SIMPSON TO STAR IN NEW REALITY TV SHOW?

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:09 pm

Singer JESSICA SIMPSON is in talks to star in a new reality TV show that will document the recording of her next LP.
The 27-year-old has been in the studio recording her upcoming country LP and her father/manager Joe Simpson insists she is eager to share the process with Country Music Television (CMT) viewers.
He explains, "With Newlyweds, she let everyone into her world. Then she had to shut the world out. "Now she can open it up again so people can see, here’s a girl struggling with self-esteem and finding her way. Country music is about storytelling, after all." But a representative for the star explains tells UsMagazine.com the project is "not for a reality show. Jessica is finishing her country album in Nashville. They’re in talks with CMT for a special timed to air when the album is released, but there’s no truth whatsoever to there being a reality show." Simpson became a household name in 2003 after taking part in MTV’s hit reality series Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica with her then-husband, singer Nick Lachey. The pair divorced in 2006 after the fourth season of the programme aired.

STEEL ADVISES SPEARS’ PARENTS TO SEEK FURTHER TREATMENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:06 pm

Novelist DANIELLE STEEL is urging the parents of troubled star BRITNEY SPEARS to keep seeking mental health treatment for their daughter - or her psychiatric problems may end her life.
The author’s own son Nick Traina was diagnosed at 16 with bipolar disorder, a condition that propelled him into a deep depression leading to his suicide in 1997, aged just 19.
And Steel believes Spears - who was placed on psychiatric evaluation at a Los Angeles hospital last month (Jan08) but released just six days later - may also suffer from the debilitating illness.
She says, "I feel so sorry for her. If it is the case (that she has bipolar), she can get on track with the right treatment and medication.
"In the case of Britney Spears’ parents what you have to be is extremely loving, extremely resourceful and extremely persistent and every time you’re defeated, just go at the problem again." And the romance writer is also calling for the U.S. laws to be changed to allow mentally ill patients to be committed against their will: "Usually bipolars present extremely well and they can bounce into court … look very together and be a complete mess three hours later on the streets somewhere.
There’s nothing you (as a parent) can do."

AUSTRALIAN TOURISM BOSSES EYE ALI G

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:06 pm

Tourism chiefs in Australia want to recruit SACHA BARON COHEN’s comic creation ALI G in their latest advertising campaign - and hope the tracksuited character will convince Britons to move Down Under.
South Australia agent Bill Muirhead this week (ends15Feb08) launched a campaign to urge Brits to consider emigrating to state capital Adelaide; citing commuter town Staines - Ali G’s hometown - as a reason to escape the United Kingdom.
And Muirhead hopes Baron Cohen’s character and his links to the area - which is just outside London - will help promote the project.
In a letter to the star’s representatives, Muirhead writes, "I understand you represent Sacha Baron Cohen and we would be very keen to talk to you about his character Ali G." However the plans to recruit Baron Cohen could be doomed to fail - after the actor announced in December (07) the Ali G character was retiring indefinitely.

HANKS & CLOONEY WARN OF POTENTIAL ACTORS STRIKE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:06 pm

TOM HANKS and GEORGE CLOONEY have warned an actors strike is a possibility if upcoming talks between the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the movie studios aren’t successful.
In a letter published in Friday’s (15Feb08) edition of the Los Angeles Times, the pair calls for talks to begin as soon as possible to maximise the chances of averting a walk-out.
SAG members will reportedly strike this summer (08) after their current contract expires on 30 June if negotiations with studio bosses over pay and conditions do not prove fruitful.
But Hanks and Clooney are hopeful a strike can be avoided.
They write: "A strike by the actors is certainly a possibility this summer, but is by no means inevitable.
"Talks between the producers and actors should begin as soon as possible so that those negotiations will produce the fair, progressive and responsible contract the actors deserve.
"Perhaps then out town (Hollywood) - and everyone in the business of show will be spared another work stop-page." Hanks and Clooney’s call comes just days after Writers Guild Of America (WGA) members voted to end a three-month strike, which crippled the American TV and movie industries, over internet royalties.

LING: ‘BREAK-UP CAUSED SHOPLIFTING’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:03 pm

Chinese movie star BAI LING has blamed her recent arrest for shoplifting on ‘boyfriend troubles’.
The Crow actress was arrested on Wednesday (13Feb08) after allegedly walking into a terminal gift shop in Los Angeles International Airport - taking two celebrity magazines and a pack of batteries without paying for her goods worth just $16 (£8).
But Ling insists the episode was just part of a "crazy day", telling E! News the shoplifting was caused by her having to cope with the "huge problem of breaking up with her boyfriend (before) Valentine’s Day (14Feb08)." Ling, 37, was reportedly on her way to Albuquerque in New Mexico to work on new movie Love Ranch, co-starring Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.

INDIANA JONES TRAILER A HIT WITH FANS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:03 pm

The first footage of new INDIANA JONES movie THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL has won critical acclaim - just days after it was released online.
A trailer for the fourth outing for the intrepid archeologist - which shows clips of the first three films before cutting to star Harrison Ford swinging his bullwhip - has garnered praise from film fans across the world since it was made available earlier this week (ends15Feb08).
One blogger writes, "As soon as the John Williams’ Raiders overture kicks in, you cannot suppress a nostalgic smile. Aside from bits of obvious CGI trickery, the trailer is nearly a note-perfect recreation of Indy’s past adventures." Fans have also praised Harrison Ford’s return as Indiana Jones - insisting the 65-year-old’s age makes no difference to the role he last played 18 years ago.
The hotly-anticipated movie is slated for a May (08) release.

SCHOLZ: ‘I DON’T WANT A HUCKABEE LINK’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:00 pm

BOSTON rocker TOM SCHOLZ has hit out at presidential hopeful MIKE HUCKABEE for using his biggest hit in an election campaign.
Rocker Scholz is furious Huckabee is using his 1970s smash hit song More Than a Feeling without his permission - because he disagrees with his political stance.
Scholz’s former bandmate Barry Goudreau has appeared with the Republican candidate at various campaign events around the U.S. - playing the song with Mr Huckabee’s band Capitol Offense.
Scholz says, "Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect, would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar opposite of most everything Boston stands for.
"By using my song, and my band’s name Boston, you have taken something of mine and used it to promote ideas to which I am opposed. In other words, I think I’ve been ripped off, dude."

RONSON: "I’M MAKING NO MONEY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:00 pm

Music producer MARK RONSON has been warned by his manager to cut back on his huge entourage - because he is not making enough money to keep them on tour.
Despite being among this year’s Grammy winners with his own gong for Producer Of The Year the Valerie hitmaker is failing to make money from touring.
But Ronson is putting his lack of earnings down to the fact that he brings too many friends on tour with him - which is clawing away at his profits.
He says, "My manager is annoyed with me, because I always bring so many people on tour with me.
"The costs are so high that I never make money from touring, but I don’t really care about that. If we can break even, I’m fine. This isn’t my day job.
Producing records is my day job."

R. KELLY ACCUSED OF SEXUAL FLING WITH EX-PUBLICIST’S DAUGHTER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:00 pm

The husband of R. KELLY’s former publicist REGINA DANIELS claims his wife severed ties with the R&B star because of a sexual relationship the singer had with their daughter.
Regina quit her longtime post in November (07) amid rumours R. Kelly - who faces 14 counts of having sex with a minor in a trial in May (08) - had embarked on an intimate romance with her then-21-year-old daughter Maxine.
And now music industry veteran George Daniels has confirmed the singer’s involvement with their daughter was what caused his wife to terminate her contract with Kelly.
He says, "He crossed the line with my daughter. It didn’t get to the extreme of that (alleged sex tape) video or else I wouldn’t be here, if you know what I’m talking about." Though Maxine was of legal age, George claims Kelly still took advantage of her.
He adds, "When you’re 21, and if you’ve been there already like I’ve been many years ago, you’re still 15 to 16 mentally. You’re vulnerable." And George - who was aware of rumours of Kelly’s fling with his daughter was furious when he originally confronted the singer.
He says, "He denied it. He lied to me to my face. The reason that I’m talking abut this, it’s not just for me, it’s not for my wife, it’s not for my daughter, but it’s for the public.
"It’s for other fathers and mothers because it doesn’t have to be a superstar, it could be the dude on the corner. There are guys who sit around and give your child a couple of bucks to go to school and then wait until they get a little older, then they set that trap. See, so I’m doing this really for everyone."

STALLONE PLOTS ANOTHER RAMBO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:45 pm

Action hero SYLVESTER STALLONE has reneged on his promise to abandon the RAMBO franchise - following the surprise success of his character’s big screen comeback.
The Hollywood star disappointed fans of the movies last month (Jan08) by dismissing reports he would pen another sequel, stating it "can’t go any further".
However, the 61-year-old has dramatically u-turned on his stance, telling British talkshow host Jonathan Ross, "I’d love to go back to Rambo again. You don’t get to play that kind of character very often.
"At first it was stereotyped but now I’m really proud to have done it. It’s timely. Ten years ago it wouldn’t have been right." The fourth installment, simply titled Rambo, took over $18 million (£9 million) in its opening weekend when it was released in America on 25 January (08).

DANSON: ‘PROTECT OUR FISH’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:42 pm

Former CHEERS star TED DANSON has called for better practices to protect the world’s oceans from over-fishing and contamination.

The actor founded the American Oceans Campaign in 1987 to bring national attention to environmental issues. The group later merged with Oceana to bring the cause to a global level.
He says, "This is not about saving fish from the goodness of our hearts or taking care of our oceans because we want to be thought of as environmental. It is economic. It is moral, and it is public health.
"I guess it’s really tough to get people to focus on this great big, beautiful, gorgeous ocean."

SIMPSON DENIES PRODY ASSAULT ACCUSATION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:39 pm

O.J. SIMPSON has vehemently denied his girlfriend’s recent hospitalisation for "a severe head injury" is a result of physical abuse.
According to a police report, Christie Prody was taken to an intensive care unit in Miami, Florida’s Baptist Hospital on Monday (11Feb08) after hitting her head during a fall at a gasoline station.
American tabloid the National Enquirer alleged on Thursday (14Feb08) a neurologist at the hospital where the 32-year-old is being treated has informed police her bruises and injuries are most often linked with an assault - not a fall.
However, Yale Galanter, an attorney for Simpson - who was acquitted of killing ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1995, but was found responsible for their deaths by a civil hearing - says his client has nothing to do with the injury and is not being investigated as a suspect by police.
