CRAIG DEFENDS NEW BOND TITLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

DANIEL CRAIG has defended the title of the next JAMES BOND film, insisting the phrase QUANTUM OF SOLACE in integral to the plot.
Fans were left scratching their heads about the film’s over-complicated title when it was announced earlier this week (beg21Jan08), but the actor insists the 22nd installment of the super-spy franchise has the perfect name.
The 39-year-old Brit says, "We could have gone for a snappier title, but that sort of suggests we’re insecure about what we’re trying to say. The statement is an (Bond creator) Ian Fleming statement. It comes from the idea that in a relationship, if you don’t have a quantum of solace left in your relationship, then give up. "Where Bond is left at the end of the last movie (2006’s Casino Royale), his heart’s been broken and he doesn’t have that quantum of solace, he doesn’t have that … closure on what happened in his life and he needs to find out. What is great about it is it also applies to something very important in the plot." Quantum Of Solace has been taken from a collection of short stories which were published by Fleming in 1960.

U.S. POLITICAN UNFASED BY BONO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

U.S. Defence Secretary ROBERT GATES was unfased when he met U2 rock star BONO as he had no idea who he was. The With Or Without You star met the politician at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. on Thursday (24Jan08), as part of his efforts to persuade world leaders to increase aid to developing nations.
The U2 frontman and humanitarian has already pressed French president Nicolas Sarkozy to stick to plans to raise development assistance to poorer countries, particularly those in Africa, and he continued his campaign with a low-key meeting with Gates.
But the 64-year-old admits he was impressed by Bono’s knowledge of world affairs but had no clue about his rock star status.
He says, "It’s a matter of age. I thought U2 was an airplane. (But) my daughter nearly had an aneurysm when I told her who I was meeting with."

REID: ‘LOHAN AND HILTON DESERVED JAIL’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Hollywood actress TARA REID has slammed fellow stars PARIS HILTON and LINDSAY LOHAN - stating they deserved the punishment they received for breaking the law.
The American Pie star feels she is unfairly portrayed as a party animal, insisting she has never done anything to deserve the bad press - unlike Lohan and Hilton.
The 32-year-old actress, who has become more famous for her alleged wild antics than her film roles in recent years, believes she is often punished for simply enjoying herself.
She says, "What have I ever really done? Dance on a table? When Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton got their DUIs (drinking under the influence arrests) they got punished, they deserved it. "But my punishment, I don’t feel like it fits the crime. I don’t understand why people punish others for being happy."

QUAID UPSET BY TWINS MOVIE ENDING

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

Actor DENNIS QUAID finds it tough to watch the climax of his new movie SMART PEOPLE because it reminds him of his newborn twins who nearly died after a drugs overdose.
At the end of the film the star, who plays an English professor struggling to get over the death of his wife, is seen cradling baby twins.
And the star admits it is hard to watch the footage now after the near-death experience of his own children.
He says, "It actually really gets me when I see this. I’m a little verklempt.
Kimberly (Quaid’s wife) and I weren’t even pregnant when we shot (the movie). "We’d been trying for three years. When I read the script a couple years ago, the end scene always got me emotionally. It made me well up. And of course having our own twins now, it really gets me verklempt. It’s a wonderful thing.
For me, it’s just life imitating art." Quaid’s twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were left fighting for their lives when they were mistakenly given 1,000 times the normal 10-unit dose of blood-thinning drug Heparin by staff at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center shortly after they were born to a surrogate mother in November (07).
The babies were eventually discharged after doctors gave them the all-clear.

POLICE DENY PLANS TO INTERVIEW OLSEN OVER LEDGER’S DEATH

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

The New York Police Department (NYPD) have denied reports they plan to interview actress MARY-KATE OLSEN as they attempt to piece together HEATH LEDGER’s final hours.
The actress was a good friend of the tragic star, who was found dead at his New York apartment earlier this week (22Jan08), and she was the first person called by the masseuse who found Ledger’s body.
It has been rumoured that police officials would ask to question Olsen - who was in California at the time of the actor’s death - as part of their search for clues as to how the Brokeback Mountain star died.
But NYPD detectives, who are handling the case, have denied the former child-star will be a part of their investigation.
Detective Joseph Cavitolo tells People.com, "Absolutely at no time are we going to be interviewing her (Olsen). We never had any plans to interview her.
At this point we are just waiting for the Medical Examiner’s report." An autopsy carried out on Wednesday (23Jan08) failed to reveal how the actor died, although police believe his death is drug-related as five different bottles of prescription drugs were found around his apartment.

RICH GOES SOLO AS BANDMATE SEEKS THERAPY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

BIG & RICH star JOHN RICH is going solo after asking for his bandmate’s blessing.
The country star has planned to record a solo album for years, but wanted to make sure his dream was OK with sidekick Big Kenny Alphin.
And when Alphin was forced to take some time off with injured neck, Rich decided the time was perfect for him to go it alone.
He says, "If anyone knows me, they know I’m always writing music. When we decided to take a year off, so Kenny could focus on rehabilitation for a pre-existing injury, I asked Kenny if he was cool with me recording a solo project.
"I would only do this with Kenny’s blessing. So, this year you can expect a solo record from me, but Big & Rich will be back in 2009." Alphin has been told to take a lengthy break to fully recover from a car accident that led to the removal of a vertebrae from his spine.

SLASH WORRIED ABOUT HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Rocker SLASH fears GUNS ‘N ROSES’ potential induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 could be a debacle if the bandmates don’t put aside their differences by then.
The November Rain hitmakers will become eligible for induction in 2010 - but guitarist former Slash fears a Van Halen-type mess.
The rocker and former Guns ‘N Roses stars Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum joined forces with Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar to pay tribute to Van Halen last year (07) when the band themselves failed to show.
Eddie Van Halen was in rehab and frontman David Lee Roth refused to perform with his successor, Hagar.
And now Slash fears his old band’s big night in two years time could become be another classic anti-climax.
He tells Billboard.com, "I never even thought about it until we had to do that. Somebody asked me, ‘Do you think you guys will be able to show up for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (induction ceremony) in five years?’ "I was like, ‘Oh, I guess we’re eligible.’ It never dawned on me before then.
If this comes up, I’d hope we’d be mature enough to get up and do that, but I have no idea." Slash, McKagan and Sorum currently perform together in Velvet Revolver while Guns ‘N Roses frontman Axl Rose is famously estranged from his former bandmates.

CYRUS SPEAKS OUT ABOUT FAKE COMPETITION ENTRY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Singer MILEY CYRUS was "upset" to learn a mother of a HANNAH MONTANA fan faked a competition to win tickets to a sold-out show by pretending the girl’s father had been killed in Iraq.
The 15-year-old pop sensation was shocked to hear that Texan Priscilla Ceballos had submitted the fictional, contest-winning essay earlier this month (Jan08).
Competition organisers withdrew the prizes which were awarded to Ceballos’ daughter Alexis, including a Hannah Montana make-over and an all-expenses paid trip to a concert in Albany, New York when the untruth came to light.
The opening line of Alexis’ essay read, "My daddy died this year in Iraq." But Priscilla confessed, "We did the essay and that’s what we did to win. We did whatever we could do to win." In an interview set to air on TV show Good Morning American on Monday (28Jan08), Cyrus says, "I was really kind of upset. I mean, that’s just not a cool scenario.
"But it just shows what people will do for a ticket."

MICHELE SLAMS ‘GOLDIGGING’ MANAGER’S LAWSUIT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

LATEST: Grammy-nominated R&B singer CHRISETTE MICHELE has spoken out after her former manager launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit against her - branding him a "gold digger".
Douglas `Biggs’ Ellison, CEO of Four Kings Productions Inc, is suing Michele for $20 million (£10 million), claiming that Island Def Jam Music Group ’stole’ the singer from his books. Ellison also blames the star’s parents - Lynette and Lemuel Payne - for the move, claiming they conspired with Shalik Berry, from Def Jam’s A&R department, to break the artist’s exclusive contract with Four Kings Productions - and now he is looking for compensation.
But Michele’s publicist, Rochelle Brown, has disputed Ellison’s claims arguing that the businessman’s motivation for the suit is driven by personal reasons. She tells Allhiphop.com, "This is just a case of the jilted lover and gold-digging manager getting caught. The Paynes and Mr. Berry did not unlawfully try to get Chrisette out of her contract with Four Kings. Mr.
Ellison’s devious plot to exploit and rip Chrisette off began to be revealed.
"No contracts have been breached except on the end of Mr.Ellison. His reputation has been damaged as a consequence of the unlawful and idiotic transactions he decided to make."

BONO CONFESSES ECO SINS TO ‘FATHER’ AL GORE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:41 pm

U2 frontman BONO has compared environmental campaigner AL GORE to an Irish priest to whom he can confess his ecological sins.
The With Or Without You hitmaker shared the stage with the former U.S. vice president at a conference in Davos, Switzerland on Thursday (24Jan08) - Bono was there to promote his campaign to alleviate world poverty, while Gore was continuing his plea for the reduction of global carbon emissions.
And the singer insists he can’t help feeling guilty about his lavish lifestyle when around Gore.
He says, "It’s like being with an Irish priest. You start to confess your sins. Father Al, I am not just a noise polluter, I am a noise-polluting, diesel-soaking, gulfstream-flying rock star.
"I’m going to kick the habit. I’m trying father Al, but oil has been very good for me - those convoys of articulated lorries, petrochemical products, hair gel." Gore was one of the key figures behind 2007’s Live Earth concerts to raise awareness about climate change. He won an Oscar for his 2006 environment-focused documentary An Inconvenient Truth and he was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (07) for his dedication to green issues.

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:41 pm

The Monster star is known for choosing gritty roles with serious storylines most recently starring in In The Valley Of Elah as a female detective facing discrimination in war-torn Iraq. And Theron, 32, insists it was Caine who told her she needed to make sure she enjoyed her work - for the sake of her sanity.
She says, "I remember him (Michael Caine) saying, ‘I’ve worked on so many movies and I probably don’t even remember all of the titles but I can tell you specific memories of the experience that will stay with me forever.’ "People always say, ‘How can you have a good time, given the subject matter?’ and I say, ‘You have to. IMUS SUED BY RADIO ADVERTISERS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 5:38 pm

Shock jock DON IMUS is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit from advertisers on his former radio show who claim he insulted a book the company was trying to promote.
Flatsigned Press Inc., a book publisher based in Nashville, Tennesse, has accused Imus of badmouthing the company by calling its radio commercials for a book by the late President Gerald Ford "cheesy".
The lawsuit, which is asking for over $4 million (£2 million) in damages, claims the star told listeners to his Imus In The Morning show on New York radio station WFAN that the publishers "have been waiting for (Ford) to croak (die) so they can unload these (books)".
The court papers also state that the DJ’s "libelous and disparaging statements" irreparably damaged sales of Ford’s book - a story about the Warren Commission’s investigation into the 1963 assassination of President John F.
Kennedy.
As well as $4 million (£2 million) in compensatory damages for breach of contract, libel and malice, the suit is also asking for another $59,000 (£29,500) for money spent on a newspaper advert that ran after the commercials on Imus’s show.
Imus was fired from WFAN last year (07) after making a racially charged remark about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team and now has a syndicated show on WABC.
