WATSON COMPLETES TREATMENT, RETAINS SIGHT AND VOICE
LATEST: Opera star RUSSELL WATSON has completed a five-week course of radiotherapy to eradicate a recurrent brain tumour.
It was feared the singer could lose his eyesight or voice following the treatment, however Giles Baxendale, Watson’s manger, insists this does not appear to be the case.
And 41-year-old Watson has thanked his family, friends and fans for their support during a tough time.
Writing on his blog, he says, "I’m not out of the woods yet. I dearly wanted to keep the side-effects to a minimum and I’ve been keeping myself fit and healthy as I can, but I’m afraid they’ve caught up with me, and I don’t mind admitting I’ve not been myself. "I’m just so lucky I’ve had friends, family, and of course my fans to help me through; I really don’t think I could do this without the support I’ve had." Watson had surgery on the tumour - which grew close to his optic nerve - last October (07), his second operation on the cancer in 12 months.
