SWEENEY TODD SLICES ITS WAY TO TOP OF GLOBAL BOX OFFICE
SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET has carved out a place at the top of the international box office chart, toppling I AM LEGEND to become the world’s number one film.
The macabre musical, which stars Johnny Depp as a murderous barber, proved the most popular movie outside the U.S. over the weekend (25-27Jan08), taking $18.7 million (£9.85 million).
Will Smith’s I Am Legend falls a place to two with $15.8 million (£7.9 million), while National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is at three with $13 million (£6.5 million).
