JOHNSON: `I DON’T WANT TO BE PRESIDENT’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 11:26 pm

Surfer-turned-rocker JACK JOHNSON has denied reports he’s planning to take his green ideas into politics - because he doesn’t want to become the next AL GORE.
The singer-songwriter has expressed his admiration for all environmentalist Gore is doing because it echoes issues he has been talking about for years.
But, now America is getting greener, some politicians and journalists are interested in what Johnson might have to say if he was to take a break from music and run for office.
The self-confessed hippie rocker tells Outside magazine, "I’m not trying to act like I’ve got all the answers and that I’m greener than everyone else. I want to do what I can to help, but sometimes it starts to overwhelm me.
"It’s hard, because as soon as you put your voice in there, all of a sudden you’re the guy the newspaper wants to talk to. I accept the fact that I’m a somewhat known personality now and I like that I can use it for good things, but I ultimately don’t want to run for president."

"I’m all for freedom of the press, but I’m not averse to some good old-fashioned 4th estate payola.
"I know that some members of the press find me distasteful. I understand, I’m opinionated and annoying. But don’t you think you could shelve the bad review in the interest of free money or drugs?"

STONE GETS HER SMOKING FACTS WRONG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:16 pm

British singer JOSS STONE shocked guests at a heart disease benefit, by singing the praises of cigarettes.
The star was one of a number of celebrity guests at a New York Fashion Week bash on Saturday (2FEB08) to promote U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) annual Heart Truth awareness campaign.
When asked what she did to protect her heart, Stone, 20, revealed she smoked hand-rolled cigarettes - which she wrongly claimed are less harmful than pre-packaged ones.
She told the New York Daily News, "In England we smoked rolled cigarettes.
It’s better to smoke rollies than straights because straights have chemicals that keep them burning. So if you have to really smoke, smoke rollies." A 2006 study established hand-rolled cigarettes are actually more likely to cause lung and oesophageal cancer.
