EARL MAY DIES
Jazz bassist EARL MAY has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 80.
May, who passed away on 4 January (08), led his own group but is best known for performing with dozens of jazz legends.
Born in New York in 1927, May went on to become a protege of Charles Mingus and played with stars including Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Cab Calloway, Dizzy Gillespie and John Coltrane.
