CLOVERFIELD CLAWS TO GLOBAL NUMBER ONE SPOT
Monster movie CLOVERFIELD has roared its way to the top of the international box office chart.
The horror thriller, about five New Yorkers attempting to escape from a giant lizard, proved to be the most popular film outside the U.S. over the weekend (01-03Feb08), taking in $18.6 million (£9.3 million).
Gerard Depardieu’s new French film, Asterix At The Olympic Games, opened with $16 million (£8 million) to come in second, while Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street fell two places to third.
