LIL’ WAYNE DISMISSES ALLEGED DRUG USE
Rapper LIL’ WAYNE has fiercely denied rumours of his alleged drug addiction, insisting he wouldn’t be a hip-hop star if he was taking illegal substances.
Lil’ Wayne - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. - was arrested on three felony counts by Arizona police last week (23Jan08) and now faces charges of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving weapons.
The Internet has since been abound with rumours of his reported drug use, but the 25-year-old has dismissed the claims.
Addressing the allegations at his Richmond, Virginia concert on Saturday (26Jan08), he said: "A junkie can’t do what the f**k I do. I try to tell them (police). I am the ultimate high, understand? I am my drug, you understand me?" Carter is scheduled to appear in a Wellton, Arizona court on 12 February (08) for a preliminary hearing.
Lil’ Wayne was previously arrested on drugs charges in Atlanta, Georgia in 2006. He is also currently facing illegal gun possession charges and is due to appear in court in New York to face those counts on 25 February (08).
