McAVOY’S DAD ‘HEARTBROKEN’ BY ESTRANGEMENT
The father of Scottish actor JAMES McAVOY is devastated he is still estranged from his famous son.
James McAvoy senior split from his former wife when the Atonement star was a child and hasn’t spoken to his son in 20 years, insisting the star refused to see him as he was growing up.
But the movie star’s father is hopeful of a reconciliation with the 28-year-old, who is presenting an award at Sunday’s (24Feb08) Oscars ceremony.
He says, "It’s been hard not being in his life. I hope one day he’ll get in touch. I don’t want anything from him.
"If the day dawned when he wanted to get to know me that would be amazing."
