SYAM HONOURED AT MUMBAI FILM FESTIVAL
Revered Bollywood director ARIBAM SYAM has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Mumbai International Film Festival in India.
The moviemaker/musician received the award on Saturday (09Feb08) at the Tata Auditorium in the capital, and was given a standing ovation for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Leena Manimekalai’s Godesses won the Golden Conch for the Best Indian Documentary Film, winning a cash prize of 100,000 rupees ($6321; £3160).
Polish movie One Day In People’s Poland and Beyond The Wall were jointly awarded second place, winning the Silver Conch in the same category.
Meanwhile, the Golden Conch for Best Feature Film was awarded to Rahi Anil Barve’s Manhjha - a harrowing expression of child sexual abuse.
