ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s former lovers LARRY BIRKHEAD and HOWARD K. STERN have filed a lawsuit against the authors of a controversial new book documenting the late glamour girl’s life.
Birkhead and Stern claims Pol’ Atteu and Patrik Simpson - the authors of Anna Nicole Smith: Portrait Of An Icon - are solely trying to make money out of stolen pictures of the former Playboy model and were never actually close to the tragic star.
Birkhead - father of Smith’s daughter Dannielynn - says, "The only thing I know about them is that they tried selling pictures of Anna without her permission, and were booted out of Anna’s life for approximately two years." He adds, "I am offended by the stupidity of these bozos who are trying to make a buck off a so-called friendship.
"They were not true friends of Anna; in fact, she was very skeptical of them.
I remember many times being present when Anna would not take either of their calls." The books publisher Jody Gibson confirmed she has received legal documentation on behalf of Stern.
She says, "Howard K. Stern had his attorney send me a letter wanting to sue me. He said that (the authors) stole two ‘priceless’ pictures that are in the book. But they signed a contract verifying the authenticity of content. How do I know Howard owns what he’s claiming to own?" She adds, "Larry Birkhead was a hanger-on who wanted to get in on the act and had a brief moment with Anna. And lo and behold, he is the biological father and holds the key to her future through her child."

Actress LINDSAY LOHAN is desperate to work with director TIM BURTON on his big screen adaptation of Alice In Wonderland - branding herself as the "ideal" candidate for the lead role.
The Mean Girls star is vying to land the sought-after part of Alice in the Lewis Carroll classic in a bid to revive her flagging career - and she hopes her public enthusiasm for the role will persuade movie maverick Burton to recruit her.
The 21-year-old’s career has suffered a downturn after a spell in rehab last year (07), following two DUI incidents which resulted in a brief stint in jail.
Lohan is also up for four Razzie Awards this year (08) - the mock Oscars ceremony that rewards bad movies and performances - including two nominations for worst actress in the same production, I Know Who Killed Me, in which she plays twins.
Lohan says, "I hope they don’t give it to an unknown. I’m ideal. I could really do it justice. I’ve been down the role."

Former BEATLES SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and RINGO STARR have paid tribute to the band’s one-time spiritual advisor MAHARISHI MAHESH YOGI.
The musicians are "saddened" by the death of Yogi who was credited with helping the band find spiritual enlightenment during a visit to India in the 1960s.
McCartney, 65, says, "Whilst I am deeply saddened by his passing, my memories of him will only be joyful ones.
"He was a great man who worked tirelessly for the people of the world and the cause of unity.
"I will never forget the dedication that he wrote inside a book he once gave me, which read ‘radiate, bliss, consciousness’, and that to me says it all. I will miss him but will always think of him with a smile." Former bandmate Starr, 67, adds, "One of the wise men I met in my life was the Maharishi. I always was impressed by his joy and I truly believe he knows where he is going." Yogi died in his sleep at his home in the Netherlands on Tuesday (05Feb08).
He was 91.

Bollywood star KUNAL SINGH has committed suicide at his home in Oshiwara, India. He was 31. A close friend found the South Indian actor’s body in his Mumbai apartment, where he had hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
Singh is survived by his wife and two children, who had left to visit their hometown of Ahmednagar just two days prior to his death.

Fashion designer DONNA KARAN was left red-faced after animal rights activists snuck into her apartment and accosted her for using fur in her designs.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sent a representative to the fashionista’s New York home armed with a DVD of animals being skinned alive and was stunned when the activist was welcomed in by Karan’s assistant.
Karan was played the DVD, but reportedly protested, "I can’t watch this now.
I have somewhere to be. I just really don’t have the time.
"I’ve seen all these (videos), but for me it’s just purses and accessories." PETA spokesman Michael McGraw tells New York gossip column PageSix, the infiltrator was shocked when "she was invited into Karan’s vast apartment, greeted by an assistant and offered a seat".
The group plans to campaign at the designer’s Fashion Week show on Friday (08Feb08) by wearing Donna Karan masks and attacking stuffed rabbits.

UMA THURMAN’s boyfriend ARKY BUSSON has quashed rumours she is pregnant putting the star’s recent weight gain down to the fact she has quit smoking.

TV talent show phenomenon AMERICAN IDOL is to be turned into an attraction at Florida’s DisneyWorld theme park.
Fans of the programme will be able to ‘audition’ by performing in video kiosks and those selected by a Disney Hollywood Studios producer will sing for a panel of judges.
Performers with the highest votes each day will then compete in a finale show. But Disney bosses and Idol producers are keen to point out that daily winners will not get the chance to appear on the TV talent show.
The Idol attraction is expected to debut later this year (08).

Scottish music producer CALVIN HARRIS regrets not using rumours of a romance with pop superstar KYLIE MINOGUE to his advantage - insisting the fairytale affair would have increased his record sales.
The Girls star was linked to the diminutive singer last year (07), just months after she split from French actor Olivier Martinez.
The pair had reportedly spent romantic evenings together in London while collaborating on the Australian singer’s latest LP X.

Rapper REMY MA is confident of "vindication" in her forthcoming assault trial after prosecutors failed to find DNA evidence linking her to the crime.
The hip-hop star - real name Remy Smith - is accused of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, gang assault and witness intimidation in relation to the shooting of 23-year-old Makeda Barnes-Joseph outside a New York nightclub in July (07).
Prosecutors allege the incident was sparked when Smith discovered $2,000 (£1,000) missing from her purse and accused Barnes-Joseph of stealing the money.
Smith is due to stand trial later this month (Feb08) but her defence team insist the star has a good chance of being acquitted as experts failed to find any DNA clues to link her to the shooting.
Defence attorney Ivan Fisher tells Sohh.com, "They (police) were looking in the victim’s car for evidence of blood. Now I ask you, since my client wasn’t shot and the victim was, whose blood do you think it was? As long as the prosecution keeps thinking like this, we might win this case. We look forward to vindication." Smith, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, is also facing a civil prosecution over the incident. Barnes-Joseph is suing the rap star for $80 million (£40 million) in damages - naming Smith in the suit along with her record label, Universal Music Group, and several other music industry officials who play a major role in her music career. A date for the criminal trial is provisionally set for 25 February (08).

R&B superstar JANET JACKSON was desperate to work with industry newcomer NE-YO on her new LP - because she could tell from his work that he was a huge fan of the JACKSON family.
The 41-year-old singer fell in love with the singer’s music and asked him to pen a track for her upcoming album Discipline, because she can hear the Jackson clan’s trademark style in his songs.

Animal-loving actress KATE WALSH has opened the doors to a new dog adoption centre in New York.
The Private Practice star cut the ribbon to officially open Pedigree(r) Dogstore in Times Square on Thursday (07Feb08).
The shop will serve as the first short-term adoption centre of its kind where visitors can learn about dog adoption, meet adoptable dogs and make donations to support various shelters across the U.S.
Walsh says, "It breaks my heart to know that there are so many loving dogs in shelters just waiting to find homes.
"It’s impossible to articulate the happiness that my adopted dog Lucy brings to my life - so I’m excited to be a part of a program that is committed to raising awareness and funding for these wonderful animals."

British royal PRINCE WILLIAM shocked diners at a curry house in England when he sat down to enjoy a $16 (£8) meal.

QUEEN guitarist BRIAN MAY has ordered references to BRITNEY SPEARS be removed from hit musical WE WILL ROCK YOU out of respect for the troubled star.
The 60-year-old musician insisted the character of "Britney" in the show be renamed. Gang members in the play - based on the music of Queen - are named after 20th century icons, with the character formerly known as Spears now taking the moniker of Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
And May admits he made the decision to remove Spears references from the show because he felt sorry for the star.
He says, "We have taken out references to her in deference to the fact she is going through such a hard time. The references have always been intended as good-natured fun and even a kind of tribute to her. But we didn’t want there to be any risk of the show adding to her pain.
"We are very sensitive to the feelings of our fellow artists. We never feel comfortable with anything other than a non-destructive, affectionate gag." Spears was placed on psychiatric evaluation at a Los Angeles hospital last month (Jan08) - the latest episode in the star’s well-publicised meltdown.
May adds, "We send our love to Britney. We would like to see her back up there, in private and in public - pure spun gold."

Former STAR TREK star WILLIAM SHATNER has not seen the TV show which made him famous.
The 76-year-old refuses to watch himself onscreen because he believes "(he) sucks" at acting in the popular sci-fi series.
He says, "I never watched Star Trek and I have not even seen any of the Star Trek movies. I don’t watch them myself. When I direct and have to look at filmed scenes of myself, I suck." And Shatner regrets failing to lift any memorabilia from his days on set - as the costumes and props are now worth a lot of money.
He adds, "I’ve kept nothing. Given the choice at the time of having a Star Trek suit or a designer suit, I’d have taken a suit. I should have known better."
