Supermodel KATE MOSS has donated a damaged Christian Dior dress to a charity auction aimed at raising funds for cancer research.
The catwalk beauty has handed her once-prized evening gown to her pal James Brown - who has organised the auction for Cancer Research U.K.
The item comes with a backside-exposing tear, as captured on paparazzi cameras last September (07) as Moss left a London party. The infamous photos have helped make the glamorous frock a collector’s item.

Veteran actress RUBY DEE was stunned when she received an Oscar nomination because she grew up believing African-Americans would never be considered for such awards.
The 83-year-old was shocked last month (22Jan08) when she was named a Best Supporting Actress nominee for her role in American Gangster, having spent her younger years in an industry that failed to recognise the work of its black actors.
She tells the New York Post’s gossip column PageSix, "I’ve never been nominated for an Oscar before. I’ve never even been to the Oscars before. "I’ve been around forever… When I began, black people weren’t considered mainstream enough for an Oscar.

THE MATRIX villain HUGO WEAVING is to join BENICIO DEL TORO and SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS in the star-studded new remake of THE WOLFMAN.
The Australian actor will play Detective Aberline in the movie, which will begin shooting in London next month (Mar08).
Emily Blunt has also joined the cast. Del Toro will play the hirsute title character and Hopkins his father.

Actor RYAN GOSLING became emotionally attached to a silicone sex doll on the set of his latest film LARS AND THE REAL GIRL.
The Notebook star plays socially dysfunctional Lars Lindstrom, who falls for a sex doll he buys off of the Internet, and the actor insists he can relate to his character.
The 27-year-old claims he developed a "real connection" to the doll, called Bianca, and even began to find her attractive during filming.

Former LOST star DOMINIC MONAGHAN is set to return to his adopted LORD OF THE RINGS home, New Zealand, after signing up to join the all-star cast of X-MEN spin-off WOLVERINE.
The British actor will play the electrifying Barnell in the new movie, which stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Shreiber and Ryan Reynolds.
Monaghan’s casting comes just days after Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am announced he’d be taking part in the sci-fi action prequel.

Director ROLAND EMMERICH has hit out at actor-turned-director MEL GIBSON’s movie APOCALYPTO, labelling it one dimensional.
Emmerich and Gibson worked together on The Patriot eight years ago (00) - but the longtime filmmaker has been less than flattering about the star’s attempts at directing since.
The 52-year-old has just finished working on mythical odyssey 10,000 BC and critics have been quick to compare his movie to Gibson’s Mayan bloodbath.
However, the director insists his film is much better.
He says, "I liked Apocalypto. But all that I saw was jungle and some pyramids. I was hoping to see the decline of a civilisation and that story was not really told. You get that with this movie."

Fans of AS THE WORLD TURNS have launched a campaign against the U.S. soap opera, claiming the producers portray a pair of gay lovers differently than heterosexual couples on the show.
In a recent Valentine’s Day (14Feb08) episode of the show, gay couple Luke and Noah were the only two characters who didn’t kiss - prompting fans to protest the restriction on physical contact between the pair, who have only been showed hugging since they got together last September (07).
But Damon Romine of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD) has commended the show for its "thoughtful writing of both characters’ individual journeys", noting that "Luke and Noah’s relationship is the first gay male love story portrayed on daytime in 60 years".
Jeannie Tharrington, a spokeswoman for As The World Turns, says, "Everybody at (the show) is committed to this groundbreaking story line.
"(Since it started) we’ve heard from a lot of people - some of whom like it, some of whom don’t. We want to tell the story the best way we can, and also want to be respectful of all the people who watch the show."

Oscar-nominee DIABLO CODY will look like a million dollars when she steps out on the red carpet at the Academy Awards on Sunday (24Feb08) - literally.
The Juno writer, a former stripper, has been chosen to wear footwear designer Stuart Weitzman’s million dollar shoe to the big event at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
The ‘Retro Rose’ shoe features two Kwiat diamond roses, fixed to 1940s-style beige metallic T-strap high heels.
More than 1,800 Kwiat diamonds weighing 100 carats were used to make the roses and 400 of them have been incorporated into the design of the shoe, which is worth over $1 million (£500,000).
Shoe mogul Weitzman has also created a ballerina flat with a similar diamond-like design, which Cody will change into after she walks the red carpet and kicks off her high heels.
This is the first time Weitzman has created a changeover pair of shoes with a matching design element for use at the Academy Awards.
He says, "I think it is great and typically Diablo that she chose to be not just glamorous but also practical in her choice of shoes for this year’s Academy Awards."

LATEST: TV stuntman JOHNNY KNOXVILLE is recovering from surgery after having his genitals stitched up.
The Jackass star was attempting to replicate late daredevil Evel Knievel’s famous motorcycle backflip in Oklahoma at the weekend (17Feb08) when he landed awkwardly.
Knoxville was taken to a nearby hospital, but the cuts, swelling and bruising were so severe medics couldn’t operate on him immediately.
In a phone interview with blogger Marc Malkin just 10 minutes after surgery on Thursday (21Feb08), Knoxville said, "I’m still a little groggy from the anaesthesia. I just got the catheter out, and the doctor said I can resume normal functions immediately-like, manly functions." But Knoxville fears he’ll have nightmares about the painful accident for years to come.
He adds, "I was trying to backflip a motorcycle. The bike goes up about 15, 20 feet in the air and comes back down and breaks its handlebar off in between my legs. I was laying there spreadeagle.
"They’ve never seen handlebars break off before-much less between someone’s legs." Knoxville tore his urethra in the accident, which will be broadcast on MTV in America this weekend (23Feb08), when the prankster and his crew of stunt pals take over the network for 24 hours to launch their new JackassWorld.com website.

A Finnish man who mocked rockers SLASH, METALLICA and STEVE VAI by posting poorly dubbed re-recordings over actual footage of them online has been accused of copyright infringement. Guitarist Santeri Ojala had his YouTube.com account closed down following a series of complaints about the videos which poke fun at his musical heroes.
Ojala is disappointed the stars he mocked took his homemade recordings seriously - insisting he never meant to cause offence.
He says, "In a nutshell, YouTube yanked the plug after someone pushed the ‘complain here’ button. For some reason, a couple of artists - or rather their management - have complained to YouTube about the videos and had them taken down.
"The reasons are unclear to me because I haven’t directly heard from the artist that had their videos removed."

The validity of the marriage between the duke’s grandparents has been brought into question after notes from a 1955 British government cabinet meeting detailing the revelation, which was initially covered-up, were released.
The documents concern the government’s discussion over a court case involving Prince Ernest of Hanover, a distant German cousin of Prince Philip and his now wife Queen Elizabeth, who wanted British citizenship.
During the case it emerged Philip’s grandmother Britain’s Princess Victoria and her German fiancé Prince Louis of Battenberg had not sought royal approval for their 1884 marriage from the ruling monarch, who at that time was Queen Victoria.
Under the British Royal Marriages Act of 1772 this meant the union was legally void, rendering their daughter Princess Alice illegitimate.
Minutes of the meeting, which were later censored, document the then British Prime Minister Winston Churchill telling ministers: ‘This does not affect the Duke of Edinburgh, but his mother.’ The minutes then note Home Secretary Gwilym Lloyd George’s fears.
He said: ‘Doubt will be cast on validity of the marriage of Prince Philip’s grandparents Prince Louis of Battenberg (who later changed his family name to Mountbatten) and Princess Victoria, a favourite grandchild of Queen Victoria.’ The notes were taken by Sir Norman Brook, the cabinet secretary, and have now been published on the UK’s National Archives website.
