a plan for the future." On Wednesday (27Feb08), Yorke gave a speech at the European Union’s headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, urging leaders to drastically cut carbon emissions by 2020.
He said, "If we don’t get stuck in now, in 20 years’ time it will be worse and things will be more extreme."
