ALEC BALDWIN is taking a break from Hollywood in 2008, after a busy and controversy-filled 2007 left him tired out.
Baldwin’s 2007 was dominated by a well-documented battle with Ireland, his 12-year-old daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
The actor left an angry voicemail message on Ireland’s cellphone, calling her a "thoughtless little pig" after she missed a scheduled chat with him. The message made its way onto the internet and dominated newspaper headlines for weeks.
And Baldwin admits the episode, coupled with a stressful year, has completely drained him of his energy.
He tells Gotham magazine, "I’m going to walk through the park, go to the movies, and rest.
"It’s been a tough 2007. With the strike and all that crap with my daughter, it’s taken a lot out of me. Now it’s time to do things that make me feel good.
I want to have a pleasant, simple, easy, and enjoyable year."

Rapper SNOOP DOGG has slammed TV executives behind his new reality show SNOOP DOGG’S FATHER HOOD - accusing the camera crew of coaxing him into behaving differently on-screen.
The hip-hop legend, 37, stars alongside his family in the behind-the-scenes TV show, which has been tipped as offering a real insight into the clan’s domestic life.
But the Doggystyle star, real name Calvin Broadus, is angry at the production team’s efforts to show a different side of the star - and the effects it has had on his youngest son’s vocabulary.
He says, "The camera crew sometimes tells my youngest son how to be. He’s seen me on set when they say, ‘Snoop, we want you to say this’, and I’m like, ‘F**k that! I ain’t saying s**t! Don’t tell me how to be me.
"So my son’s like, ‘F**k that! You can’t tell me how to be me!’ He has the same feelings as me, this is a reality show. You don’t need to tell us how to act. Step back and let us be."

LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS is going home to Louisiana with her mother LYNNE as soon as she is released from hospital in Los Angeles.
The singer was taken to the UCLA Medical Center in an ambulance, surrounded by a police convoy, early on Thursday (31Jan08) after a reported "intervention" by family members at her Beverly Hills home.
Spears’ lawyer Michael Flanagan reveals Lynne is waiting for the singer to be discharged, so she can whisk her back to the family’s Kentwood home.
Flanagan tells PageSix.com, "Lynne is extremely concerned for her daughter and would like to take Britney back home to Louisiana and get her out of Hollywood.
"Brit has an amazing support system in Louisiana.
"Lynne was holding up reasonably well, but her first priority and concern right now is with her daughter and helping her through this very tough situation that she is in." According to various internet reports, the Toxic hitmaker will be held at the hospital on a metal health order after concern about the singer’s health was raised by her psychiatrist.
The 26-year-old was previously admitted to L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earlier this month (03Jan08) after a three-hour stand-off with police, and was held for two days on a ‘5150 hold’ order, meaning medics have reason to believe she is a danger to herself or others.

Hollywood star GEORGE CLOONEY paid a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York on Thursday (31Jan08) for the first time since he was appointed Messenger of Peace of the world organisation earlier this month (18Jan08).
The Ocean’s 13 actor was accompanied by his parents Nick and Nina Clooney as he arrived at the office on Thursday afternoon (31Jan08) to the delight of his adoring fans, who had gathered outside the building’s entrance to catch a glimpse of the star.
Clooney then met with U.N. Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro, who presented him with the U.N. Messenger of Peace certificate and dove pin, the traditional tokens given to those newly-designated to the post.
The presentation comes just days after he returned from a trip to Sudan’s troubled Darfur region, his first posting as a U.N. ambassador.

30 ROCK star TINA FEY has vowed to be "less vulgar and more Christian" in 2008, after her gynaecologist scolded her for calling PARIS HILTON a "tranny" (transvestite).
The funnywoman is embarrassed about her rant on U.S. shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show - during which she also called the socialite a "piece of s**t".
But now Fey is determined to clean up her act, and her mouth.
She tells Gotham magazine, "Maybe an attempt at a less vulgar life. Less cursing, less bile. I sort of got into trouble last year - I went on Howard Stern and ran my mouth a little bit about Paris Hilton. Not only was that not the right way for a 37-year-old to behave, but I went to my gynaecologist for my yearly check-up and she was like, ‘I read that thing in the paper. That was very hostile. SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET has sliced ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM to shreds to replace the sci-fi thriller atop the U.K
. and Ireland box office chart.
The murder-musical, starring Johnny Depp as the fictional 19th century serial killer, raked in more than $9 million (£4.5 million) in ticket sales in its opening weekend (25-27Jan08), quadrupling the earnings of its nearest competitor, Alien vs Predator: Requiem.
Romantic drama PS I Love You kept its position at number three for another week, while the Academy Award-nominated No Country For Old Men took fourth place, and British comedy St Trinian’s climbed its way back into the top five in fifth position.
Will Smith’s futuristic thriller I Am Legend, which formerly held the number one spot for three weeks, fell from the top five after six weeks.

LOST star JORGE GARCIA has hinted he may leave the smash-hit programme to return to his roots - as a stand-up comedian.
The Chilean actor was a funny-man performer before TV executives chose him to play Lost’s burly plane-crash survivor Hugo Reyes after spotting his comedic turn on U.S. TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm.
But the Deck The Halls star doubts he has the dedication to make a successful return the Los Angeles comedy circuit.
The 34-year-old says, "It was something I did because it was great showcase yourself as both a performer and a writer. But I didn’t have the discipline to do the same material every time a got up.
"Most people did the same act every time and just worked on that six minutes, so if they ever got to The Tonight Show, the act would be great. I might go back to it. Who knows?"

Producers of horror film CLOVERFIELD are in talks to make a sequel - because the monster movie has become such an unexpected hit.
The Matt Reeves-directed film, which was shot in the style of a home movie, is about five New Yorkers attempting to escape from a giant lizard.
The movie debuted atop the U.S. box office chart earlier this month (Jan08) with takings of $41 million (£20.5 million) - to take the title for the biggest ever January opening.
And film studio Paramount is keen to cash in on its success with a follow-up, according to industry publication Variety.
But Reeves has warned fans of Cloverfield not to get their hopes up just yet.
He says, "Only time will tell. While we were on set making the film we talked about the possibilities and directions of how a sequel can go."

Late chess legend BOBBY FISCHER’s Cold War showdown with Russian player BORIS SPASSKY is to be documented in a new Hollywood movie.
The American-born former world champion passed away earlier this month (18Jan08) at his home in Iceland, aged 64.
Fischer, regarded by many as the greatest chess player of all time, made headlines after beating reigning champion Spassky in the tense battle in 1972.
His achievements were described in the best-selling book Bobby Fischer Goes To War, and film studios Working Title and Universal are now planning to bring the story to the big screen.
The Last King of Scotland director Kevin MacDonald will helm the movie, with production slated to begin once he finishes filming political thriller State Of Play, according to Variety.
This isn’t the first time Fischer’s eccentricities have inspired moviemakers - Steven Zaillian’s 1993 movie Searching For Bobby Fischer was inspired by the star, but he didn’t feature as a character in the film.

HULK HOGAN’s estranged wife LINDA BOLLEA is furious after the wrestling star allegedly attempted to trick her into signing a post-nuptial agreement.
Linda Bollea filed for divorce from her 54-year-old husband - real name Terry Bollea - in November last year (07) after the breakdown of their 23-year marriage.
The former couple is currently fighting it out over the division of assets, with Hogan contesting Bollea’s demand for a share of the family’s multi-million dollar Florida properties, in addition to alimony and child support.
But Bollea is now claiming her ex attempted to convince her to agree to a financial settlement with a post-nup after persuading her to divulge intimate details of her life to attorney Les Barnett.
And she has responded to Hogan’s actions by filing a new appeal with a U.S.
judge to prevent him from spending the $10 million (£5 million) they received after selling their Miami, Florida family home, as well as money tied up in trust accounts and corporate holdings.
Court papers filed earlier this week (begs28Jan08) read: "Husband (Hogan)’s intentionally false representations to the wife (Bollea) regarding Mr. Barnett were made with the sole intent to induce in the wife a false sense of security with Mr. Barnett so that she would share confidential information with him.
"…There has been complete lack of candor on the husband’s side of this case. The wife fears that unless the husband is enjoined in any matter from further dissipating, secreting or otherwise disposing of the proceeds from the sale of (the Miami) house, the husband will continue to spend in secret the proceeds received from the aforesaid amounts." Hogan and Bollea have two children together - daughter Brooke, 19, and 17-year-old Nick - for whom Bollea is claiming primary custody and child support.

TIM BURTON and HELENA BONHAM CARTER have named their six-week-old daughter INDIANA ROSE, according to reports.
The actress gave birth to the couple’s second child on 16 December (07), but have kept tight-lipped about the new tot’s name.
A spokesperson for the British star refused to confirm the news, but confessed to WENN, "It’s probably likely." German website VIP.de claims Burton and Bonham Carter waited until now, because they were expecting a brother for four-year-old Billy Ray, so had only thought up boys names, reports PageSix.com.

RADIOHEAD have beaten out ARCADE FIRE to win the title of 2007’s best album in a new poll of online music bloggers’ top picks.
Online blog aggregator The Hype Machine has compiled votes from over 648 music-sharing blogs to confirm the British band’s LP In Rainbows as the internet’s favourite album of last year (07), beating Arcade Fire’s Neon Bible into second place, while The National’s disc Boxer took third position.
LCD Soundsystem’s Sound of Silver came in at number four, while Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is at number five.
But Canadian rockers Arcade Fire triumphed over Radiohead in another list of the worldwide web’s "most talked about" artists.
The closely-fought battle saw the two bands beat competition from Feist, LCD Soundsystem and Spoon, who landed third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Rap superstar PHARRELL WILLIAMS stunned guests at an orthodox Jewish wedding in Miami, Florida recently - by crashing the party and joining in the celebrations.
The superproducer was driving past the nuptials in December (07) and stopped to take pictures of the traditional service. Unsuspecting guests invited him to join them and he was even blessed by groom Tuvia Lind.
Guest Michelle Saka says, "He was taking pictures of us because he thought it was strange that the men weren’t dancing together. We invited him in. He was having the best time.
"He kept asking people, ‘Don’t you know who I am? You don’t know (hit song) Drop It Like It’s Hot?’ But he was having fun."

The SPICE GIRLS disappointed thousands of fans at a recent U.S. concert - after a technical hitch forced them to end their concert in silence.
The pop stars were performing their final number, Spice Up Your Life, on Wednesday night (30Jan08) when a malfunction in their confetti display caused the sound system at the Boston, Massachusetts venue to shut down.
The group continued to sing and dance despite fans not being able to hear them - and the show ended with the words "Mission Accomplished" lighting up the screen behind them.

Rapper C-MURDER’s retrial on a second-degree murder charge has been postponed until June (08).
The 36-year-old, real name Corey Miller, was due to stand trial in New Orleans, Louisiana, in February (08) for the shooting death of teenager Steve Thomas outside a local nightclub in 2002.
The star’s 2003 conviction was thrown out in 2006 when prosecutors were found guilty of withholding criminal background information on witnesses. Miller was released from jail in New Orleans in March 2006 and placed on house arrest after posting $500,000 (£250,000) bail.
But plans for his retrial have now been pushed back until the summer after Judge Martha Sassone agreed to a joint request from the defence and prosecution to delay jury selection - which was to begin on 11 February (08).
The two parties came to the decision after a meeting with Sassone on Tuesday (29Jan08), during which Miller’s lawyer Ron Rakosky is reported to have discovered the names of several more witnesses prosecutor David Wolff planned to call to the stand to give testimonies.
Wolff is also said to have asked for more time in the case to find a particular witness.
Full details about the latest developments have not been revealed because Sassone has banned both sides from discussing the case with the media.
Attorneys for both the prosecution and defence will return to court on 11 February (08), when Rakosky will enter a formal request for change of venue and a dismissal of the indictment altogether.

Former supermodel CARLA BRUNI and her fiance, French President NICOLAS SARKOZY, are suing a budget Irish airline after the firm used a photograph of the couple in an advertisement without their authorisation.
The couple has filed a lawsuit against Ryanair following the publication of the print advert in a French newspaper featuring the 40-year-old beauty and Sarkozy smiling dreamily. The image, which was shown in Le Parisien on Monday (28Jan08), was accompanied by a caption which read: "With Ryanair, my whole family can come to my wedding." In legal papers filed earlier this week (ends01Feb08) in a French court, the couple’s attorney Thierry Herzog claimed that Bruni had "never spoken of a future wedding" taking place before 31 January (08) - the end date of the Ryanair sale - nor had she revealed their nuptials "could take place in one of the destinations offered by Ryanair".
And while a spokesman for the Elysee Palace - the French president’s official residence - has branded the use of the picture "unacceptable", the airline’s marketing director for France, Matthieu Glasson, has argued the advert shows the couple "in a positive light".
He adds, "You could even say that it helps the president by showing him as close to the people, living a similar life, using the same brands." The complaint is due to be heard by a Paris court on Thursday (31Jan08).
Bruni is seeking 500,000 euros ($740,500/£370,250) in compensation for violation of the couple’s right to privacy, while Sarkozy is suing for the symbolic sum of just one euro ($1.47/£0.73) in damages.

NAOMI CAMPBELL has accused the fashion industry of racism and is vowing to boycott designers who only use white models.
Campbell, famous for being the first black model to grace the covers of the British and French Vogue magazines, claims labels are using fewer "black, Chinese and Hispanic" models than ever.
Speaking on the eve of New York Fashion Week (begs1Feb08), the 37-year-old says, "I’m disgusted and sad about the whole issue. Fashion needs to go back to the way it used to be when wonderful designers like Yves St. Laurent, Gianna Versace and Azzedine Alaia just had a great line up of beautiful women - white, black, Chinese, Hispanic." Campbell claims one particular fashion house refused her clothes, because they "already dress Beyonce".
The supermodel says, "I’ve taken it upon myself to never wear that designer it’s such an ignorant thing to say." Campbell is also boycotting an unnamed European designer she claims refuses to use non-white models in its shows.
The model, meanwhile, won’t grace the catwalk in New York next week (begs4Feb08) because she claims she "hasn’t been asked".
She adds, "I love it and miss it, but understand this, it doesn’t have to be me. It has to be amazing women of colour."
